"mark isn't with you?" renjun asked donghyuck who was laying on mark's bed in a ball, like a kitten would be.

donghyuck lifted his head to look at renjun and shook his head. "he got out to buy some things an hour ago, but he still hasn't come back."

"oh..." renjun sat next to donghyuck on the bed, petting his head as if he was still a cat. "i was going to go to jaemin's... do you want me to stay until he comes back?"

"no, it's okay. i'm used to staying alone here, you know."

"yeah, i overheard mark didn't take very good care of you at first when i was in china." renjun raised a brow.

donghyuck giggled remembering the time he thought mark wanted to kill him because he had come back home late and he had hidden the cat food.

"it's okay, that was the past. it's all forgiven now. we love each other."

renjun scoffed. "well, i would smack his ass if he dares doing that again! and jaemin and jeno better not do that to me either." he said the last part silently, but donghyuck caught it anyway.

"jaemin and jeno?" he asked. "so... you three are finally a thing?"

renjun blushed. "huh... yeah. since yesterday."

"and you're talking with your cat instead of running to your boyfriends?!" donghyuck yelled, jumping on all fours on the bed, startling the chinese.

"w-well..."

"will you move your ass and go to jaemin's house very quickly before i scratch you and bite you so hard you will never want to leave his house!" donghyuck continued, the hairs on his body bristling.

renjun stood up immediately, not wanting donghyuck to hurt him in any way – well, he knew he would never do that actually.

"you're such a grumpy cat." renjun rolled his eyes. "i was being sympathetic."

"yeah and then jaemin and jeno's possessive asses are going to say i was stealing you from them." donghyuck tried to push donghyuck away.

renjun scoffed, trying to resist against donghyuck. "when i picked you up from that box, i only wanted a cat. not a humanoid who intended to throw me out of my own house."

"i know, mark repeats that on a daily basis." donghyuck rolled his eyes.

"kitten! i'm back!" mark's voice sang from the entrance.

"speaking of the devil..." renjun laughed.

"that's your cue to leave." donghyuck said with a head motion towards the door.

renjun left the room and the house, telling mark he would be at his boyfriends' house for the rest of the day and that his own boyfriend was waiting for him in the room.

mark then cleaned up the few groceries he had bought and walked to his bedroom when he was done.

"hey baby." he smiled at his boyfriend who was on his bed.

"hi!" donghyuck smiled back. "what's in the bag?" he asked motioning the plastic bag mark was holding.

"it's a small present for you." mark said.

"for me?!"

"yes. for you."

"what is it? can i have it?" donghyuck asked excitedly.

mark chuckled seeing donghyuck getting this excited. "okay, close your eyes."

donghyuck did as he was told. however, he opened one of them as soon as mark opened the bag to pick up whatever object was in the plastic bag.

"no cheating!" mark said, lightly slapping donghyuck's hand.

"yes, yes!"

when mark was sure donghyuck's eyes were closed, he pulled out a headband out of the bag and placed it delicately on donghyuck's head, just behind his ears, on top of his head.

"open your eyes."

donghyuck slowly opened his eyes and walked to the mirror, almost bursting into tears at what he was seeing.

here he was, back as his old self, with two white triangles sitting on top of his head. sure, those ones didn't allow him to hear better, and they didn't move depending on his mood, but they made donghyuck feel like a cat, and that's what he was, a cat.

"i saw them at the store, and i remember how you said you missed being a cat. i know it doesn't really make you a cat, but at least it can make you look like one..." mark explained as donghyuck caressed the soft material of the fake cat ears.

donghyuck didn't waste a second to throw himself in mark's arms.

"i love them. they do help." he said quickly. "thank you so much."

mark smiled. "you're welcome. they look cute on you. i missed seeing you with cat ears."

donghyuck blushed at mark's comment.

"i love you donghyuck. i hope you know that."

"i do. and i love you too."

mark smiled before tilting donghyuck's chin up and capturing his lips in a sweet and loving kiss.

"what kinky shit are you two up to?" jeno asked.

mark facepalmed. "let him wear those cat ears jeno. i bought them for him..."

"i don't want to know what you do during- "

"don't finish that sentence." mark glared at jeno.

the two of them were watching jaemin, renjun and donghyuck having a dance battle in the living room. they were in charge of the kitchen, so apparently, they couldn't join. not that they minded. they had fun just watching them having the time of their lives.

"maybe i'll discover renjun has a puppy kink or something like that... you never know." jeno continued talking.

mark mentally slapped himself after an inappropriate image of his best friend almost appeared in his mind. "jeno?! what the hell?! shut the fuck up!"

"i mean i already know jaemin likes to get strangl- "

mark slammed his hand over jeno's mouth with so much force that it made him fall from his chair.

"s-sorry jeno." mark apologised pulling jeno up. "but i had warned you not to say such things."

and just when they thought they would be able to start a normal conversation again; the cat ears fell from donghyuck's head.

and who picked them up? not donghyuck obviously. it was renjun.

the chinese wanted to try them on, which he did, but that didn't please donghyuck much, because the ex-hybrid jumped on him half-yelling, half-meowling, making renjun let go the headband.

and who got it after? none other than jaemin.

and that boy became the prey of two boys that looked more like two hungry cats at the moment.

"you were thinking about a puppy kink?" mark asked jeno.

"i thought you didn't want to talk about- "

"i know what i said." mark cut jeno who was focused on his elbow that had been injured during the fall. "but look at our boys."

jeno looked at his boys to find them busy fighting each other and donghyuck for a cat headband, all that while meowling loudly.

"i think you're thinking wrong. if our boys have a kink. it would surely be a cat kink." mark said.

and jeno could only nod in response.

well, what could they say?

they were at the front row of a unique cat fight.

this story finally came to an end, I've been working on it since so long... I'm pretty happy about the way it turned out actually

but yeah, as this one is finished, I published a new markhuck story called 'against the rules'. I have already a few chapters pre-written and I'm pretty excited to continue writing it, the first chapter is out already ;)
