Lets Fly!
Almost 700 reads! WHAT?! OoO Thank you all so much!
"Where are we going?" Mark asked after we had put a reasonable amount of distance between us and the hell we had just escaped. Pausing mid step, I glanced both ways before I sprinted across a four lane road and hide under a parked car. Mark joined me shortly after, though he had to hide under a land-rover behind the small car I hide under.
"Where do you need to go?" I asked, keeping an eye on all the people that walked past, begging that the owns of both cars didn't need to go anyway anytime soon.
"Ireland." Mark replied, ducking further under the car when a young boy and his mother stepped between the cars before crossing the road. There were people everywhere. In the past this area was usually quite, but a cafe had replaced a old sewing shop beside the library. Both building sat on our side of the road and loomed over the cars that Mark and I were hiding under.
Crap, I thought to myself, This is going to be a little complicated.
"You can get me there, right? Or do you know someone who can?" Mark asked. Popping my head out from under the car, I scanned the side walk, until I saw what I wanted.
"I can you to Ireland," I replied, weighting the possibility of me getting into and out of the building without being spotted, "I just need to check something. Stay out of sight." I commanded before I shot down along the street, diving under cars and zig zagged my way to the library entrance. Timing it right, I dived under an old lady's skirt and entered the building. Pecking from under the front, I waited until the lady was waddling into the Non-Fiction section of the library, before I darted out from under her skirt, careful not to draw attention to myself, and whizzed over to the computers. Darting under the desks, I spied an empty computer chair. Checking that on one was going to take it, I weaved my way to the computer.
Jumping up onto the desk, I was glad that there was a dividing walls, that the computer was in the corner of the room and an old man sat in the stall beside me. He was currently reading an important email with the speed of a grandfather snail, with big round glasses perched on his head. Ignoring the old man, I signed into the computer, brought up Google and typed in what I needed to know.
"Ma'am," The old man asked me, he didn't have good eyesight and his glasses weren't helping him much as they slide down his nose, "Can you help me? I can't seem to figure out how to log out of this here contraption." Nodding, I used his mouse to exit out of the screen and then log out of the computer, before returning to my screen and doing the same (being that I got what I came into the library for). Thanking me, the old man got up, pushed in his chair, grabbed his walking stick and a wheel around trolley and started the slow walk out of the library. Dividing after the old man, I jumped into the trolley, covering myself with a small clean blanket.
The old man grunted as he walked, muttering about his hips and the fight he had had earlier trying to get the door of the library to open. Finally arriving at the front door, I heard the old man struggling with the door and was glad to hear someone come to help the old man outside. Once we were fully outside and the coast was clear, I divided out of the trolley, under a car and back to where I left Mark. Who was still under the same land rover.
"Where did you go?" Mark asked worried, "I lost track of you when you divided out from under the cars and disappeared."
"Follow me." I stated, diving out from under the car and taking off in the direction of the airport. Glancing over my shoulder, I was glad to see Mark hot on my heels, his longer limbs allowing him to keep up easily. Returning my attention to where we were going, I shot under a stationary car, waiting at a red light and raced across the road.
Mark and I continued to weave our way through traffic and streets, avoiding people as much as we could. A couple of times Mark would save me from being hit by a car and vice versa. If Mark thought that avoiding death by vehicles was hard, avoiding airport staff who would be most likely to hand us over to the authorities, preventing Mark to get to his friend.
Pausing under a stationary fuel truck, the fums from the fuel attacked my senses as the dark liquid poured into the truck. Keeping an eye and ear on the guy filling the truck, I searched all the planes that were waiting to be loaded full of people. Spotting the plan that I needed, I turned to Mark.
"It's not going to be easy to get past all the security, stuff and passengers," Nodding in the direction of the plane that we needed to get on, I gave him a quick run down of what we would need to do to get on the plane. "We can't be on the plane where the passengers or stuff can easily stumble upon us. We need to get into the baggage compartment."
"Isn't that dangerous?"
"It probably is, but its the only way we will be able to get to Ireland without much hassle," I answered, "We need to drink some water before we get on the plane and empty our bladders. There probably isn't going to be time for us to find something to eat and get onto the plane in time." I stated, motioning for Mark to follow me. Racing across the hot bitumen, I climbed up into a beverage truck that had just parked after getting the trolleys from a flight that was just about to leave. After a quick search through all the trolls, I located some unused water bottles. Grabbing one with my mouth, I through it down to where Mark was waiting for me. Grabbing the bottle in his mouth, Mark took cover under a near by truck and ripped into his bottle. Grabbing one for myself, I jumped down and raced over to Mark.
"Wouldn't they notice that they are missing some waters?" Mark asked, half the bottle already finished. Ripping into mine, I took several gulps of the refreshing water before I replied.
"No, that truck reloaded a plane that just landed, so we only took waters that weren't needed." I replied. Drinking as much as I could, I left the bottle and hide behind a truck wheel and did my business. Returning to the ripped bottles, I waiting for Mark to return, before we headed over to the loading dock. Diving under some empty trolls, the type used to transfer bags to the awaiting planes, and spied on the men loading some other trolleys a distance from us. Focusing my eyes on one of the tags, I spotted the code for Ireland on the bags that the men were loading onto the trolleys to go out to the plane. Cursing under my breath, I turned to Mark.
"We need to get to those trolleys," I indicated to the trolleys currently being loaded, "We are going to need to get over there without being seen. Any ideas?" I asked Mark. Baffled that I was asking for his input, Mark looked over at the trolleys. I could see the gears in his head turning over as he thought about how we could get over there without anyone noticing.
"I have an idea." Mark stated, motioning for me to follow him. Ducking out from under the trolley, we raced along a conveyor belt, that currently wasn't being used and jumped up onto the conveyor belt rolling to the men loading the bags. Spying a bag that looked fairly empty, I unzipped it and motioned for Mark to get in, before I zipped it up.
"I'll get you out after they closes the compartment." I whispered loud enough for Mark to hear, before I jumped off the conveyor belt and pressed myself up close against the under side, the lip helping to hide me partially from view. Once I got close enough to the trolleys, I dived under the closest one. Heart in my mouth, I ducked to the very front trolley, which was already completely loaded, and jumped up onto the frame, my back pressed against the metal dividing me from the bags.
"Your all good to go!" A guy shouted to the driver of the luggage car. With a roar of an engine coming to life, the car took off, the trolleys in tow to the awaiting plane. Coming to a stop beside the plane, I waited patiently for an opening, so I could dive under the plane and work my way to the compartment. My plan changed when I noticed a couple of the men struggling with a bag. Seeing an opportunity, I ducked from my cover and raced to the two men and jumped up to the underside of the canvas bag and dug my claws into the bag. Flattening my body against the underside of the bag as much as I could, I clenched my teeth against the feeling of my claws taking the full weight of my body.
Thankfully, there was two men inside the plane that grabbed the top and held it above the bottom of the compartment, allowing me time to remove my claws and spring into the compartment and take cover among the bags that were already on the plane. Sighing with relief, I moved to a better position and waited for Mark's bag to be loaded onto the plane.
Spying it as the next bag to be put onto the plane, I made a beeline for the bag, unzipped it allowing Mark to get out, before I re-zipping it and ducked for cover. After all the bags were loaded onto the plane and the compartment doors were sealed, only then did Mark or I take a breath of relief that we had made it onto the plane.
Strolling over to where Mark was, I flopped down beside him and let out a sigh.
"That was more scary and exciting then any video game that I have ever played." Marked laughed. I couldn't help my toothy grin and chuckle as I steeled my nerves.
"Ireland, here we come." I stated.
