Harry opens his eyes.

Remnants of his dream cling to him desperately, begging him to remember, remember, remember, but he can't.

They swirl in his head, just barely giving him glimpses of soft kisses and sweet smiles and every time Harry tries to grab one, to remember, it darts away.

He's irritated, but that irritation fades when he sees the note at the foot of his bed.

"I wonder
If I ever cross your mind

Or when it's nearly dawn-

The pictures.
The chat threads.
The arguments.
The promise.

Or all that encompasses me,

Harry doesn't realize tears are sliding down his cheeks until he sees a splash on the paper, and he quickly wipes his eyes.

Is this his girlfriend? Why won't she just tell him who she is? If they were in love, sending him letters must hurt so much more than just telling him.

Upset and confused, Harry shoves the note under the pillow with the other one and gets ready.

Draco's not wearing his necklace.

Harry nudges him and gestures toward his chest. "Did you break up with your girlfriend?"

Draco looks at him with wide eyes. "What?"

"Your necklace. The one with the H. You're not wearing it today, did you guys break up?"

"Um." Draco reaches, almost unconsciously, for the chain that used to be around his neck. "Uh, yeah. We broke up. I did something stupid and fucked up and now we're not together anymore."

"I'm sorry. I hope you guys get back together," Harry says sweetly, unsure of how to handle this boy. He acts so strangely, it intrigues Harry.

Draco blinks several times, glittering tears welling in his eyes as they meet Harrys'. 

"So do I."
