Chapter 27
Chapter 27
What...was happening? It couldn't be real...could it? There was no way that Katsuki Bakugo, the one boy he had been crushing on for so long, had just kissed him. It had to be a dream. It simply had to!
Only that...it wasn't.
Everything was very much real. The warm, rough hands holding his face with a gentleness he didn't think was possible. The tingling sensation that remained in his lips after the kiss. The erratic beating of his heart that went into overdrive as he stared into Katsuki's ruby red eyes in shock.
The same eyes that widened as the realization of what had just happened dawned on him.
"Shit!" Katsuki cursed, letting go of Izuku as if he was on fire and his skin had just burned him. His breathing became heavy as he registered the shock in Izuku's eyes, whatever anger the greenette had felt vanishing completely.
"Ka—"
"I-I'm sorry. I-I better get going," Katsuki stuttered out, wincing and covering his mouth as he walked backwards towards the door. He couldn't believe he just did that!
"Wait!" Izuku called out in panic, Katsuki stumbling over his feet as he rushed out of his room. Izuku touched his lips, reminiscing the feeling of the blond's lips before he snapped out of it and ran after him. His eyes were wide in disbelief as he exited his room, not even bothering in closing his door.
He thought he had lost Katsuki, but thankfully, he saw his spiky hair disappearing over the steps that led to the common room. "Kacchan!"
The blond was feeling conflicted, fastening his pace when he heard Izuku calling after him. He felt so stupid. Izuku already liked someone! What was he thinking kissing him out of nowhere and saying such cheesy shit?!
His heart sank just thinking about who could've possibly stolen the greenette's heart—probably that half and half bastard. They were pretty close, weren't they? Of course the nerd would like that idiot over him. But even so...he couldn't stop thinking about Izuku's plump lips against his.
His train of thought was interrupted when he accidentally bumped into someone. He scowled deeply, ready to snap at whoever was in his way before his eyes landed on Uraraka. Blinking, he looked over his shoulder to make sure Izuku wasn't in eyesight. When he noticed the coast clear, he grabbed the brunette by her shoulders and pulled her to a corner.
"Baku—"
"Shh!" Katsuki shushed, putting his index finger over his lips. Uraraka narrowed her eyes, not liking the rude interruption. She was about to say something, but the panicked look in the blond's eyes prevented her from it.
"What's going on?" She spoke lowly, now alert. Was there a villain attack going on?! Why was Katsuki so on edge?
"I need you to distract Deku," Katsuki spoke in a rush, looking over his shoulder yet again. At this, Uraraka raised her eyebrow in suspicion.
"What did you do?" She asked in a warning tone, glaring at the blond. She expected him to snap at her or tell her it was none of her business, but what she didn't expect was the blush that immediately colored his cheeks.
"Kacchan?!" Katsuki tensed and looked at the brunette with almost pleading eyes.
"Just...do it will you?!" He whispered harshly. She frowned but nodded nonetheless, millions of questions running through her mind. Katsuki almost let out a breath of relief when Uraraka walked out of their hiding spot and called the greenette's name.
Izuku caught sight of the brunette, rushing over to her. "Have you seen Kacchan?"
"Bakugo?" She asked, feigning innocence. "I think he went with his squad outside. Why? Did something happen?"
Katsuki took the opportunity to dash in the opposite direction, avoiding bumping into anyone else. His heart was thumping wildly, something it seemed to do whenever Izuku was around. After what he did, he didn't know how he would be able to face the grenette.
Izuku sighed defeatedly, his shoulders slumping as he ran a hand through his hair. Uraraka watched him in curiosity, genuinely wanting to know what was going on between them. Why was Katsuki running away from him? Wasn't it usually the other way around?
"Deku-kun?"
"He kissed me," Izuku confessed in a rush, cheeks flushing. Uraraka's eyes widened as she choked on her own saliva. Izuku reached out to her worriedly as she started coughing and hitting her chest.
"What?!" Uraraka squealed in shock, excitement overtaking her features. "And I haven't done anything yet!"
"That's not the case!" Izuku hissed, looking around the basically empty common room in hopes to find the blond. He frowned when he didn't, looking at Uraraka helplessly. "I-I guess it was in the heat of the moment, but he ran away right after...I-I think he regrets it."
"Oh, he better not!" Uraraka huffed, grabbing the greenette by his elbow and dragging him in the direction Katsuki had gone. Izuku furrowed his brows in curiosity, looking down at Uraraka.
"Where are you taking me?"
"To find Blasty, of course," she stated matter-of-factly. Izuku smiled fondly, putting a hand on her shoulder to stop her from walking any further.
"Thanks, Ochako, but I think this is something that I should do on my own. "
Uraraka thought for a moment before letting go of him, pointing over her shoulder sheepishly. "He went that way."
Izuku gave her a confused look. "But I thought you said—"
"I lied," Uraraka admitted guiltily, scratching the top of her head. "He bumped into me and asked me to distract you. Sorry."
Izuku's eyes widened, looking over at the direction the brunette had pointed at before looking at her one last time. "Thanks Ochako!"
"But I—" Uraraka started, her words hanging in the air as Izuku rushed away, resuming his search for Katsuki. He had so many questions that he had no answer to. For instance, why the hell did Katsuki kiss him? Only God knew how ecstatic he felt on the inside.
He ignored the stares he got from his fellow classmates. Only a few of them were hanging around the dorm as he checked every corner of the building, desperate to confront Katsuki. He didn't know where he got such confidence from, but if there was even a slight chance that Katsuki liked him back, he had to take it.
It had been around fifteen minutes of the greenette running around and asking people of the blond's whereabouts. The bastard could be sneaky when he wanted to, and it frustrated Izuku to no belief. Could it be that Katsuki really regretted kissing him? Did he not want to see him anymore?
The mere thought had Izuku feeling depressed. Suddenly, he didn't feel as confident anymore. He sucked in a deep breath, a dark feeling spreading through his chest. Shaking his head to get rid of the bad feeling, he forced his legs to keep moving. There was one last place he hasn't checked yet, and if Katsuki wasn't there, then he would definitely give up.
Izuku went up the stairs to Katsuki's floor level, heading straight for the blond's door. He pondered whether or not to knock. He knew that if Katsuki was, in fact, inside his room, the moment he noticed Izuku he would slam the door in his face. His heart was thumping with anxiety and expectation, fist shaking in mid-air right in front of the solid surface.
Only now did he realize that he didn't have a plan at all. How was he going to approach things? He couldn't just waltz in there and ask Katsuki why he had kissed him, could he? Izuku knew that the blond could easily escape, although he wouldn't let him go without a fight.
Was the chance of rejection high? Definitely. But it was better to be punched with the truth once and for all than relish on false hopes.
So, before he could chicken away, Izuku knocked on the door firmly. A few seconds passed and the only thing he could hear was his shaky breathing. He knocked again, this time stepping aside and pressing his back against the wall next to the doorframe.
Katsuki had been hiding inside his room for the past half hour when he heard the knock on his door. He decided to ignore it, hoping that whoever was on the other side would just leave, but they knocked again. Against his better judgment, Katsuki slowly made his way to the door. He took a deep, nervous breath, unlocking his door and opening it only half an inch to peak through the slit. He hoped it wasn't Izuku...
There was no one on the other side.
Scowling, Katsuki opened the door further to step outside. He was ready to curse under his breath, but movement in the corner of his eye had him turning his head. Before he could think or act properly, Izuku all but tackled him back inside his room kicking the door closed behind them.
Izuku was breathing heavily as he locked the door—or so he thought—and looked at a wide-eyed Katsuki. "Why the hell did I not think of searching here first?"
"Why the fuck are you here?" Katsuki growled, turning his back to the greenette with tense shoulders. His eyes desperately searched for an escape, not wanting to be in that situation. Sadly, his only escape was the window, and he would get in deep trouble if he were to jump out of it.
"Why were you running away from me?" Izuku bit back, steadying his breathing.
"I wasn't—"
"Don't lie!" Izuku hissed, causing Katsuki to flinch. "Look at me, Kacchan."
Izuku stalked forward, basically cornering the blond in his own room. Katsuki, however, didn't turn around to face him. "I knew I shouldn't have opened that damn door."
"So you were running from me," Izuku stated, staring intently at the back of Katsuki's head.
"Look, just forget about what happened earlier. I wasn't thinking, alright?!" Katsuki hissed, running a hand down his face in desperation. He would do anything to get out of that awkward conversation. Jumping out of the window started sounding like a good idea.
"You can't expect me to just forget about it!" Izuku frowned. Katsuki could feel his presence in his back, yet he still didn't move. "Look at me, please."
Suddenly, Izuku's demanding tone shifted to a broken one. It pained Katsuki, but he just wouldn't budge. The greenette had enough. He would get answers one way or another.
"Fine, have it your way then," Izuku muttered before grabbing the blond's arm and forcefully turning him around. Katsuki was about to yell at him for it, but was immediately silenced by Izuku crashing his lips against his. The greenette's scarred hand found its way to the back of Katsuki's neck as he forced their lips together.
If Katsuki wouldn't answer him with his words, then he would make him talk with his actions.
Katsuki let out a breath through his nose as his eyelids fluttered shut. The back of his neck burned with Izuku's touch and his hand involuntarily made their way to the back of Izuku's head. He kissed him back fiercefully, thriving on the feeling of the greenette's lips against his one more time.
Their hearts thundered against their ribcage, unsteady breaths mingling together in one hot mess. Katsuki wrapped one strong arm around Izuku's waist, pulling him impossibly closer. Their bodies were pressed together leaving no space between them as they shared the heated kiss. Izuku opened his mouth as an invitation which Katsuki accepted eagerly, making Izuku shudder in his arms.
Their tongues clashed together in a battle for dominance, years of bottled up feelings being unleashed in that one kiss. Although they didn't want to, they slowly pulled away to catch some air. Katsuki looked into Izuku's eyes in shock, both of them panting as they regained their breath.
Izuku's couldn't help the grin that claimed his lips, his hands going up to hold Katsuki's face tenderly. Katsuki didn't push him away. "I like you too, Kacchan."
