Chapter 29

Chapter 29

That night, Katsuki almost fell asleep in the greenette's arms. After crying for almost half an hour, his mind and body felt exhausted. But at the same time, he felt oddly relaxed. Which he rarely did.

As Izuku had stated, his quirk forced his body to be in constant adrenaline, not leaving space for relaxation at all—unless he was sleeping. The calmness was unsettling, but most definitely welcome. Especially when he was being held by none other than the nerd himself.

God, he didn't realize how much he needed to be held by him until that very moment.

Barely two days have gone by, and they couldn't stop sneaking glances at each other. A few of their classmates have noticed, apart from the obvious brunette that was growing frustrated. After the two boys had shared their kiss, nothing else happened. Uraraka might have to step in after all.

The moment lunch time rolled around, she stomped over to where they stood and pulled them aside, away from prying eyes and eavesdroppers. Katsuki growled in her direction, snatching his arm away from her grip and glaring at her. "What the fuck do you want?"

"Chill out, Bakugo," she rolled her eyes. Ever since she found out that they liked each other, she has been very bold. Somehow, knowing that Katsuki liked Izuku—the class' sweet and kind cinnamon roll—she saw Katsuki in a new light. Like a cute little dog who's all bark and no bite.

"Is there anything you need?" Izuku asked with a tilt to his head.

"From you? Not necessarily. But from you," she turned to Katsuki, giving him a pointed look. "We've got a little chat that is overdue."

"We don't have to talk about shit," Katsuki huffed, crossing his arms. "Now get out of my way, I ain't wasting my time with you."

"Kacchan, that's rude," Izuku pouted, making Katsuki roll his eyes.

"What's rude is that Pink Cheeks here thinks that whatever she has to say is more important than food in my stomach," Katsuki grumbled. He was going to be in a very bad mood if he didn't get food in the next five minutes.

Izuku was about to retort, but Uraraka waved him off, unfazed. "You know what? You're right. Izu-kun, you should go on ahead and eat. We will be behind you in a minute."

"That is not what I said," Katsuki growled.

"Ochako—"

"Don't worry about it, Deku," Uraraka giggled, pushing him away towards the cafeteria. He stared at her in uncertainty, sharing a look with Katsuki who just rolled his eyes and waved him off. With furrowed brows, Izuku complied and slowly walked away from them.

Once he was out of earshot, Katsuki glared at the brunette. "This better be fucking important or I'll blast your face in training."

Uraraka looked around them, grabbing his arm and pulling him towards a more secluded place. As much as he hated being dragged by someone, he let her pull him while shooting daggers at the back of her head.

When the coast was clear, she let go of him and turned to him with crossed arms. "So?"

"So what?!" Katsuki hissed, glaring down at her. "What the fuck do you need to talk about so badly?!"

"You haven't asked him out yet, have you?" She deadpanned, her lips in a thin line. Katsuki was caught off guard, almost choking on his own saliva as a light blush colored his cheeks.

"What does that have to do with you?" He hissed, eyes darting around them to make sure nobody was close by.

"He is my best friend," she glared at him. "He has had those feelings for you bottled up for a while, but now that bottle has been spilled. If he was anxious before, he must be even more anxious now that he knows that you miraculously like him back. But you haven't asked him out yet."

"And?" Katsuki grumbled, crossing his arms and looking away. Uraraka's jaw dropped in disbelief at his remark.

"What do you mean, 'and'?! You like him, he likes you, you already kissed for crying out loud! Do you really not plan on being in a relationship?! Are you really going to break his heart just like that?!"

Her words seemed to register in his head, and he looked at her with wide eyes. Before he could say anything, she continued, "You have raised his hopes so high that it's like he's on cloud nine. All I've only heard about these past few days have been 'Kacchan this, Kacchan that' and ugh. He is completely smitten by your arrogant ass, and you haven't even thought about asking him out."

"I have!" He exclaimed, defending himself. "But do you really think this is a good time for that?!"

"So what do you plan on doing?! Kiss behind closed doors and keep acting like some stupid rivals?! God knows his heart won't be able to handle that." Uraraka retorted, cheeks flushing in anger.

"And how do you know that?!"

"Because!" She exclaimed. "You and I both know that he has suffered enough. All with your fucking ass making his life miserable in middle school and who knows what else. I know that there is something else, something deeper, troubling him. But he won't tell me anything—!"

"—as time passes by, he will start having second thoughts, doubting about your true intentions. Because, 'if he really likes me, why haven't he asked me to be his boyfriend yet?'. That is what will go through his mind. And when he begins to doubt, both of your worlds will start crumbling down. And all. Because. You. Were a fucking. Coward."

It was safe to say that Katsuki was rendered speechless. He stared wide eyed at the short brunette, who shook her head in disappointment and began to walk away. But before she left completely, she stopped and looked at him over her shoulder. "What happened to the Bakugo that wasn't afraid of anything?"

And just like that, she left him by himself.

He was stunned, to say the least. Her words echoed inside his head like an endless mantra, giving him a headache. He casted his eyes downward, scowling at he floor as he got lost in his own mind. Never in a million years would he have thought that she was absolutely right. And he hated it, because she was.

The grumbling in his stomach snapped him out of his reverie. There was only about fifteen minutes left of their lunch break, and he was definitely starving. He pushed his thoughts to the back of his mind, keeping his scowl in place as he headed back to the cafeteria.

"Bakubro!" He heard Kirishima calling when he stepped inside Lunch Rush. Katsuki looked over at him with a glare, noticing that he was waving him over.

"What the fuck do you want, Shitty Hair?"

"I know you might be cranky since you haven't eaten yet, but Midoriya left this for you!" The redhead chirped, motioning over to a tray that contained spicy noodles and milk. "He even asked Todoroki to keep it warm for you. He didn't want you exploding half of the building because you were hungry."

Todoroki sent a curt not his way and, surely enough, his left hand was on top of the bowl, a small steam emanating from his palm. The heterochromatic retreated his hand when the blond made his way to it, staring at it dumbfounded. He slowly sat down in his chair, not even minding that Todoroki was right next to him.

"Speaking of, where have you been man? You're never late to lunch," Kirishima pointed out, stuffing his mouth with his food. Katsuki ignored him as his eyes searched for the greenette. It didn't take him long to find the unruly mess of green curls a few tables away.

Izuku sat with Iida and Tsuyu, Uraraka making her way to their table. As if sensing Katsuki's eyes on him, he looked his way. The minute their eyes met, it was as if the breath got stuck in Katsuki's throat. The wide grin that Izuku offered him was blinding, and it made his heartbeat quicken.

Katsuki couldn't help the small smile that tugged at his lips, making Izuku grin even wider and give him a small wave. He looked back down at his plate of steamy spicy noodles and shook his head in amusement. Even at times like that, Izuku was thinking of him. And he couldn't be any more grateful for the human broccoli head.

He recalled Uraraka's words, and in that moment he realized just how much he wanted Izuku to be his. To kiss and hug him whenever he pleased, go out on dates, be with each other. He wanted to call Izuku his boyfriend for once and for all, without worrying about what other people would say.

It was time for him to get over his fear of coming out.

"You look creepy smiling like that," Sero shuddered from his left. "What the hell has you smiling?! It is such a rare sight. Don't tell me. Does Bakugo has an eye on a girl?! Is she hot?"

"Don't be stupid, man! Ain't no way Bakubro likes someone," Kirishima laughed, nudging him. "Come on, tell him!"

On his right, Todoroki fought back a knowing smirk.

"I'm gay," Katsuki blurted out, casually eating his noodles. Silence settled over his table, the only sound being that of chopsticks hitting their empty plates. On any other occasion, Katsuki would've made fun on them. But at the moment, he was almost trembling with nerves.

Sero and Kirishima both shared a glance, before turning their attention back to Katsuki. To his surprise, Kirishima offered him a wide smile. "Welcome to the club!"

Katsuki looked up at the two with a blank face, but his eyes held surprise in them. When the two boys took notice of it, they laughed.

"Well, Sero and I are bi, but Kaminari is gay. And now you too! This is great man!" Kirishima exclaimed happily, patting his shoulder.

He might not say it out loud, but Katsuki was relieved. None of them were being judgmental about it, and it lifted a weight off his shoulders. Todoroki listened on their conversation nonchalantly as he finished off his cold soba before speaking. "Hmm, I wonder just who Bakugo is gay for..."

Katsuki whipped his head in his direction with wide eyes, fighting off the blush that threatened to tint his cheeks a rosy color. He fucking knows!

Sero gasped. "Oh. My. God. So I was right! You do like someone—not a girl, obviously—but you do!"

"That is so manly," Kirishima almost sobbed while holding a fist over his heart. Katuski looked at him incredulously, not knowing what to say. It was the second time that day that he had been rendered speechless.

"So, who is it?" Sero asked, leaning forward and wiggling his eyebrows. "Is he in our class?"

Katsuki quickly finished off his noodles, chugging down his milk then pushing the tray away from him. The other boys watched curiously as the blond stood up from his chair stomping away. Fuck it.

For a moment, Sero and Kirishima thought they had pissed him off, but were pleasantly surprised to see Katsuki not stomping over the exit, but rather stomping over to a table. Todoroki leaned back in his chair with crossed arms, a pleased smile resting upon his face as he watched the scene unfold.

Katsuki reached Izuku's table in a few steps, and the greenette looked up at him curiously. Suddenly, Katsuki's hands gripped the front of Izuku's blazer and pulled him up from his chair harshly. Before Izuku could say anything, Katsuki crashed their lips together and shut his eyes tightly.

Gasps filled the cafeteria and hollers came from Katsuki's table, Sero screaming something among the lines of "get it, man!". Despite his shock, Izuku kissed him back, letting out a breath through his nose. After a few seconds, Katsuki pulled away, catching his breath.

"Will you be my boyfriend?" The blond muttered as he looked intently at Izuku's jade orbs. Color rushed to Izuku's face, and a happy gleam coated his eyes before he placed his hands on top of Katsuki's tenderly.

"Yeah," Izuku whispered breathlessly, the sound of whistling and hollers filling the background.

"Hell yeah!" Uraraka exclaimed, jumping up from her seat. All eyes turned to her as she suddenly pulled Tsuyu to her feet, basically doing the same thing Katsuki did and crashing their lips together. Izuku and everyone else gasped, even more hollers and claps being heard.

Iida suddenly stood up, pushing his glasses further up his nose with flushed cheeks. "This is such inappropriate place to display public affection! You are disrupting everyone's meals and it is not—!

"Shut up, Four Eyes!" Katsuki grumbled just before the bell signaling the end of lunch period rang. Katsuki placed an arm around Izuku's shoulders and pulled him away from all the muttering and commotion that was being drowned out by the school bell.

All of that didn't matter to him.

What mattered was the green bundle of joy that walked alongside him, who he could now officially call his boyfriend.
