000: prologue
CASTLE BLACK ,
"The girl on the other side of the sea waits for you"
The words Maester Aemon had said to Viserra had never truly made sense, so she always chose to just ignore them. It had always seemed like he purposefully spoke in riddles to her. She didn't know why, it was a mystery to her.
But this time, she knew exactly what he meant. What she didn't know, was how he knew what he meant.
The girl looked up from writing the words on the paper, now glaring at the man through her eyebrows. "What" she barely whispered, hoping not to gain attention from the men below.
"You're nearly too late" Maester Aemon babbled as he paced past the ravens. "White hair, blue eyes. The girl from your dream meets the stallion soon"
Viserra lifted her head so that she was now staring straight at him "how do you know about that"
The old man turned to the girl, his eyes looking up at the ceiling "know about what?" He asked.
"The girl." She paused "from my dream" Maester Aemon looked confused at the girls words "you said 'the girl across the sea. White hair, blue eyes.' How did you know about that"
Maester Aemon nodded "yes."
Viserra furrowed her eyebrows "yes, what?"
"It's almost to late" he turned back to the ravens "you must go"
She didn't go. Not for another week.
Her last night at castle black she had woken up, cold, yet sweating.
"Shut up" her sisters voice was muffled by her pillow.
Viserra glared over at the girl across the room "I didn't even say anything" the girl groaned running her hand across her face.
Jacaera pulled her head out of her pillow, leaning on her arms "you've been groaning for the past hour, it's messing with my sleep"
Viserra stood up "I—" she cut herself off with a groan "why do you have to complain about everything, Jace."
Jacaera sat up completely "I don't complain about everything, Viserra. I complain when you wake me up with your loud groaning"
Viserra let out another groan as she grabbed her coat off of her chair, throwing it over her shoulders before stomping out of the room.
It was cold outside, that was something the girl had gotten used to throughout her short life. Standing there—in the snow—she had finally been able to think. For the first time in many moons, her mind was clear.
"Baelor!"
Viserra groaned, pressing her hand to her head, hoping to ignore the voice like she had been doing for months.
Then came the screaming.
She ignored that too.
She didn't understand why she heard things that others didn't. Why she was awaken with dreams so real that she actually thought she had lost her head.
She wanted it to stop—needed it to stop. The people around her had began to think she was crazy. Maybe she was, maybe she had finally lost her mind after all these years hiding away at the wall.
"Daenerys"
Viserra looked up. She didn't recognize that voice.
"The girl across the narrow sea" The voice had said. Viserra knew it was one of the voices in her head, but she didn't ignore this one.
"Do you trust me?" a different voice.
Viserra gripped the railing.
"Always" her hand tightened.
She knew that voice.
The memory seemed to be clawing it's way out of a hole she had never buried it in.
"If I don't make it to the end of this war" the girls voice faded for a minute "I will find you again." Viserra felt the ghost of a hand find its way to her face "I swear it, by all the gods."
"Find her."
