Part 6
Judy sat there facing the police,James and the detective Walsh. She had a rag in her hand sniffling while wiping her face, especially her eyes.
"Did you know Cassie had a journal" Walsh asked.
Judy took a deep breath then responded "No"
"Really? She got it for her eighteenth birthday" Walsh said.
"I didn't know that, you see *sniffles* the thing about Cassie is that, she is just um...to herself sometimes." Judy continued.
"Expound please." Walsh demanded.
"Though we were best friends, she would sometimes keep things from me and as far as the journal? I get it......Maybe it was something in there that she didn't want me to know" Judy responded.
"It's kind of a shocker though cause I've been in her room plenty of times and I never saw that journal, not that I was looking for it anyways, cause I'm a person of space" she ended.
"The night of her 18th birthday, she danced with a boy that was introduced by her parents, her father rather...." Walsh commented.
"You're talking about Andre?? From church ?" She asked.
"Yes, are you aware of his whereabouts?" Walsh asked.
"Listen I haven't heard from him since she dumped him and left him, he left the church after that" she said.
"Why did they break up?" Walsh asked.
"He was...a bit controlling, she said he was using his religious beliefs to coerce her and it didn't end well."She responded.
"Were they any signs of physical abuse? In that relationship?" Walsh asked.
"No, Andre won't hurt a fly"Judy said.
"How are you so sure?" James asked.
"Cause I've been around him long enough" She answered.
"But not enough to know she had a journal?" Walsh responded.
"No, don't use that against me, me not knowing she had a journal does not make me guilty" Judy said.
"Who said you were hun?" Walsh asked.
Suddenly there was loud silence.
"Do you have any information on Andre?" Walsh asked.
"Ye..s." Judy said.
"Good you can start by giving me his address." Walsh demanded.
"22 Barrington avenue..." Judy said.
"Wait isn't that your address?" Walsh asked.
"Yeah, he's currently staying with me right now until he get his things started out" Judy answered.
"Hmmm" Walsh said to herself.
"I doubt that he would kill her, he seemed over her but I guess we can't put it pass anyone."
"Yeahh, even her best friend" Walsh said. "You're dismissed."
Judy walked out briskly with her eyes filled with tears as she struggled to pull out her car keys.
She made it to her car and sat there, staring at her wallpaper that was picture of her and Cassie at the night of her 18th birthday.
"I'm so- so- sorry they did this too you Cassie, I miss you so much, I didn't wanna believe you were gone, why did you do this to me?" she said while wiping her tears and gasping for air.
"My guess is Kevin that did this but if Andre did this? Trust me I'm going to get you justice. I don't care who it is."
*****
"Here lies the body of Cassandra Hines, an innocent girl, taken away from us so soon due to what? Jealousy maybe, hatred maybe....either way when the suspects are identified, they will pay for this, you can hide from us but you can't hide from God"
Everyone eyes were red from the crying. Some people were sniffling.
They took the congregation to an opening field where they give their last words to Cassie. Most were along the lines of:
" I miss you"
" This is not true"
"I will always love you, you will always remain in our hearts."
Nobody got to finish their statement because they were crying. Andre and Judy were in attendance and they were also crying their eyes out, especially Judy.
She walked over to hug Rick and told him "I'm here if you need anything, you know you're like a brother to me, right?"
Rick said "I appreciate it but you'll never be able to fill my sister's shoes" then he walked away while wiping his tears.
Detective Walsh and James showed up to give their condolences to the family. Even she was teared up about it.
The ashes were placed in a jar and given to her parents.
