"You can do the rest of the exploring later. You should rest, yea?" Mum says with a smile and I nod, a little shaken up. Slowly making my way to bed, I slump on the soft mattress and let sleep consume me.

A few hours later

After I woke up, mum called me for dinner. I slept the whole day. And now, I am sitting in my room, playing video games. It was 9 o'clock and mum was in her room.

Sadly, I wasn't able to see her room. After an hour, I was tired. I stretched my body like a cat and relaxed. A sudden urge to eat something sweet washes over me.

Smiling cheekily, I hopped out of bed and moved towards the door. As soon as I open the door, my body shivers. The odd feeling was back again and I think back to going back to my bed.

But no, my ego was surely getting hurt thinking of the fact that I am scared of going downstairs like a small kid.

Sighing, I moved my leg out of the door and closed the door behind me, gently. My eyes widen as I looked at the dark hallway. My heart started racing, it was much darker and scarier than earlier since it was night now.

I never liked the darkness. It always scares the hell out of me. A few bad memories start flashing in my mind and tears welled up in my eyes. Taking a deep breath, I shook my head clearing those memories.

I started walking towards the kitchen downstairs. After what seemed like hours which was only a couple of minutes since I walked as slow as a turtle, I finally stood in front of the kitchen.

A grin formed on my face when I saw candy in the refrigerator. I shiver from the sudden cold air. A terror shook in my body when I heard footsteps behind me. The footsteps slowly came closer and I backed away, slamming the refrigerator's door. 

"Be careful, Ben" Mum's voice echoed and I sigh. God...I am so stupid. Of course, it's mum who else??

I turned around and looked at mum with a sheepish smile. She frowns which turns into a chuckle when she sees the candy in my hand.

"Hmm, I caught a thief I guess. Brush your teeth before going to bed, yea?" Mum says with a playful voice and I grin, nodding my head in return.

Taking my hand, Mum takes me to my room. I smile at her warmth. She closes the door behind me and I plop down on the bed once again.

After having the candy and brushing my teeth, I lay on the bed and closed my eyes.

"Thud thud thud" A sound echoes in my room and I open my eyes. Rubbing my eyes, I looked around and was greeted with darkness. Only the lamp was on, giving a little light to the room.

"Open the door, Ben" A rough voice says and my heart skipped a beat. I started trembling, fear taking over my body. Tears started running down my cheeks but my body didn't stop trembling.

Some strange sounds were heard from the outside. My throat became dry, and I tried to shout but couldn't. I need mum...mum..please...help.
