Surprising Twist

They saw some unfamiliar people entering the room hurriedly to approach them, but they recognized the leading face.

Dr. Smith smiled widely and Olivia's pale face started to turn alive. She got a ray of hope in her broken heart when her eyes met with the familiar face after a long time, and the person was none other than her mother Evelyn Whitley, Ronaldo Whitley's wife.

"Mama!" a whisper escaped from Olivia's mouth, in reply to that critical situation. At that time, she wanted to hug her mother tightly to release the burden of her heart by crying her heart out.

Unfortunately, all her inner desires vanished like camphor within the next few seconds, when Evelyn shifted her gaze from her daughter and instructed her people in a serious dominant voice, "Clear the room fast!"

Olivia felt a stinging pain in her heart when she noticed her mother wasn't giving her attention. She glanced at her mother with helplessness and shock, as she had expected her mother to embrace her right after their meeting. But in reality, her mother was busy doing her job by ignoring her maternal role. She thought her mother might have started to hate her for her deeds, and she could not blame her either for hating her, because she married Leo without her permission.

Meanwhile, four boys began their work, following instructions from their madam. They positioned themselves around the hospital bed, each holding essential medical equipment necessary to sustain the person who had fallen into a coma.

Evelyn grabbed her daughter's shoulders and tried to lift her from the floor to make her stand properly. Olivia got up from the floor and stood like a lifeless body in front of her mother, staring at her face with glossy eyes. It seemed as though she wanted to read her mother's inner thoughts about her.

She gave one glance at her daughter which conveyed blank emotions. After that, she ordered her in a solemn tone while fixing her sharp eyes on her men, "Come back to your senses, we have to leave this place now! Dr. Smith, we are ready!"

Olivia could not understand what her mother wanted to do at that time. Her mind was puzzled, trying to comprehend what was happening and, most importantly, how they could escape when the police had already reached the same floor.

She came out of her thoughts when she heard Dr. Smith's reply.

"Yes, Eve, be careful!"

Evelyn gave a nod in reply. Then Dr. Smith rushed toward the couch and pressed the hidden button behind it. As a result, Olivia dilated her eyes in surprise when she saw the floor start to go downwards along with her father's bed and those four men, just like we used to see during stage performances. Then she understood that the room had been made with many secrets including that trap door and those hidden stairs.

Evelyn exclaimed, "Run!" and hurried toward the bathroom, grasping her daughter's hand. Consequently, Olivia followed her mother, running without hesitation.

                                  ***

After entering the bathroom Evelyn closed the door and left her daughter's hand. Olivia saw the bathroom was normal except for one thing. She could not find a reason behind the existence of a large mirror inside a hospital bathroom. But as usual, she again enlarged her eyes in shock when she saw her mother place her right palm on the right corner of the mirror, and within the next few seconds, it was divided into two pieces. As a result, the inside of an elevator appeared in front of them.

"We need to leave now," Evelyn said, grabbing her daughter’s right hand and pulling her along. They entered the elevator, and Olivia's mother pressed the 'B' button to reach their destination.

The elevator gate closed with a chiming sound, and without wasting a second, Evelyn pulled her daughter into a tight embrace. It was a moment her daughter had been craving ever since she saw her mother in front of her.

"I'm so sorry for being late, Oli. Mama is so sorry. Please forgive me!" Her eyes were filled with tears as she spoke, showing a sense of guilt.

A muffled sob escaped from Olivia's mouth in reply. She wrapped her hands around her mother, clutching the back of her coat tightly. At last, she burst into tears, releasing the burden she had been holding in her heart for a long time.

She felt as if she had finally found some bunches of straw to clutch tightly in her fist while helplessly flowing in the deep stream of the river. The realization that her mother did not hate her gave her the willpower to face the dangers awaiting her in prison and move on to her new, dark life.

"Mama!" she uttered while crying.

Her mother kissed her head and, in a gentle but firm manner, said, "Don't worry, my baby. Mama is here. No one will be able to touch you because I won't allow anyone to harm you." After saying this, she began to rub her daughter's back with her right palm to calm her down.

                                   ***

After a few moments, the elevator stopped with a light jerk, causing Olivia to step back from the hug. She looked at her mother with red, puffy, teary eyes. Her mother wiped her cheeks while offering a small, hopeful smile in return, her own eyes moist with emotion.

The elevator opened with a chime, revealing the hospital's back parking lot, designated for medical equipment transports only.

They emerged from the elevator, holding each other's hands in a tight grip. Olivia watched as four men shifted her father's bed and medical equipment onto a medical supply vehicle, sparking curiosity and confusion in her mind. Her voice broke and mixed with confusion, she asked, "Mama, where are they taking my Dad?"

Evelyn was about to answer when she was interrupted by one of her men's question.

"Ma'am, can we leave now?"

"Yes, escort him to JFK airport and ensure the pilot takes off immediately toward LHR. Max, be cautious. I have faith in you!" Evelyn's confident instructions were met with a nod of acknowledgment from him.

"Thank God, Mama is moving Dad to London; now Uncle DK can't do anything to hurt him. I can live my dark life without worrying about my parents. I haven't left any reasons behind that would increase my anxiety and weaken me. I hope my existence fades from my parents' memories within the next ten years; because out of sight, out of mind. I don't want my parents to live their lives with any stigma on their foreheads due to my activities." Olivia thought to herself, a small happy smile gracing her face.

She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the engine of the medical equipment vehicle, noticing that the four men had already gotten into the car. Within the next few seconds, the vehicle began to drive towards the airport. The daughter and her mother watched the car until it disappeared from their sight.

"Not only your Dad, but we all are going to my house now so that no one can dare to touch you or your Dad!" after looking back at her, Evelyn replied, while patting her daughter's head with a soft smile on her face because she knew her daughter would never agree with her decision.

After hearing her mother's plan, Olivia stepped back a few steps in reply. Then she questioned her mother with sarcasm and an incredulous expression, "Mama, you want to save a criminal like me just because your blood is running in my veins? Where is your morality, your dignity, your fundamental principles that I have seen since my childhood? Has your core belief started to fade away after seeing your daughter's miserable situation?"

Evelyn started to rub her temple with her right palm while looking down, which indicated that she was losing her patience. She took some deep breaths, closing her eyes to control her frustration. A small bittersweet smile appeared on Olivia's face as she saw her mother's reaction and knew that within the next few seconds, she would receive a hard slap from her mother as a reward for her questions.

But as usual, once again she was stunned when Evelyn took a few steps forward to close the gap between them and held her daughter's face with both palms. Then, in a gentle manner and with positive hope in her eyes, she asked, "Oli, baby, please tell your Mama what happened at the Snyder Villa and whom you are trying to save by taking all the blame?"

After hearing her mother's pleading voice, Olivia's heart started to beat fast, and her throat became dry at the thought that her mother had caught her red-handed. Suddenly, she felt like she couldn't breathe. She licked her lips in nervousness because she couldn't find a smooth lie to cover her mother's scrutiny.

"Mama, how is Ed?" Olivia asked her mother to change the topic. Besides that, she had almost forgotten about him because of all the incidents that had happened to her over the past two days.

Evelyn knew that her daughter would get another shock after knowing the truth about her childhood friend Edric. But she didn't want to play any hide-and-seek game with her daughter. She knew she couldn't hide the truth from her for a long time and if Olivia would get the news from others then she would never forgive her mother for lying to her.

Aside from that, she lacked the courage to convey the bitter truth to her daughter. So she took her hands from her cheeks and pulled her cell phone out of the pocket of her black long coat. After that, she opened one of the news portals and handed it over to her daughter.

                     Breaking News:

The mysterious man who had been discovered in Snyder Villa with severe injuries passed away last night.

However, the police were able to identify him by examining his credit card. His name was Edric Bowen, a childhood friend of Leo Snyder and Olivia Snyder. He worked with Olivia in the marketing team of a food company in Los Angeles. He got the job two and a half years ago and moved there. Olivia joined his team twenty-one months ago. He returned to New York a few days ago and tragically lost his life in the conflict involving his friends.

After reading the news, Olivia chuckled sarcastically and gave back the phone to her mother. Tears began to fall from her both eyes in silence. Out of the blue, she started to wipe the tears from her cheeks with both hands to prevent them from coming out with full force like a mad person. Her mother grabbed her wrists and said in a soft but firm voice while looking straight into her daughter's eyes, "You didn't do anything wrong. It was an accident. Don't blame yourself for everything."

"I never thought that the end of 'LOVE' would have been this pathetic: Three among us are dead, and I have become a soulless body." Olivia's reply came with trembling lips, causing her mother to widen her eyes in disbelief and lose her grip on her daughter's wrists.

"What! What did you say? What happened to Vinson?" Evelyn asked her with a shocking facial expression.

                               ***

Meanwhile, when those police officers entered the same cabin they found it empty. As a result, one of them dialed Dk's number without wasting any second.

"Hello," DK uttered after receiving the call.

"Sir, sorry to disturb you, but are you sure that Olivia Snyder is in the C.N. hospital?" Andrew Gray, one of the loyal subordinates of DK asked him in a confused voice.

"Why are you asking me such a meaningless question?" DK scolded him instead of giving him an answer.

"We asked at the reception for Ronaldo Whitley. They informed us that his wife had come and discharged him three hours prior. To confirm the news, we went to the cabin where he was admitted, only to find it empty. I suspect she went to the airport to meet her father because Martin might have told her everything before heading to the BRN bridge." Andrew reported everything to him in detail.

"They all are lying. Everyone is present in the hospital. Listen to me very carefully: the hospital is made with different types of secrets, which I don't know either. But Evelyn knows everything. So, she is trying to save her daughter and husband. Search the whole hospital, including the back parking lot. I think they will try to escape that way. You will find them together if you reach there immediately," DK's face showed both seriousness and frustration as he spoke.

"Okay, Sir," Andrew said and cut the call. After that, he instructed others, "We have to search everywhere. Let's divide and search for them; it will save our time, and we will catch them soon."

Other officers nodded in response.

                                  ***

At the same time, in the back parking lot of the hospital, Evelyn was asking her daughter about the truth continuously.

"Oli, please, baby tell me the truth."

"Mama, if I tell you everything, can you let me do whatever I want?" Olivia's question came with visible exhaustion. She knew her mother would not stop asking her the same question until she got the answer, since she adopted the stubbornness from her mother.

Evelyn's heart trembled in fear after listening to her daughter's question. She knew her daughter didn't want to live because of some guilt in her heart, which was the reason she refused to take an advocate to defend her in court. However, she had no choice but to agree with her daughter's stipulations.

She held both of her daughter's hands and replied in a gentle tone to assure her, "Your mama will stay beside you until her last breath and support you, no matter who or whatever comes in front of your way."

Olivia sobbed after seeing her mother's unconditional love for her. She realized that the separation was unable to create a wall between them. She felt guilty at the thought that her mother prioritized her job over her maternal duties.

"Mama, Leo killed Vini, so I shot him to give justice to my first love," Olivia said in a broken voice, looking straight into her mother's eyes. Then she wrapped her mother in a strong hug and began to cry uncontrollably.

On the other hand, Evelyn was left speechless after learning the bitter truth of her daughter's life. With trembling hands, she held her daughter tightly in her embrace to protect her, and started patting her back to comfort her in silence.

"Mama, I have loved Vini since childhood, but he was madly in love with Leo," Olivia said, breaking the silence. She began to share her story with her mother, a secret that had been kept among the four of them, including herself.

                                   ***

In the meantime, Andrew and his fellow officers started running toward the elevator to reach the back parking lot as soon as possible. While it was unfortunate for them, it was a relief for the mother and daughter that they couldn't enter the elevators because three of them stopped working out of the blue. They pressed the buttons several times in a rush, but nothing happened. They realized their senior's hunch was correct: Olivia Snyder and her mother were there, and some people from the hospital were helping them to escape.

"Let's take the stairs; we have to catch them at any cost," with a look of seriousness, Andrew spoke, then started running toward the stairs. His fellow officers followed him without saying a word.

                                  ***

After reaching the ground floor, they were divided into four pairs and spread to four sides of the hospital. Andrew and a female officer took the left side from the reception to reach the backside of the hospital quickly. However, they had to stop halfway when Andrew tried to open a door and found it locked. Glancing upward, he saw a sign on the door that read 'Only For Hospital Staff.'

"Shit!" he uttered in frustration and hit his right fist on the closed door. His face began to redden with anger as he took heavy, long breaths. Without wasting a second, he returned to the reception and said to the receptionist in a deep, stern voice, "Give me the key to that door."

"Sir, I don't understand. Which door are you talking about?" the receptionist asked, her face reflecting a sense of innocence.

"We want to check the back parking lot. Give me the key," Andrew replied once more with a serious expression.

The receptionist gave him a calm smile and replied politely, "Sorry, sir. I can't give you the key without permission from our hospital authorities; it's a rule."

"Listen, miss. We are searching for a most-wanted murderer who escaped from the court premises while being transferred to jail. If you don't want to get involved in any trouble or face legal action, then give me that key without making any drama!" Andrew threatened her, hoping she would give the key out of fear.

In the past, he had succeeded in getting information by using his 'legal action' tricks. But he was disappointed when the receptionist again answered courteously with a cute smile on her face, "Sure, sir, I'll cooperate with all legal proceedings because I didn't do anything wrong or illegal. But I can't break the rules."

Andrew started fuming in anger after hearing her reply. He was about to say something, but he was forced to shut his mouth when the receptionist shifted her gaze from him to his behind, and stated in a gentle but mocking tone, "Dr. Smith, the officer wanted me to break the rules of the hospital, but I refused to do that. Do I have to face legal action for refusing his illegal demand?"

He turned his back when he heard Dr. Smith's reply. "Nope, but I'm afraid," he stopped for a few seconds to lock eyes with Andrew, to address his inappropriate behavior with the receptionist, "The officer may have to face a legal case for threatening a member of our hospital staff to fulfill his unlawful request." the last sentence he said in an intimidating tone, with a smirk on the left corner of his lip.

A sarcastic chuckle escaped from Andrew's lips in frustration. Then he warned the doctor with an aggressive demeanor, "Dr. Smith, your attitude is suggesting to me that the murderer is here, and all the staff of the hospital, including you, are helping her to escape."

"If you know everything, then why don't you find her instead of wasting your time threatening me or her? For your kind information, I'd like to say that in the past, we had to face an unwanted incident for not locking that door. A criminal escaped from that door by stabbing our staff who were working at the back parking lot to unload the medical equipment from the transport vehicle. We didn't want to repeat that incident, so we decided to lock the door. If you want the key, kindly submit the search warrant to obtain it. I think it's a way that can help us avoid facing any kind of litigation." Dr. Smith gave him a long lecture in a peaceful voice to buy some time.

Andrew released a deep sigh of defeat, only for the moment, as his mind began to devise a new trick to convince the doctor to give him the key.

                                 ***

Meanwhile, after hearing all the truth from her daughter's mouth, Evelyn felt a mix of pride and sadness for her daughter's situation.

On one hand, she was so proud of her child for sacrificing her love to keep alive their friendship and for giving a new life to those lovebirds. She could imagine how her daughter used to give fake smiles to everyone to hide her heartache.

She could guess how much Olivia loved Vinson, that she didn't hesitate to get a fake marriage with Leo, to maintain the social status, keep them safe from the sarcastic talks of our judgemental society, including her father-in-law, Mr. Liam Snyder, who would not think twice to kill his own son with his lover right after knowing that his son was a gay.

On the other hand, her heart was shattered into a million pieces as she thought about the pain her daughter had been hiding for the last few years. However, her sacrifices were washed away in the blink of an eye when she faced a terrible incident as a result of her efforts.

She could understand Olivia's mental state upon discovering that her love had died at the hands of his life partner, for whom she had gone so far. Additionally, Evelyn felt guilt lingering in a corner of her heart for not breaking the promise she had made with her child a few years ago. She thought that if she had come to her child a few years earlier, breaking the promise, she might have been able to prevent her from entering a house built upon sand.

Her heart longed to cry out, but she couldn't because of her daughter. She knew that if she cried, Olivia would break down mentally. So she closed her eyes and took long breaths to control her emotions.

After a couple of minutes, she opened her eyes and said in a soft voice, "I'm proud of you, my baby. I can't believe that my little girl has become so mature, unafraid to play with fire. You knew from the beginning that the flames would burn you every day, seeing your love in the arms of another man. Yet, you dared to play the game, risking your happiness. You did nothing wrong by killing Leo. It was the circumstances that were wrong, leading you to that action. Maybe I would have done the same if I were in your place. I'm glad you've chosen to keep their truth a secret forever. There's no point in revealing the truth, which would only tarnish the memories of those who are no longer with us."

Olivia squeezed her mother even tighter while sobbing in response. Evelyn took a deep breath to gather all her courage and pulled away from the hug. Then she wiped the tears from her daughter's cheeks and asked again, in a pleading tone, while placing her right palm on Olivia's left cheek, "Oli, I respect your decision. I know you want to seek atonement by spending ten years in prison for killing Leo. I also hope that you will amend all your mistakes. But in return, can you promise me that you will come back to my arms after you find satisfaction?"

Olivia nodded in reply without hesitation. She grabbed her mother's hands and smiled for the first time since the incident. Then, in a shaky voice, she said, "Mama, thank you for believing in me and supporting me. I thought you would hate me after knowing everything, but once again, you've proven me wrong. I promise you, I'll come back to you right after I'm released from prison. Mama, I think Uncle DK is involved in Dad's accident, so please don't let him go this time." The last sentence she stated with a pleading expression.

"Don't worry, my baby, this time DK has to face his karma," she replied through gritted teeth in anger.

Olivia released a sigh of relief and said, "Mama, please take care of Dad and yourself too." After saying the last sentence, she kissed her mother's palms.

"Oli, the real danger is waiting for you. You don't have any idea that..." Evelyn couldn't complete her sentence when she noticed an evil smirk appear in the left corner of her daughter's lips in reply to her concern.

"Mama, did you forget what Uncle DK told you about me?" Olivia asked her mother in a rasping voice, but in a mocking tone.

Evelyn laughed in reply to her daughter's question, recalling some memories.

"I'm a copycat of 'Chamelyn,' so danger should be scared of me instead of me being scared of it. See you, Mama, after ten years," she said with a lot of confidence in her voice, tears gathering in her eyes again.

Evelyn kissed both of her daughter's cheeks and forehead several times, her eyes glossy in reply. After that, she extended her right palm toward her daughter, and Olivia placed her left palm on it, intertwining their fingers in a strong grip without wasting a second.

                                  ***

At the same time, in front of the hospital reception, Andrew was busy trying to convince Dr. Smith with his tricks to get the key to that door. He used a lot of tricks but failed because of his rude attitude and conceitedness.

"Dr. Smith, please try to understand the critical situation. If Olivia Snyder succeeds in escaping from here, people will lose trust in the doctors and hospital staff. She is a murderer and a sly fox who killed her husband and surrendered herself to gain sympathy. But she showed her true colors by escaping from the court premises right after receiving her punishment. You are one of the responsible residents of our country. Kindly fulfill your duties by showing loyalty to the citizens of New York," Andrew said in a gentle voice mixed with humility rather than arrogance.

Dr. Smith smirked in victory. He was about to say something to the officer when his phone vibrated in the pocket of his trousers. Retrieving his mobile, he opened a message to read. Andrew's eyes were fixed on the doctor's facial expressions, scrutinizing every detail. However, he was disappointed when the doctor pocketed his phone without any reaction after reading the message.

He responded to the officer with a calm demeanor, though his words had a sarcastic edge: "Officer, I understand your point of view, but rules are rules. If the police provoke or advise us to break the rules, how can the responsible citizens of New York forgive the police department for their unfair obligation?"

"Fuck! What should I do now to make this bastard agree with me?" Andrew cursed inwardly while rubbing his temple with his eyes closed.

"Are you cursing me in your mind?" Dr. Smith teased him.

"No, no, Dr. Smith, I wasn't cursing you. I was actually thinking about the consequences if the murderer escaped from here," Andrew replied with an awkward smile on his face.

All of a sudden, Dr. Smith shifted his gaze toward the elevator, which was positioned in front of the reception about three hundred twenty-eight feet away. Andrew and the female officer noticed this and redirected their focus in that direction.

They saw that the corridor seemed normal. Hospital staff were busy with their work, moving from one room to another. A few people were sitting on benches, waiting for their patients who had gone for check-ups with the doctors as needed. However, upon opening the elevator door, they were forced to open their eyes in shock.

They saw a woman in her late forties wearing a pair of white sneakers and deep blue denim jeans that hugged her legs passionately. Her white shirt clung to her body, seemingly eager to showcase her sexiness to the world. Her long black coat and flowing Sandy Blonde butterfly haircut elevated her elegance to another level. She was coming out of the elevator holding hands with the newly declared most wanted murderer, who was wearing an orange jumpsuit stained with blood, including her head, black fishtail braid, face, and body. Her feet were clad in flip-flop shoes of the same color. They were approaching the police officers together, exuding confidence and a glimmer of truth in their eyes.

"Oh my goodness, Mrs. Taylor looks so stunning! I can't take my eyes off her!" The female officer uttered in an astonished tone, causing Andrew to divert his eyes from them to his obsessed lady colleague.

"Nora, what the fuck are you babbling? Are you out of your mind?" He whispered to her through gritted teeth in anger.

She flinched upon hearing her sergeant's scolding and replied in a murmuring tone, simultaneously amazed, while fixing her eyes on the approaching duo. "Sorry, Sir, but she's helping us by surrendering her daughter. She's beyond our imagination. She never compromises with her duties, just like her husband, Ronaldo Whitley. They are my role models. So, tell me, how can I not be obsessed with them?"

"Puffhh!" A mocking chuckle escaped Dr. Smith's mouth in reply after hearing their conversation. Andrew gave Nora a death glare, and she blinked several times, sporting an awkward smile on her lips, before pulling out the handcuffs from her uniform's pocket.

"How can a monkey guess the taste and benefits of ginger? You are nothing but a puppet of DK sir. But I'm not like you, sir. I can't support injustice to get a promotion. I'll walk the path of truth, just like my role models do," Nora said to herself, feeling proud of her idols. Unknowingly, a happy smile appeared on her face as she saw the remaining distance between her and the mother-daughter pair.

The mother-daughter duo stopped after arriving in front of them and Evelyn said in a low serious voice, but in a sarcastic tone, "Call your chief and inform him that you failed to catch the murderer due to your incompetence. Let him know that some dogs are incapable of catching criminals because they can only do one thing: expertly licking their master's feet while wagging their tail to the rhythm of their master's whistle, just like you."

"Mrs. Taylor," Andrew yelled at her.

"Sshhh! Lower your voice, officer. Don't forget that this is a hospital, not your home where you can shout at anyone," Evelyn said, putting her pointer finger over her lips and looking into his eyes with an innocent face.

All of a sudden, her facial expression changed from innocent to devilish, just like the sky sometimes suddenly covers with dark clouds. Then she asked in a calm, curious manner, "Besides that, I wonder, what are you doing here when your son spent the whole night in lock-up on charges of delivering drugs to a school student?"

"What? What rubbish are you talking about? My son is a very meritorious kid, not a cold-blooded murderer like your daughter. Are you going insane after seeing your girl's miserable condition? I'm warning you, don't dare to utter bad words against my son, or I'll be forced to file a defamation case against you." Andrew warned her, fuming with anger and pointing his index finger in her face.

Evelyn laughed at his reaction. Then she shook her head and replied sarcastically, "I can't believe it. Your master not only used his money to keep the news of Ronaldo Whitley's accident a secret, but also to influence the news broadcasters in London, so you wouldn't find out about your son's arrest, at least not before my daughter went to prison."

Without wasting a second, Andrew took out his cell phone from his uniform pocket and dialed his son's number with trembling fingers. An unknown fear occupied a corner of his heart when he realized that his son's phone was unreachable. He instantly glanced at Evelyn with helpless, teary eyes, and she replied in an intense tone, "Karma has no menu. It serves what you deserve."

"Nora, please take Mrs. Olivia Snyder to 'Abyss Hill.' I have to reach my son as soon as possible," Andrew requested his fellow officers in an anxious tone. She nodded in reply.

Andrew left without uttering a word to Evelyn or Olivia. The other officers had already reached the reception and were watching the whole drama quietly.

Evelyn fixed her eyes on her daughter and, while giving her a small fake smile, said, "Oli, it's time to enter your new life. Although it's a dark life, always remember that the journey of searching for light in the darkness is the aim of everyone's life. So, be brave, keep fighting, and in the end, don't forget to come back to my arms."

Olivia immediately hugged her mother and replied with positive vibes in her voice, "Mama, you and Dad are the light of my life, so I'll definitely come back to you no matter what happens to me. Please take care. I love you."

"Mama, love you too," Evelyn murmured, closing her eyes while trying to hide her daughter in her tight embrace.

After a couple of minutes, they backed away from the hug, and Olivia extended her hands toward the female officer to be handcuffed.

Nora looked at her ideal role model while handcuffing the newly declared killer and blinked her eyes to assure her that she would stay beside her daughter.

Evelyn released a deep sigh of relief and mouthed "Thank you" to her while giving a final kiss on her daughter's left cheek.

"Please, come with us," Nora said in a gentle manner, and Olivia nodded.

Then they left the hospital, with Evelyn, Dr. Smith, and some others following silently.

Olivia waved her handcuffed hand to say goodbye to her mother. Evelyn blew her a kiss in reply. Smiling with red, puffy, teary eyes, Olivia got into the police van. Within a few seconds, the police vans vanished from sight after crossing the hospital gate.

Evelyn entered the hospital again without saying a word to Dr. Smith. She acted as if she didn't know him, and the doctor did the same. She walked through the reception corridor with a blank expression on her face, her eyes fixed on the elevator. Everyone looked at her, drawing their own conclusions. She waited in front of the elevator for a few minutes. When the elevator doors opened, she got in. Everyone noticed the sparkle of anger in her eyes before the elevator doors closed.

                                   ***

She reached the third floor and ran toward the cabin where the secret elevator was located. After a few moments, she arrived at the back parking lot of the hospital. She took the car key out of the back pocket of her jeans and got into her red Honda Civic after unlocking it with a beep. She took out her cell phone and dialed a number.

After the phone rang twice, a girl, who had been sitting on a chair in a dark room monitoring multiple computers in front of her, answered the call and asked in a concerned voice, "Hello, Mom, are you okay? I saw the news that sis Oli has been taken to Abyss Hill prison. What the hell is happening? You promised me you would come back with Daddy and sis Oli. Why did she surrender herself to the police again?"

"Luna, calm down, my baby. Your sister has gotten herself caught in a big trap. I'm not sure who is behind it, but I have an idea who it could be," Evelyn said in a panicked voice, placing her right palm on her head like a helpless person. Then she started to narrate the whole story to her.

After some time, Luna got up from the chair and went to the adjoining room. Upon entering, she scanned everyone working on their computers. She signaled a boy to come with her, and he obeyed by following her.

"Don't worry, Mom. I'm going to LHR airport to pick up Daddy, and I promise I'll manage everything here. You just concentrate on my sister. You have to save her at any cost. I think the Snyder Villa is wrapped in secrets; you should investigate there at least once," Luna said while walking through the office corridor.

"Hmm," Evelyn replied with a sigh.

"What about that bastard?" she asked, showing an irritated expression.

"Luna, mind your language!" Evelyn scolded her in a harsh tone.

Luna rolled her eyes and replied sadly, pouting, "Sorry, Mom. So what about Uncle DK?"

"You don't have to roll your eyes in irritation or pout like a five-year-old. I'm going to his house to teach him a lesson," Evelyn said, shaking her head in disbelief. A happy smile appeared on Luna's face.

"I love you, Mom, for understanding me without seeing me in front of your eyes," she said while entering the elevator with the boy.

"I love you too, my baby, for understanding me as well. I'm sorry I couldn't tell Oli about you," Evelyn whispered with a tinge of guilt in her voice.

"It's okay, Mom. I think the time has not yet come to reveal my existence to my elder sister. Let's focus on how to save her instead of revealing my identity. If sis Oli won't accept me, I'll still remain your daughter, won't I? So why are you worrying so much about me?" she asked her mother in a soft and comforting tone.

"My daughters are more mature than their years. I'm proud of both of you!" Evelyn said, her voice filled with emotion.

"You're going to a devil's house to teach him a lesson, so don't be emotional, Mom," Luna said to cheer her mother up.

"You're right," her mother replied. The elevator stopped, and they got out.

"Best of luck, Mom," Luna uttered in an anxious tone.

"You too, bye, take care," her mother replied with lots of confidence in her voice because she knew her kid's capabilities, and then she ended the call.

Luna and the boy reached the parking lot of their apartment building, which had seventeen floors.

They got into a black Honda Civic and closed the car doors. "Why didn't you tell your mother about her punishment?" the boy asked while starting the car engine.

"Because I don't want to distract her concentration from my sister. Besides, she will receive her punishment after returning to London. I'll ensure that she won't return here easily. She'll have to come back with my elder sister, as she won't be allowed to leave for the next three years. Ryan, I have to save my family," Luna said with a lot of emotion in her voice, including the pain of being separated from her elder sister.

She looked out of the car window to hide her tears. Ryan smiled after witnessing the unconditional love of her best friend toward her elder sister, who didn't even know about her existence. Then he drove the car toward the LHR airport.

At the same time, in the rear parking lot of C.N. Hospital, Evelyn took out an envelope from her red purse and placed it beside her. Then, in a spiteful tone, she said, "DK, get ready to face your karma. I'm coming."

After saying that, she started the car engine and headed toward DK's house.
