mark and donghyuck stayed in the same position, with donghyuck's body on mark's, his hip bone on mark's groin, their lips touching and eyes wide staring at one another. none of them dared to move a muscle.

they didn't move they lips against the others to kiss back, nor did they back away. they just stayed there, lips against lips.

this contact may have been accidental, both boys were perfectly aware of the butterflies in their stomachs.

donghyuck had his cat ears that were flattening at the warm feeling that was taking over his body, and he could feel his tail failing to wiggle at the lack of space inside the tiny closet.

mark on his side was completely overwhelmed by his feelings. everything seemed to be ten times better than when it happened with hina. sure, he had only held her hand, but when his lips had touched donghyuck's, it was as if fireworks had erupted in the pit of his stomach. it was so strange yet strong that mark let himself melt into the feeling and kissed donghyuck for real.

he moved his lips against the hybrids, completely letting aside the fact that this boy wasn't even human, and that a pretty girl was perhaps willing to be his girlfriend. he just wanted to kiss him right now.

and he did well, because a second after, donghyuck had his eyes closed and was responding to the kiss, his lips following mark's. the human cupped donghyuck's cheek and caressed it, kissing the other with even more fervour.

they parted when they were out of breath, opening their eyes shyly to look at each other.

"s-sorry." the hybrid flushed red, lowering his head.

"don't apologize." mark said on a demanding tone. "i was the one to initiate the kiss."

"b-but hina? i'm sorry i kissed you. i know you hate me. you keep telling me how you don't want me and things like that..." donghyuck mumbled, his eyes slowly filling with tears.

"don't... talk about hina now." mark sighed. "i just kissed you."

"but you like her."

"donghyuck." mark wiped a tear on the cat-person's cheek. "didn't you like to kiss me?"

the hybrid nodded.

"tell me why you are putting yourself in such a state then. i just kissed you. you should be happy."mark raised a brow, patting the cat's head.

"do you promise you won't be mad at me?" donghyuck looked at mark with tears soaking his beautiful tanned cheeks.

"i won't, kitten." mark smiled, wiping the tears away.

"well... you took really good care of me. in my cat form, but in my human for as well. and... yeah... it kind of... happened? i don't know how or why either. but every time you would take care of me, it would make my heart flutter... but then, i don't know why, you would get mad, and say i am a useless cat and i should never be here... and this hurts mark... this hurts a lot coming from the mouth of someone you admire."

"i-i'm sorry donghyuck. i didn't- "

donghyuck cut mark by placing a finger on his lips.

"and then hina came once again." donghyuck spoke low. "the oh so perfect girl... the one you've been crushing on since god knows when... it was hard to hear you talking about her when i had these feelings. it was hard to see you with her. and, yeah... it got a bit out of hand when she came here the other day. when you held hands. i was just jealous that she could do this and not me." donghyuck lowered his head once again. "so, if you haven't understood yet, i do like you mark. i know we're not the same kind. i know hybrids and humans are not meant to be, but you can't do anything about feelings i guess?" donghyuck finished, his head hung low. 

mark stayed silent for an instant before pulling donghyuck in a big hug.

"i'm very sorry for everything i said and did to you..." mark said next do donghyuck's ear. "i didn't know you had these feelings. and i didn't know you were taking these things seriously... and... about hina, let's say it's a bit complicated as well..."

donghyuck raised a brow.

"i'm not really sure about my feelings." mark clarified. "you came into the picture and... yeah... you kind of messed up with everything?"

the hybrid nodded.

a knock startled the two boys. "are you alright in here? it's almost done!" jaemin said.

mark and donghyuck exchanged a worried glance. they couldn't open the closet and see donghyuck this way! he had to transform back into a cat!

"can't you bring some cat food for dong- haechan?!" mark said quickly. "his stomach is grumbling."

"coming right up."

mark looked at donghyuck worriedly, caressing his head to calm him down. fortunately, jaemin came with a pack of cat food rapidly and passed through the gap of the door: he didn't want to open it too wide so that the cat didn't escape. mark sighed in relief. he gave a biscuit to donghyuck who transformed back into his cat from and pulled the animal on his lap, caressing its back.

jaemin opened the door wide soon after, revealing a messy haired renjun and jeno by his side.

"did you lock us inside this closet so that you three could make out?" mark pointed at his best friend.

jeno passed an arm around renjun who was blushing. "maybe..."

one day had passed since the seven minutes in heaven game. renjun was at jeno's place with jaemin to 'hang out', but honestly, mark didn't want to know what the three were up to.

he was happy they were finally together, or at least almost. but he had learned they had kissed while him and donghyuck were locked inside the closet. 

donghyuck and mark were now alone, donghyuck in his human form as renjun was supposed to come back the next morning, and they were watching a movie in the living room.

"are you cold?" mark asked, seeing the hybrid shivering.

donghyuck nodded.

"grab the blanket in my cupboard, i'll go make a hot chocolate for both of us." mark said pressing a quick kiss on the boy's temple, not forgetting to pause the movie.

they hadn't talked about the kiss since it had happened. they hadn't kissed either. donghyuck had just been affectionate. he had just always come to mark when he was in his cat form, to the point the others were asking what had happened inside the closet for mark and the cat to become this close. if only they knew...

mark would sometime kiss the boy's forehead or head, but he never dared to approach his mouth. he wasn't too sure about his feelings yet, donghyuck was half cat after all...

while preparing the hot chocolates, the bell rang, startling him. he stopped what he was doing and got to the door, opening it to reveal a stressed jisung.

"jisung?"

"mark! i'm sorry to disturb you, i know it's late, but i have something important to tell you." jisung said quickly.

"yeah?"

"i was at the library until now because i wanted to search for some more things about hybrids. what you asked me really intrigued me and i really wanted to know more. and there's this woman who came to me. and she told me something pretty interesting, you should listen to it." jisung told with hand motions.

"hey, jisung calm down, calm down." mark said, putting a hand on the younger's shoulder. "who was this woman?"

"i don't know. she was kind of weird. she didn't work here, but she told me plenty of things about hybrids. she knew a lot about them. and she- "

jisung suddenly stopped talking, his eyes glued on something behind mark.

"she what jisung?"

"m-mark?" jisung stammered. "who is that?" he asked, pointing at donghyuck who had the same frightened look on, his cat ears, flattened and his tail between his legs.
