Chapter 20

Minecraft Again

As I headed back to my room, my phone started buzzing. “troy_loves_minecraft has uploaded a new video: The Nether Chronicles Finale.”

Wait, it was the finale already? Troy’s Nether Chronicles were amazing; a compelling ten-part narrative about a lonely Zombie Pigman who was prophesied to defeat an evil Enderman who was plotting to defeat his homeland. It was a bit cliche, but who cares? The animation was fantastic. Still, Troy said it was going to be ten parts in one of his videos and we were only on Part Seven.

I turned on my computer and typed in my password. I quickly found the video; it was all over the Internet. When I clicked play, I was surprised by what I saw.

It was Troy, which was strange, considering he never appears in his own videos. He was a little older than I was, maybe sixteen or so. He had pale skin and dark brown eyes and hair. He seemed tall, but it was hard to tell from the video and he was wearing a Minecraft T-shirt. Troy was kind of cute if you looked at him right.

Troy started talking. “Hello, I’m Troy and um...I make these videos in case you couldn’t tell. If you watched my videos closely, I mentioned that The Nether Chronicles were going to be ten videos long. However, I’m really, really busy right now and I don’t want to keep my wonderful subscribers waiting too long, so I’m going to end it all right here and now with Part Eight!” Troy gave the camera a big, goofy grin before continuing. “I just really want to focus on my non-Nether Chronicles videos and spending more time with all of my subscribers. Oh, and if you’re not subscribing yet, please do so! It would mean a lot to me. Anyways, I met my beautiful girlfriend Samina Yousif on here and she did Creepers Know What You Did In The Dark, which is an amazing video, I’m not sure if you guys have seen it. So...yeah, here’s the grand finale of The Nether Chronicles!”

The video started playing, but that wasn’t where my mind was. If I heard Troy correctly, Samina was his girlfriend. Troy, the famous YouTuber, was dating my artsy best friend who knew basically nothing about Troy or Minecraft in general.

I always assumed Troy was older or had a girlfriend. I never thought of the possibility of anyone like us dating Troy, let alone Samina. She only had one friend, that being me, so I always assumed she had no chance of getting a boyfriend. How long had she been chatting with Troy? I had been trying to Skype with him and had sent him countless messages that he hadn’t replied to. Why did he return Samina’s messages and not mine? Why wasn’t it me? Nothing made sense anymore.

I was gone for a weekend and everything had changed.
