Chapter Thirteen

Emilia stares out the window as she watches the trees pass by while the sun shines on her face. An irritated sigh blows out of her lips as she turns to look at Stefan who sits in the drivers seat, his eyes focusing on the road.

"So you wanna tell me why you entered the bathroom while I was showering and demanded I get out?" Emilia asks, raising an eyebrow. "Oh and then you dragged me out all the way to your car, then now you're driving me in the middle of nowhere going god knows where."

Stefan ignores her so she scoffs, "You really did lose your brain because the Stefan I know would sure know that threatening me, Emilia Gilbert, is like losing the lottery. Big mistake dude."

Stefan doesn't reply but his fingers tighten around the wheel. "Silence treatment? Okay. Unless you want me to kick you in the face and make you lose the wheel which makes us end up in a car crash then at least talk, Stefan."

"What do you want?" Stefan coldly replies, looking at her for a mere second.

"What I want is to know whats going on." Emilia answers, crossing her arms as she leans back in the leather seat.

"Bonnie has been having these dreams and she thinks it he witches trying to send her a message. Bonnie thinks the person she saw in her dream can help open the fourth coffin and that what is inside the fourth coffin could kill Klaus. The person Bonnie saw in her dream was her mom and so Elena and Bonnie looked at some of the records for a woman named Abby.

They found an address and they went on road trip to Abby's house. Elena lied to me and told me that they were staying at a lake house while they wait for the Sheriff to send them more addresses. But of course Elena didn't bother hiding the address they're heading to. So I thought you should come a long since you're trying to help Elena." Stefan says, "Plus, your company is interesting."

"You could've just told me that you needed my help with something Elena related, and I would've joined that easy." Emilia replies, "Plus, how is my company amazing?" She chuckles, shaking her head.

"I don't know. I guess it's just funny listening to you threatening me plus it's cute seeing you trying to be tough and scary." Stefan replies, looking amused as he chuckles.

"You think its funny, Salvatore?" Emilia asks, scoffing. Stefan nods, amused by the situation as she stares at him annoyingly.

Suddenly, Emilia's leg flies up and it kicks Stefan in the face. Stefan loses hold of the wheel and the car swerves swiftly in the middle of the deserted road. Emilia puts her leg back and sits properly as she adjusts her jacket while Stefan gets hold of the wheel once again.

"It's not funny now, Stefan, is it?" Emilia asks, rolling her eyes as she stretches her legs and places them on the compartment.

"I can't believe you just did that." Stefan exclaims, letting out a breath of relief.

"Next time take my threats seriously and don't use them for your entertainment. It helps, trust me." Emilia replies, rolling down the window.

"Noted." Stefan responds, sighing.

Stefan and Emilia step out of the car, their eyes scanning the small house that sits in the middle of the nowhere. "What if bloody Mary lives in here? I heard she likes to haunt nice homes." Emilia whispers, nudging Stefan's side.

"Well let's hope she invites us in." Stefan replies, smiling sarcastically at Emilia.

Emilia slaps his chest, "Don't joke about stuff like that."

"Funny how you're not afraid of an original hybrid but you're afraid of an ancient myth." Stefan points out, chuckling.

"It's not funny." Emilia scoffs, walking past Stefan as she walks around the house.

"Where are you going?" Stefan asks, raising an eyebrow.

"I sense Elena." Emilia answers as she walks over to the barn that stands behind the house. Elena stands in the middle of the barn as she walks around slowly.

Emilia creeps up behind her and once she gets close enough, she places both of her hands on Elena's shoulders. "Hey sis. Nice lake house." Elena lets out a small scream and Emilia laughs, slapping her knee.

"Emilia!" Elena gasps, turning around to look at her sister. "Oh my god! You scared me!" She pants, placing her hand on her fast beating heart.

"I know!" Emilia laughs as tears of laughter fall down her face. "And oh my god was it hilarious!" She wipes away the tears as she comes to a stop from laughing.

"Why are you here? How are you here?" Elena asks, confused.

"This ass dragged my ass here and only explained to me what happened on the way." Emilia replies, pointing her thumb at Stefan who stands behind here.

"So, what did you think, I wouldn't find out?" Stefan asks Elena when she realizes that he was here too.

"Honestly," Elena says, "I didn't care."

"This is exactly why I didn't want you in the loop, Elena." Stefan scoffs, walking to stand beside Emilia as he stares down at Elena.

"Yeah, because now you can't do whatever you want." Elena responds, crossing her arms.

"But he can do whatever he wishes to do." Emilia speaks up, "You, on the other hand, you're wanted and I'm pretty sure a wanted person doesn't drive around going to stranger's houses when they wanna stay alive. One of Klaus's hybrids could magically just pop up and - "

"That didn't happen and if it did, I could defend myself." Elena cuts her sister off, angrily.

"Oh and how do you plan on doing that, Elena?" Emilia asks, "Just kick him in the balls and take off?"

"Maybe - "

"A hybrid could take you down in less than a second, Elena, don't get all tough on me." Emilia snaps, sighing.

"What are you doing here, Emilia?" Elena asks, furrowing her eyebrows.

"I'm here to make sure you get your job done so we could go back home. Safely." Emilia answers.

"Oh and all of a sudden you decide to help, huh?" Elena asks and if there was a speaker that is attacked to Emilia's heart, you could hear it crack.

Emilia gulps, "I know I haven't been a good sister these days and I know I have been distant. But I had to get my shitty life together and figure out where I stand in this fucked up world."

"You could've let me know that you were going through a hard time and I would've helped you." Elena whispers, walking closer to Emilia. "I'm your sister, Mia, you can't just push me away."

"I know and I'm sorry for doing that." Emilia whispers, "I love you, Lena. Please forgive me." Elena nods and pulls her into an embrace, smiling brightly.

"Hey! Everything all right out here?" A dark skinned boy (not be racist) walks into the barn and raises a questioning eyebrow.

"Hey, Jamie, go back inside, okay? Please, trust me, it's better off for you there." Elena says, looking at Stefan for a second.

"I don't think so." Jamie replies, looking at Emilia and Stefan.

"I'd listen to her. Get back upstairs, man." Stefan says blankly, his fists clenching.

"I said, I don't think so." Jamie responds before Stefan grabs him by the throat and compels him, "Go back upstairs, before I tear your damn throat out. Do you understand me?"

Stefan lets go of him and Jamie walks away. "I don't think you've realized how bad you've gotten!" Elena snaps, glaring at Stefan.

"Funny how one moment we're hugging and smiling, and the other we're witness a brow boy threaten Stefan. This is fun." Emilia whispers to herself, chuckling as the other two keep bickering.

"It's the way it has to be, Elena." Stefan snaps back, angrily.

"Oh, yeah, right. Out-villain the villain. I get it." Elena replies, scoffing.

"Hey, that's what I said to Damon the other day." Emilia says, tilting her head as she looks at Elena.

Suddenly, Jamie comes back with a shotgun as he points it at Stefan. "You're not supposed to be here." Jamie says, glaring at Stefan.

"Jamie, what are you doing?" Elena asks, panicking.

"What I was told. He's not supposed to be here." Jamie replies, not looking at Elena as he slowly walks towards Stefan.

"Bruh, he's compelled." Emilia realizes before a gasp escapes her when Jamie shoots Stefan. Stefan groans and falls back on the ground on his back. Emilia's eyes widen as she stares down at Stefan groaning on the floor.

Jamie then points the shotgun at Emilia, "Don't move." He says as he grabs Elena. Elena gasps as he pulls her to a post while he keeps the gun aimed at Emilia.

"Brown boy, how about you put the gun down and let my sister go?" Emilia asks, hopefully.

"I can't hurt you. Don't make me hurt you." Jamie says as he ties Elena's hands behind her to a post while Stefan groans in pain on the ground.

"Why are you doing this?" Elena asks, breathing heavily.

"Stop moving." Jamie snaps, stepping away from Elena as he finishes untying her.

"Jamie, let me go. Jamie, he needs help!" Elena begs as Emilia narrows her eyes at Jamie. Jamie ignores Elena and stalks towards Emilia, keeping the gun pointed at her.

Emilia speeds towards him but Jamie acts fast and pulls the trigger. The fire bullet dives in Emilia's side and she yells in pain before she falls on the ground beside Stefan.

Elena gasps in horror as she watches Emilia stir on the ground while she groans in pain. "Jamie!" Abby calls her son as she walks out the house, dragging an unconscious Bonnie near a car.

"Bonnie?" Elena gasps, "Bonnie!" Jamie runs to Abby and helps her load Bonnie into the back seat of the car.

Later, Elena manages to get out of the ropes by pretending like they hurt because Jamie got compelled not to hurt Elena. Elena butt headed him with the gun and he fell unconscious to the floor. Elena then rushed to Emilia who stays shifting in pain on the ground.

"Emilia." Elena falls to the ground beside her sister. "Hold on." She whispers.

"I-I-It - " Emilia whispers in pain, "It burns."

"Okay, I'm going to get it out." Elena says, "Just dont move." Emilia nods as Elena pulls up Emilia's tank top, exposing her side. Smoke comes out of the bullet that is dug in her side. "Hold on." She whispers, using her index finger and thumb to pull out the bullet.

Emilia bites her bottom lip in pain as the bullet scrapes against her skin right before Elena pulls it out completely. Emilia lets out a big breath as she pants, thankful.

"Jesus fucking christ, I just gave birth to a bullet."

Elena rolls her eyes before she crawls to Stefan to help pull out the bullets. Emilia crawls to the wall to lean against it while her wound is busy smoking and burning. Sweat shines her forehead and her chest as she pants against the wall.

Emilia pulls up her tank top before she looks down at her wound. She hisses in pain before she looks at Elena who pulls out the bullet pieces from Stefan's chest.

"You've changed. Something is different about you. You're stronger. Tougher." Stefan says, looking at Elena.

"You're not the only one, who changed, Stefan. We all had to." Elena replies, looking in his yes for a second before she goes back to pulling the bullets out.

"It's good though." Emilia piped in, sitting up straight.

"There's something I have to tell you." Elena says, looking between Stefan and Emilia. "Both of you." She lets out a shaky breath, "I kissed Damon."

It felt like someone pushed a sharp knife into her heart and sliced it open with no doubt, no fear, and no care.

Who ever knew that three words could shatter your heart and make you bleed to death from all the pain. Not literally though.

Funny thing is that her eyes didn't even tear up, she didn't even show any type of emotion but emptiness. It's like her soul has just been sucked out of her and now she's left empty with no soul and no feelings.

Meanwhile, Stefan looks down at the ground, avoiding Elena's eyes. He's clearly upset about the bad news. He didn't feel much really since his emotions are turned off, but he did feel torn and disappointed.

Elena looks guiltily between them, "Say something. Please."

"There's nothing to say really." Emilia croaks out, her voice hoarse and broken. "All I could say is that I'm disappointed." She says shakily, "Disappointed in myself for ever believing that someone could actually love me."

"Emilia - " Elena stops when Emilia slowly starts getting up from the floor, grunting in pain. Emilia trudges out of the barn and down the path to Stefan's car. Stefan shakes his head and stands up, following Emilia out while Elena sits on the ground guiltily.

Emilia opens the passenger seat door and falls in, shutting the door softly. She looks up at the moon through the windshield and lets out a soft shaky sigh. "So this is what I get for falling in love." Emilia says, chuckling humorlessly. "Nice. Real nice." She scoffs.

Stefan steps into the driver seat and closes the door. He turns his head to look at Emilia who stares at the moon. "Are you okay?" He asks softly, his eyebrows furrowing in concern.

"I don't know, Stefan." Emilia replies tiredly before she turns her head to look at him. "Ask me that tomorrow and I'll give you the correct answer." She whispers, smiling softly.

Stefan nods before he starts the car, "So I'm guessing you want to pack your bags and leave our house." He says, pulling the car out of the driveway.

"Apparently that's what love decided for me." Emilia answers, nodding just as they drive down the dark deserted road.

♡ ♡ ♡

Emilia steps inside the Salvatore household and stomps her way down the hallway. Damon looks at her upon her arrival and he lets out a sigh of relief. "You're finally home - " Damon looks take aback when Emilia ignore him and walks up the stairs.

"Piece of advice, brother, leave her alone." Stefan mutters, crossing his arms causing Damon to turn around and look at him.

Meanwhile, Emilia throws all her clothes from Damon's closet to her suitcase that lays on top of the bed. She angrily stuffs them messily into her bag. Her pulse beats faster in anger as she stomps around the room, gathering all her stuff.

"Emilia, what's wrong?" Damon asks, stepping inside the room.

Emilia cringes at the sound of his voice but she ignores him and continues packing. "Why are you ignoring me?" Damon asks, irritated as he grabs her arm.

Emilia grunts and pulls her arm out of his hold before she points an accusing finger at him. "Don't touch me." She warns, glaring at him before she goes back to packing.

Damon sighs and watches as Emilia zips close her suitcase. "Can you at least tell me what's wrong?" He asks as Emilia wheels her suitcase to the door.

Emilia's steps halt and she turns to look at him just as a shaky breath leaves her lips. "I fell in love with you, Damon, that's what's wrong." She replies, gulping down her tears before disappears out of the door.
