Annabeth

Today was the new guy's first day. Percy Jackson. He seemed nice enough, I was able to talk to him the other day while eating out. He was also pretty handsome, but I probably had no chance of a relationship with him. Somebody that nice and that attractive in New York, he was bound to have a girlfriend.
As I am in the very first shift and come early in the mornings, I have to unlock the door. I walk up to the front door, take out my keys, and look up to see somebody waiting there for the door to be unlocked. "Hi, Annabeth," he says.
"You're here early, Mr. Jackson," I reply, unlocking the door, gesturing for him to go inside.
"Thanks, uh, Annabeth, and just call me Percy, okay?" He says in return, "Mr. Jackson sounds too formal, like I'm married or something." Well, at least he's not married to whoever he's probably dating. I close the door behind me and we both walk up the three steps to the office.
"Oh, no problem, Mr- I mean, Percy," I laugh awkwardly, and he kind of joins in.
"So, where am I going to work, exactly?" He asks, looking around our office, which is sort of large.
"Here, in the office," I smile, gesturing around me.
"Well, duh, but like, which desk?" He asks again. Oh.
"Oh, well, the manager said he put your name tag on your desk, so just look around, you'll find it soon enough," I answer, walking towards my desk, which he follows me to, "And also, you have a meeting with Leo at 10 for an orientation, okay?"
"Okay, and thank you so much for opening the door," he says, starting to look around the desks.
"No problem," I reply. I sit down at my desk and open up my computer, when out of the corner of my eye, I see Percy sit down next to me, right where there used to not be a desk. Just my luck, this person, who is utterly attractive, kind, and probably has a girlfriend, is sitting right next to me. Great. Just great.
I see him unpack some pictures and things to decorate his desk, as most people do. I see a picture of him smiling with an older looking woman, probably his mom. I see another one where his arm is around a girl that looks about his age, maybe young. "Who's that?" I ask, pointing to the girl in the picture, hoping it's not his girlfriend.
"Oh, that's my friend Rachel, she's getting married next month," he smiles, "You know, her and I used to date. We just ended it because it was too weird, and now she's with the love of her life."
"Ha," I laugh, "I thought-oh never mind." My face slightly blushes as I sit down at my desk.
"You okay, Annabeth?" He chuckles, sitting down at his own desk. His sea green eyes twinkles when he laughs, and his smile spreads across his face. It just makes you want to smile with him.
"Yeah, fine," I reply, opening up my company laptop. I bring up the company statistics and begin getting to work as Percy finishes unpacking his things. Others arrive at work quickly and fill in the desks around us until about every seat is full. That is when I stand up and address the office.
"Attention, co-workers," I say, loudly enough for everyone to hear, but not yelling, "Today is the first day of a new comer to the office, his name is Percy Jackson." I motion for him to stand up and he does. "Do you have anything to say about yourself, anything noteworthy or interesting?"
"No, I'm just a regular guy," he smiles, causing the office to laugh quietly. I find it weird that he doesn't mention his swimming, but I push that past my mind.
"Okay, thank you, Percy," I smile, "You may now return to work." I glance at my clock as I sit back down. 9:50. Still early morning, I have a long day of work ahead of me.
I look through our spending charts and payment charts. We seem to be losing money, not much, only about ten dollars a day, but that can add up fast, and could get larger. I write myself a note to have a meeting with our sales associates and to email owner later. It's not like I love this company, but I don't want me or anybody else in the office to lose their job. I hear a noise and I look to my left. Percy is getting up for his orientation meeting with Leo. The two walk over to the conference room for his orientation. Sometimes I wonder why I trust Leo for these things.
A/N sorry for the long time in between updates! I have had an uncharacteristic bout of writer's block, but I'm getting back so yay!:)-Piper
