Chapter 19

Song: Video Games by Lana Del Rey

--------------------------

I pedal towards Tyler's house. I had curled my hair and dressed in my nice shirt and jeans. I even put a bit of make-up on. It was nine in the morning and I had woken up two hours earlier to get ready.

The weird thing was, I was nervous. Really nervous. I kept reminding myself that it was just Tyler and that I only had a small crush on him but that only seemed to make it worse.

The fall weather was slowly being consumed by the cold bitter sting of winter and the light breezes were turning into rough winter winds. My hair blew furiously behind me and my feet, which were clothed in sandals, stung against the harsh winds.

My cheeks were burning and my heart was racing.

I pedaled into the Williams' driveway and quickly drop my bike in their lawn, out of the way of any cars. I walk up their porch steps, my feet coming to a stop in front of their door as I quickly try fixing my hair and pulling my shirt down. I take one last deep breath and quickly knock on the door, already smiling.

I hear a few voices behind the door before the door cracks open and I see Tyler standing there with his usual frown.

"Good morning!"

"Why are you here so early?" He asks before his eyes look at my hair and then to my face before looking down at my outfit. I was practically being checked out.

I grin to myself.

I stand there under his gaze, my heart feeling like it could burst as I wait for him to say something. I watch as he opens his mouth, his eyes meeting mine once again. My stomach erupts into butterflies and my cheeks heat up with a blush.

"What did you do to your hair? You look like a poodle." He says, a smile breaking out across his face. I feel my heart drop a little bit.

"A poodle?" I ask, pulling at my hair a bit.

"Relax, it's cute. Now wait just one second, I need to change my shirt." Tyler shuts the door and I lean towards the reflection of the window, quickly starting to brush my hand through my hair, trying to loosen the curls a bit.

I huff in annoyance when my fingers get caught in a tangle once again. I should have just braided it. Suddenly the door swings open and I quickly pull my hands out of my hair, a light blush spreading across my face. Tyler steps out, a neatly pressed shirt on. He walks past me and starts to walk down the stairs, heading towards his jeep.

"You ready?" He asks, following me to my side of the jeep and opening the door for me. I try to hold in my smile but can't as I hop in and put my seat belt on. I watch as Tyler walks back around to his side and opens the door, sliding in.

He turns to me, scanning my face before starting the car. "What are you wearing on your face?" He asks, his ears turning red.

"Oh," I blush. "I put on a bit of make-up."

"You look good." He says, not looking me in the eyes.

"Thanks," I murmur, looking down at my feet and feeling my stomach start to flutter.
