Who? Anyone Home?
The faint noise of someone rasping their knuckles against hard wood pulled me from the cold abbess of the weird dream I had been experiencing moments ago. I groaned as pain spiked my body and vibrated against my skull. It took me only a second to realise that I was on the floor with some type of heavy sweat clad fabric wrapped messily around my body. How and when I had found my way to the floor was a mystery to be solved later. I probably simply fell off my chair. The sound of quick panicked knocking echoed through the house again, this time followed by a voice.
"Hello? Sir? My name is Hannah. Is everything okay?" A strong female voice called. The memories from earlier hit me forcefully and the sudden realisation of why there was a slightly panicking girl, possibly one of my neighbours, knocking frantically at my front door hit me like I had been flung at 100 kilometres an hour into the Hoover Dam.
Tentatively, I pushed, clawed and twisted against the fabric trying to break free from its smelly hold, but it clung tight. Panic kicked in as I fought against the weird fabric that seemed to have a mind of its own. I needed fresh air, my lungs felt like they'd cave in if they didn't get air now.
"Hello? Hello?... Sir, I'm going to enter the building now... Umm... The door's unlocked by the way! I'm not breaking and entering!"
Crap! Damn it! How could I have forgotten to lock the door?! I screamed mentally, a hundred and one choose curse words sounded off all at once like an army of off key trumpet players. Not caring about the fabric any more or what it was, I stood on all fours and arched my back, trying to put it under enough strain that it would be forced to tare. I heard the satisfying rip of fabric and drank greedily at the semi fresh air once my head was free of the fabric.
"Jack, no! Bad boy! Leave the lab alone! You weirdo." The girl's voice sounded off from in the living room. She was clearly talking to her pet dog, but I didn't need a possible fan knowing where I lived. I needed to hide, but I felt that it would be rude and disrespectful and very self centred of me.
Having decided on what I was going to do, I got up. Only I fall down on my face, gravity deciding to be a douche. I growled angrily at the floor and gravity resentfully. I jumped at the sound that escaped my throat. It was the same sound a cat makes when it's really really angry. Startled like a deer in headlights I removed my handsome face from the floor and looked at my hands, only they weren't hands at all. A yowl of absolute complete shock escaped my feline lips. What the heck?!
The thought of having my address discovered and plastered all over the Internet, flew out of my head and landed in the metaphorical bin in the corner, leaving me to panic over the fact that I was now staring at a pair of paws the colour of midnight. Tiny flecks of white looked like stars as they danced up my new arms and legs and covered my new extravagant body. This was by far the most weird experience ever! I couldn't help but feel as though this was some crackheads idea of a good fanfic of which they make me suffer. To be honest, I hope the author and readers feel good about themselves, cause I'll tare their eyes out. Metaphorically speaking obviously.
"Hello? Are you okay?" Hannah's voice snapped me back to my present situation. What was I, a newly transformed human-cat-thing, suppose to do? I guess this is the point when the readers start coming up with ideas. Good for you guys. You aren't the ones in a freaky new body. Your probably at home enjoying a good cup of coffee, all snuggled up on your couch, laughing at how stupid I am. Growling to myself, I grabbed the remains of what I now realise to be one of my favourite t-shirts, thanks random author who probably doesn't exist and is a figment of my confused brain, and my skinny jeans and pull them under my desk, making them into a mini pile.
Walking up to my chair, I gathered my behind beneath me and jumped. However, I underestimated the strength of my new limbs and face planted into the foam wall beside it. Screw you! Stop laughing! Growling, I picked myself up, rubbing my nose with my right paw.
"Let's do that again." I snarled viciously, daring anyone to laugh at me. Mumbling under my breath, I jumped straight onto my desk, trying and failing not to knock anything off it. Bits and bobs went everywhere. So much for being nibble. My foul mood only deepened when I noticed that my computer was off, same with my camera and mic.
"Great... Dandy... Just dandy." I spat, plonking my ass on my desk.
"Hello?" Hannah asked, sticking her head into my workspace. "Oh! Hello! Aren't you the cutest little thing!"
Hannah's lush, vibrant green eyes lit up as she walked into the room and reached her hand out to pet me. I ducked her outstretched hand and retreated closer to the foam padded wall. I wasn't sure if I wanted anyone to touch me just yet. Who knows? I might accidentally turn some else into a cat if they touch me. The hurt was evident in the young lady's face as she respected my wish of not being petted and exited the room after giving it a once over. I watched her go and felt horrible instantly. She was just being a nice person by checking to make sure I was alright, but than I go and reject her when she might be able to help me. I'm such a nice person.
"That was harsh, dude." A voice remarked from below. Moving closer to the edge of the desk, I looked below me and found a Boarder Collie staring up at me with miss matched eyes.
"I'm sorry, but I'm just not use to being petted." I replied, jumping down to sit level with the dog. The dog wagged its tail contently when I sat opposite him, a loop sided grin playing upon his canine mouth.
"She doesn't like being rejected. But than, nobody does." The Collie pointed out, scratching behind his ear. "She's a lovely person and cares about others. Hence why she came to see if the human who lives here is okay. Names Jack."
"I'm that human that was shouting earlier. I was somehow turned into a cat. It's nice to meet you Jake. My names Mark." I stated, holding out my paw for him to shack, completely forgetting that animals don't greet each other with a handshake. However, clearly Jake knew how to shack, because his placed his paw on mine and bobbed our paws in a shack like manner. This was turning out to be not such a bad day after all.
