Chapter 1 Challenge
A/N: So here's chapter one. Hope everyone likes it. This book really isn't going to have anything to do with season 7, it will have the characters and stuff but none of the actual plot or the magical mumbo jumbo. XD I haven't decided if the whole book is going to be in NAR POV or if I'll break it into Rogers POV and Kassidy POV like the TMTL series. So conflicted XD Anyways Enjoy! Let me know what you think <3
The wind blew Kassidy's blonde hair back as her skateboard carried her down the sidewalk, people quickly jumped out of her way as she was not stopping for anyone. She laughed as one poor soul fell into a bush to get out of the way quickly. Her eyes widened as someone stepped in her way with no means to move.
"Shit shit shit." She muttered as she jumped off the skateboard and tumbled landing at the mans feet. She looked up and grinned.
"Weaver." She said.
"Cole." Detective Weaver said stopping her skateboard as it was rolling by him. He picked it up and glared down at her. Kassidy stood up and brushed herself off.
"How many times do I have to tell you the side walk, is for walking?" He asked
"How many times have you told me this week? At least one more time than that." Kassidy replied.
"This is now mine." He said holding the skateboard out of her reach
"What? You can't take that, its mine!" Kassidy said and put her hands on her hips.
"Oh? and how did you get it?" Weaver asked. Kassidy rolled her eyes.
"That's what I thought. You're lucky I don't take you in."
"How am I supposed to get around?" Kassidy asked.
"Your legs, Cole. Use them." Weaver said and smirked. Kassidy glared at him.
"This isn't over Weaver."
"Oh, I know dearie." He said and walked away with her skateboard tucked under his arm.
"Asshat.." She muttered and made the rest of her journey to Roni's on foot.
Kassidy slid onto the bar stool and propped her elbows up on the bar resting her chin on her hands.
"Rough day kid?" Roni asked as she approached her and slid a glass of coke to her.
"I'm not a kid I'm almost 20" Kassidy sighed.
"To me, you will always be kid." Roni smirked.
"Weaver took my skateboard." Kassidy said and shrugged.
"He told you he would. Hes a man of his word." Roni laughed. "I'm sure you'll find some way to get him back you always do. Maybe if you keep out of trouble I'll pester his new Partner into getting it back for you."
"Fresh meat?" Kassidy's eyes lit up and she smirked.
"Oh No.. Weaver takes it easy on you. This guy is very by the book. He will tear you a new one if you try half the shit you get away with, with Weaver."
"So.. A challenge." Kassidy said. Roni sighed.
"You're killing me kid."
"So this new partner. Hes a friend of yours?" Kassidy asked.
"We talk when he comes in. Hes over there. Why don't you go say hi?" Roni said and pointed to the detective.
Kassidy spun around in her chair and looked. She raised a brow and bit her lip. This man was not at all like Weavers other partners. He was younger, much younger, His hair was dark and messy. His scruffy jaw was clenched and his brows were furrowed in frustration as he looked through case papers. Sensing he was being watched he looked up. Kassidy's breath hitched in her throat as his bright blue eyes met hers. She spun back around in the chair quickly and looked at Roni.
"That's.. his new partner? Where the fuck did Weaver find this guy?"
"Oh, Kassidy Cole, do you have a crush?" Roni smirked.
"Who wouldn't have a crush on that?" Kassidy asked. "Of course hes definitely not my type."
"What makes you say that?" Roni asked. Kassidy just gave Roni a look.
"Hello, Criminal... Cop? That's not exactly a good match."
"Kass you are not a Criminal. You are a mischievous little shit with sticky fingers and a horrible habit finding trouble But you are not a criminal."
Kassidy smirked.
"No. That was not an open invitation for a challenge. don't even think about it." Roni scold using her mama bear tone that Kassidy had come to know well over the last few years. Kassidy glanced to her left as a glass was set down on the bar
"Could I get some more Water Roni?"
Kassidy looked up at the man belonging to the heavenly accented voice and it was none other than the detective she had previously been staring at. He glanced down at her.
"I don't think we've met." He said.
"Don't worry detective." Kassidy smirked. "We will." She said and hopped off the stool and walked out of the bar. The detective watched her walk out, with a brow raised.
"Better watch out Rogers, you're officially on Kassidy's radar." Roni said and slid him another water.
"Kassidy? as in.. Kassidy Cole?" Rogers asked.
"The one and only." Roni chuckled.
"Ah, Weavers filled me in a little." He said and shrugged.
"You scared Detective?" Roni asked.
"I think I can handle a pick pocketing prankster Roni."
"If you say so." Roni smirked. Rogers looked back towards the door where Kassidy had just left.
"I like a challenge." He smirked.
