The Order Of The Phoenix

"It'll be alright, Lily. Dumbledore will approve," I told my best friend as she sat at the front of the room beside James. Lily nodded.

"He'd better," James said, a slight edge in his voice.

"Better what?" The old man swept into the room, his beard flowing elegantly out behind him.

Wow, I thought, never thought I'd be calling a beard elegant.

"Professor Dumbledore, we have something to discuss with you," Lily said.

"I assumed."

"Lily, let me start," I said. She nodded. I stood up.

"A few months ago, Sirius and I overheard a conversation you were having with Professor McGonagall and another Professor," I started. Dumbledore stared back at me, his brilliant blue eyes unwavering.

"We heard you talking about the increasing Death Eater attacks-"

"I had presumed this was where we were going with this, so I brought Professor McGonagall along with me." A small cat ran inside before turning into McGonagall. I jumped slightly.

"Anyway, Sirius and I relayed this information to our friends. Upon hearing this, we decided to help," I finished.

Lily stood, taking my place.

"We've created a group of just us, and we have decided to call ourselves The Order of The Phoenix. At the moment, it consists of only us, and no others know about it, nor are they a part of it," Lily said.

McGonagall smiled.

"I think it's very brave of you all to try and help us-"

"But you cannot," Dumbledore interjected.

"What?" Nearly every single one of us exclaimed.

"You are mere children, and I cannot have you fight in a war you cannot understand," he said. Jackie stood up.

"My name is Matthew, sir. I have already faced Death Eaters once in my life,"

"As have I," Frank added.

"I lived with them," Sirius raised his hand lazily.

"And don't forget Serana has fought them on multiple occasions," Lily said. I raised my head at my name.

"Do I not need to remind you that Matthew, you were tramautized by the experiance, Frank you had to be removed from the premises by your mother, Sirius you were disowned, and Serana was sent to the hospital both times. You cannot win this fight," Dumbledore said. At his final statement I stood angrily.

"Do I need to remind you that Matthew was 14, or that Frank was fighting seven Death Eaters with two muggles stored in a closet, or that Sirius only got disowned because he was loyal to you, to being brave. And doI need to remind you about my bad luck charm seared into my soul?

"Professor, no matter what you say, I'm not going to sit in a small shack, in a circle, while grown adults, who have never even faced a Death Eater, fight a 'war' that I can full well win. I doubt any of us would. And besides, my 'mark' will end up pulling me into this war one way or another.

"Professor Dumbledore, if you were us, what would you do?"

Dumbledore stared down at me once again, but this time I was too energized to be afraid. McGonagall was standing behind him, smiling.

Professor Dumbledore sighed. He looked down.

"I would do just as you," he looked to Lily, Jackie and I, who were standing," I would not let anyone tell me no."

"Does that mean you'll let us join?" Remus asked, who had been silent and holding Jinxy's hand the entire time.

"I will think about it. In the mean time, you should not have any more meetings. Don't get your hopes up." With that, he left, McGonagall following right after him.

"Great job, Rani," Marlene said, "Because of you, he might actually let us join."

I shook my head.

"Guys, you've got to remember, it's never just one of us anymore, we're together, we are one."

"More clothes?" I asked.

"Most of your extraneous stuff, really, more books, board games, things you left around the house," Frank said. I slung the bag over my shoulder, shaking my head.

"I don't even know what I did wrong, but thanks, Frankie. I'll see you next week," I said.

"Next week?"

"Our next Order meeting," I replied.

'But Dumbledore-"

"Since when did I ever listen to Dumbledore?" I asked. Frank smiled.

"Well, year one through three you were the perfect student," he said. I shrugged.

"What can I say, my New Years Resolution really worked."

"Where are you going, Rani?" Jinxy asked.

"There's something I need to fix," I replied.

"Oh, that clears everything up." She jogged after me as I ran up to the large house.

"This is-"

"The Tonks house, yes," I finished.

"This is where-"

"Nymphadora died, yes." I raised my hand to the door and knocked.

"I'll get it!" The familiar voice of Andromeda Black called. She opened the door with a smile on her face, until she saw me and it faded. I was about to huge her, when I saw the size of her stomach.

"Andromeda, you're-" She rushed at me and threw her arms around my neck.

"Serana, we thought we'd never see you again," she said. I laughed, hugging her back.

"It's only been a year," I said.

"Is it-"

"Her death day, yeah, I've been counting. I also thought of you today, and I couldn't help but think of the pain I put you through, ignoring you, blaming you for her death, when I should have been blaming myself," I said, lowering my head as I pulled away.

"No, no, Rain, don't say that. Here, come in, come in. And your friend too." Andromeda pulled us both in. It was then when I saw the two rings on her finger. Aww! They were married.

"Ted! Ted! TED!" 'Dromeda screamed.

"Yes, Sweatheart?" Ted's mouth fell open as soon as he saw me. He sprinted down the stairs and almost tackled me in a hug.

"Rain?" He exclaimed. I nodded, laughing.

"Here, sit, please." He pointed towards the couch. Jinxy and I took our seat.

"You guys remember Jinxy?" I asked. They nodded. I smiled at them. My eyes fell down to Andromeda's swollen belly.

"I see you've been...busy," I said. 'Dromeda grinned.

"I guess." The two turned a light shade of pink.

"You're married for goodness sakes! You don't need to be embarrassed!" I laughed, "So, how's baby Serana?"

"Actually, it's baby Nymphadora." My smile fell, my heart stung, and my eyes filled with tears. But a new smile arose on my face.

"That's a wonderful name," I said. They nodded.

"That's why we chose it."

"She would have been so happy," Jinxy said. I looked upwards, hoping I could somehow see Nymphadora up in the sky.

"Aye, she would have been."

Back at Rani's house, a few days later, we had Lily, Marlene, and Alice over. As we were talking, an owl flew through the window, carrying five letters, each bearing our names.

Upon opening mine, a large smile spread across my face.

Dear Serana Longbottom,

Welcome to the Order of the Phoenix.

Sincerely,

Albus Dumbledore.
