New Years Resolution
With a smile, I plopped myself next to Sev at the Slytherin table. I had been awfully cheerful.
"What are you doing here, Blood-Triator?" Someone drawled. I sent a glare in the direction. Of course, Rabastan LeStrange. His friends snickered. My glare intensified 100-fold. It only made them laugh harder. A low growl came from my throat. Sev grabbed my arm.
"Don't," he warned. I nodded.
"You seem really happy, Rani," Sev smirked. I nodded.
"I made a New Year's Resolution! I'm not going to let anybody effect me to the point where I enclose myself. So that means, Sev, I'm not going to get depressed when you die," I teased. He pouted, then grinned evilly.
"Who says I'm going to die first?" He replied.
"Someone's cocky. I bet you you'll die first," I tilted my head.
"If you die first, I'll give your child 10 galleons each month until they're out of Hogwarts," he said. I laughed.
"If you die first, I'll sing 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead,' at your funeral," I flipped my hair dramatically. He chuckled.
"Deal?" He held his hand out.
"Deal," I agreed and shook his hand.
"What are you two betting at? Which one of you idiots will get a boyfriend first?" Luscious snickered. Sev blushed furiously. It made me angry. I stood and pointed my wand at Luscious. The entire Great Hall quiet (which wasn't very hard, being that there were only a few people still there). Luscious cowered slightly.
"Say something Luscious?" I growled. People started mumbling. He shook his head.
"Didn't think so," I rolled my eyes. Bellitrix LeStrange laughed loudly. I turned to her.
"Something funny...Bella, is it?" I snapped. She nodded.
"Care to thrill me?" I crossed my arms.
"Like You were ever going to do anything," she snorted. I pointed my sand at her. Rabastan, Rudulphus, and a few others pointed their wands at me.
"Wanna bet, Bella?" I cocked my head. She nodded again.
"Levicorpus!" I shouted. Bellitrix floated into the air. Everyone was shocked.
" Ms. Longbottom! Detention!" Professor MaGonagall yelled. I nodded, though it was something never thought I'd hear those words. I set Bellatrix down. As I walked out, Sev whispered with a smirk "I guess your New Year's Resolution causes you to do other things than just not being effected by boys."
"You bet it does Sev," I winked. This really was a whole new me. I will always be a reader, a writer, and dreamer, but now, now I can defend myself and my friends.
"What happened back there Serana?" Professor MaGonagll asked, shaking her head. I shrugged.
"I've never been able to stand my friends being bullied around. But I usually mask it with books. I've changed. I want to be able to stand up for myself and my friends. I guess I was just really mad," I bit my lip slightly.
"Since this is the first time this has ever happened, I'm letting you off with a warning. Don't mess it up, Ms. Longbottom," Professor MaGonagll said sternly. I nodded and walked out. Sev met me at the bottom of the stairs.
"What happened?" He asked as we walked away.
"She let me off with a warning," I smiled, blushing slightly.
"A new Rani. We'll see how this turns out," he teased. I laughed. I went to the Commen Room for a nap.
"Lily! Jinxy!" I screamed. I couldn't find them.
"Lily! Jinxy!" I screeched again.
"Serana!" A voice called out, full of pain. I followed the sounds.
"Jinxy!" I ran to my friend, who was wounded on the ground.
"What happened?" I asked, cradling her in my arms.
"You got lost, so we came looking for you. There was an ambush. They attacked. Lily had time to apperate away. Told her I was right behind her. Guess I was wrong," she smiled in pain.
"We're getting you to Saint Mungos," I picked her up and apperated to the hospital.
"Help!" I screamed. Doctors and Nurses came running in. I noticed I splinched my ankle a little. I whimpered.
"Lay her down here," a doctor ordered. I obeyed.
"Stay with us, Jinxy. You'll be ok. You'll be ok," I whispered to her. She slipped into unconsciousness.
I was standing outside a house, in a place called Godrics Hollow. I walked down the street. A man in black robes walked into a house. I decided to follow him.
"Avada Kedabra!" He hissed. I didn't see who he killed until I reached the top of the stairs. I gasped and almost fell down them. James Potter lay there, cold and emotionless, his glasses were bent in a strange way across his face. The man in black tried to open the door at the end of the hall, but somebody was holding it.
"I can't hold it much longer Lily! Go!" A familiar voice screamed.
"Jinxy! I won't leave you," Lily cried.
"Your son. Harry, he needs you," Jinxy pleaded.
"Bombarda Maxima!" The man yelled. The door blew backwards. The person behind it screamed as she was thrown against the wall. A billion books toppled onto her. I ran in. Lily, my best friend, was protectivly standing over a crib. Jinxy moved under the books. She groaned and lifted her head up.
"Avada Kedabra!" The man said, and a flash of green shot at Jinxy. She looked at the man with no fear in her eyes, before crumbling, her arms lay on the books, like she as sleeping in them. I cried out.
"Stop it! Stop it!" I screeched. He didn't turn to me. He didn't see me.
"The boy," the man's voice sounded like any other person.
"No Tom. You won't take my son," Lily snapped.
"Avada Kedabra!"
"Love you Harry!" Lily screamed before falling over.
"No!" I yelled. Tom pointed his wand at Harry. The baby was crying. He looked down at his mother and whimpered.
"Avada Kedabra!" Tom shouted again. I tried to move in front of the green flash, but was unable to. The spell bounced of the baby with a wave of energy, knocking me and Tom off our feet.
"Serana. Serana. Serana!" Someone shouted from outside my DREAM. My eyes fluttered open.
"Happy New Years," Lily and Jinxy smiled down at me. I hugged them tightly and started to cry.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Lils asked.
"I had a terrible nightmare. I was walking into the house and some other guy killed you two. And James! He tried to kill your son, Lily, but you must have put some spell on him to prevent it. I couldn't do anything to stop it!" I was shaking horribly.
"It's ok! See we're alive!" Jinxy shouted. Lils looked at me with a disgusted face.
"I had a son with-" she gulped," Potter?"
"Yeah," I laughed. So did Jinxy.
"Sev told me about your New Years Resolution," Lils was desperately trying to get off the topic.
"He also told us what you did to Bellatrix," Jinxy smirked. I nodded.
"it was surprisingly...fun," I shrugged and sat up.
"What time is it?" I asked, rubbing my head.
"Almost dinner," Jinxy sighed
"Thanks for the necklace guys," I smiled at them. They nodded.
"Who'd you get this one from?" Lils picked up the necklace from Sirius. I blushed.
"He didn't. Did he?" Lils gasped.
"Who?" Jinxy asked. Lils and I have known each other since kindergarten, so we can practically read each other.
"Yeah, he did. It brought me out of my-"
"Problem?" Lils suggested.
"Who are we talking about?" Jinxy yelled.
"And then, he was just all like 'woah'!" Someone laughed. Not just any someone, but Sirius. I gulped and hid behind Lils and Jinxy.
"Evans, go out with me?" James asked cockily.
"No! Evil little toerag," Lils hissed. I giggled.
"Who's behind you guys?" Sirius asked.
"No one!" Jinxy said too quickly.
"El, you wanna come with me to Dinner?" Remus smiled at her. She melted.
"Yeah," she walked over to him. I desperately tried to grab her arm and pull her back, but with no avail. So I hid behind Lily. Lily stepped to the side. Leaving me standing in the open, looking terribly dumb. So I improved.
"Razzy! James! Peter! What are you guys doing here?" I smiled dumbly.
"This is the Commen Room," James replied.
"Really? That's where we are? Lils, you said we were going to the Library," have I ever told you how terrible I am at acting? The boys laughed at me, making my face red.
"Shut up," Lily glared at them. She took my arm and practically dragged me away.
"You are a horrid actor," Lily sighed smiling slightly.
"I know," I smiled proudly. We went to the Great Hall and sat down. I sat next to Jinxy (who obviously was next to Remus) and Lily Sat on the other side of me. Three girls sat across from us. Alice, Molly, and someone else.
"Oh! Hi! I'm Marlene Mikinnon. Who are you?" The girl smiled brightly at me.
"Serana Longbottom," I smiled sheepishly.
"Lily talks about you a lot! We've been friends for a while. I'm moving in to your guys' dorm!" She squealed happily. I smiled at her and continue eating my omelette. The doors burst open. All heads turn towards the four boys walking in. I blushed as I caught Sirius's eye. He smiled at...Marlene?
"Hey Marlene," he winked at her.
"Hey Sirius," she blushed. A strange feeling jabbed me in the chest. I scowled at my omelette.
"What did that omelette do to you to earn so much of your attention?" Lils laughed. I looked up. Sirius was sitting next to Marlene and they were flirting. I felt like I was going to hurl. Why? I didn't know.
"I'm not hungry," I push away my plate, stand up, and walk out.
"She loves omelettes. She'd never leave without finishing one," Lily whispered. I walked around the campus for a while.
"Finally," a breathless Lily gasped. I turned around.
"What happened back there? One moment you were happy and dandy, the next moment you are storming out," Lily Sat me down on a bench.
"I don't know," I sighed. Lily smiled at me.
"Why do I sense you know something I don't?" I groaned.
"You are jealous," she said in a matter-if-fact tone. I snorted.
"Of what?" I shook my head.
"When you were in your strange nonverbal stage problem thing, Marlene and Sirius got together. Of course, you wouldn't know. Now, you are jealous because you're going to have to watch your friend and soulmate flirt all day long, until he breaks her heart. Then you'll have to comfort her, in turn, getting angry with Sirius. You will be mad at him for a while, but Sirius will be on to another girl, and the jealousy will return until he finally asks you out and you don't through a nonverbal tantrum," Lily smirked at me. I shook my head and laughed at her. Lily and I have known each other since kindergarten. Even though I'm pureblood, mum and dad wanted me to go to muggle school, which so happened to be the same as Lily's. In kindergarten we were frenimes. Then in first grade we became fre's, then second grade friends. Third grade we were besties. Fourth grade we were inseparable and then we went to Hogwarts, where we became sisters. We've practically grown up with each other, so we know each other more than ourselves.
"Now let me predict you future. James will continue to ask you out, and you will refuse, but start to form a crush on him- wait wait wait, lemme finish-He will kiss you out of the blew, which, of course, will make me punch him. But you on the other hand will become confused. You will both be prefects next year. Something will happen between you and a close friend, due to James. And your feelings work continue to be confused until in 7th year when you both are Head boy and Head Girl, and you two start dating," I smiled innocently at her, rocking back and forth.
"I hate you," she glared at me.
"I love you too Lils!" I hugged her and ran away. I herd giggling and of course, snogging. Old me would blush and move on, New and improved me would open the broom cupboard. I grabbed the handle silently.
"No!" Lils hissed. I sushed her and started turning to door knob. My eyes widened as I saw who it was.
"Sorry, Marlene, Sirius. I was just...I thought I left my coat in here...I mean broom...cause it's a broom cupboard, not a coat closet. I'll just be...um..." I shut the door. I could feel something stabbing me in the chest again. Lily said it was jealousy, but why would I be jealous? It's not like I had...a major crush on Sirius. I pushed past Lily.
"Rani," Lils whined. I just walked off. I ran into someone.
"Sorry," She groaned.
"No, it was me. I wasn't watching where I was going," I smiled lightly at her. She held her hand out and I took it.
"I'm Nymphadora Tonks," She said,"But don't call me Nymohadora. Call me Tonks."
"Nice meeting you...Tonks. I'm Serana Longbottom," I winked when I said Tonks.
"You're friends th Remus, right?"She asked, a smile creeping up her face.
"Yeah. Why?" I replied, though I already knew the answer.
"I sort of have a tinnsie crush on him. Don't tell him, please. I know he's with your other friend, Ellie, was it?" She blushed. Her hair turned pink.
"Whoa!" I gasped. She shook her head, and her hair went back to its normal brown.
"I'm a metamorphosis," she scratched the back of her head nervously.
"Wicked. And between you and me, I have a crush on Sirius," I whispered. She almost fell over.
"It's getting dark. I should go back to the Hufflepuff Commen Room. Bye, Rain!" She called out as she ran away.
"By Tonks," I waved, though she was out of earshot. Once her shoes were no longer auditable, the stabbing pain came back. Gasping, I walked back to the Commen Room.
"There you are Rani! Where've you been?" Lily hugged me.
"I met a Hufflepuff girl, Tonks," I smiled.
"I met Tonks once. She's strange," Marlene scoffed. I glared at her.
"No! She isn't strange!" I shouted.
"What's got your wand in a knot?" Sirius groaned walking downstairs.
"Nothing," I snapped. I went upstairs and sat on my bed. I put my head in my hands, feeling the urge to break something.
"Breath, Serana. Breath," I told myself.
"Mental that one," Marlene laughed from downstairs.
"She isn't mental. She's going through a hard time in life right now. Hello James," Lily soon appeared in the door way, to see me smirking her.
"What you smirking at?" She laughed.
"Hello James," I batted my eyelashes and did a terrible mockery of her. She these a pillow at me.
"I don't sound like that," she blushed.
"Suuuuuure. You can't deny it forever Lily. You're in love," I laid down and fell asleep.
