Running a hand through her hair, sitting at Emily's table she listened to Jacob complain about Bella. The girl had apparently ran off with a vampire to Italy to save her blood-drinking boyfriend. It had been two days since she's been gone, and apparently all the Cullen's have returned. ll except Bella and her boyfriend.
Aleida was starting got get a headache.
"That's enough!" she shouts. "We know you're upset but this is getting ridiculous."
Pushing herself up from the chair, and shoves Jacob out the door. Turning back to the others, she looked directly to Sam.
"Is there anything that you would like to say to the Cullen's that you haven't yet said?" Aleida asked with annoyance clear in her voice.
"Use your best judgement," he tells her. "You know the treat and the rules."
Nodding, she continues to shove Jacob forward and down the steps.
"How are we getting there?"
Sitting in the woods next to a wolf Jacob on the side of the road was not how she planned to spend her afternoon. Aleida was aware that she was sulking, but she couldn't hep it. Jacob was sulking as well.
She would have been enjoying herself in it were under different circumstances. The sun as setting beautifully, and the wind was nothing more than a soft breeze. The fact that they were waiting for Bella and Edward was ruining the mood.
"They don't seem to be coming Jake, can we leave now?" Aleida was dying to get back. She had things she needed to do, people she needed to speak with.
Jacob stood abruptly and walked into the trees to shift. Aleida stood up and leaned against the tree. She had apparently spoken too soon because it was only a few minutes later that Bella and a pale-boy made his way into the small clearing.
"You're back," Jake states as he walked into view. Aleida had to hold back a groan at his choice in words.
"I told you I would be," Bella told him truthfully. Aleida watched as Jacob's jaw clenched, he didn't like the closeness of the couple.
Aleida took that as her cue to step forward, taking her position slightly in front of Jacob. She was aware of the way Bella stiffened at the sight of her, the way she let out a groan knowing she's in trouble.
Edward moved to put Bella behind him slightly making Jacob shake and shudder behind her.
"Enough Jacob," she scolds. "I see the leech-lover wasn't exaggerating about your... abilities."
Edward nods slightly, relaxing his posture only slightly.
"Then I'm sure you're aware of why we are here."
"Yes," Edward agreed is a soft voice. "But, before you begin, I would like to say something."
Aleida waited for him to continue. Jacob stood behind her, clenching and unclenching his hands as he tried to control the shivers rolling down his arms. He gave a quick look to Aleida but her face contained no emotion.
"Thank you," Edward said, his voice thick with sincerity. "I will never be able to tell you how thankful I am. I will owe you for the rest of my.. existence."
Jacob and Bella looked at each other in confusion, his shaking coming t a halt. Aleida stood with her anger rising.
"For keeping Bella alive," the vampire clarified. "When I... didn't."
"Edward," Bella began, but he held up one hand.
"That is enough." Aleida finally speaks. "Jacob did not do it for your benefit."
Aleida gives Jacob a stern looks before she moved forward and grasped Bella's hand in a deadly grip.
"We discussed this before Isabella, and I have given you my warning. You have made yet another stupid decision in your life and the elders and myself are stuck cleaning your mess." Aleida stared the girl down. "I warn you now, you will not step foot into my immediate vicinity or even your bloodsuckers will feel my wrath."
Aleida released a stammering Bella as she tried to come up with some type of word to fix her mistakes. Aleida was not from here but she was just as important as the elders to the pack, her word could very well be law.
"Bloodsucker, we are her to remind you of a few things." Aleida addressed Edward.
Jacob took that as his cue to pull Aleida back to his side where he could protect her.
"If there is anything in my power that I could do for you both..." Edward trails off.
Jacob raised an eyebrow.
Edward hook his head. "That's not in my power."
"Whose, then?" Jacob growled.
Aleida wiggled her toes and placed them into the soil before grabbing onto Jacob's shaking arm. She could only comfort the boy so much.
Edward looked down at Bella. "Hers. I'm a quick learner, Jacob Black, and I don't make the same mistake twice. i'm here until she orders me away."
"Never," Bella whispered.
Jacob made a gagging sound.
Aleida schooled her face into a neutral expression. "I would like to remind of some key points in the treaty."
"The treaty is the only reason I don't rip his throat out." Jacob's voice was cold, sending chills down Bella's spine.
"We haven't forgotten," Edward said at the same time Bella demanded, "What key points?"
"The treaty is quite specific. If any of them bite a human, the truce is over. Bite, not kill," Aleida emphasized.
A look of realization crossed Bella's face. "That's none of your business."
"Like hell it-" Was all Jacob managed to choke out.
Edward moved quicker than necessary as she pulled Bella back and shielded her. Bella stared on in horror at how close her friend was to shifting and how close Aleida was standing to him.
Aleida leaned in close to Jacob, if he shifted, he would surely kill her. "Control it. You are stronger than a few angry words and emotions," she whispered. "You are a great spirit warrior, this fight will not be the one to destroy you."
"Jake are you okay?" Bella asked, trying to step forward.
"Be careful, he's not safe." Aleida felt Jacob's shaking form freeze at the vampires words.
"I would never hurt her," he grunts.
"Hmm, I ave a few more words I would like to say." Aleida speaks up, her face open and friendly. "I would like you to remind your family that I am not part of the treaty. I am only a honorary member, meaning that if I get word that Bella even receives a scratch under your care, I will decimate your entire family. I swear on my... existence."
Aleida knew her voice held a mocking tone. hr words were precise, giving the others the feeling that she was superior.
"Stay out of my woods," she warns Edward. "We're leaving Jacob, say goodbye."
Jacob sent an apologetic nod to Bella and moved away. "Sorry," his voice so low that Bella had to read his lips. "Bye, Bells."
"You promised," Bella reminded him desperately. "Still friends, right?
"You know how hard I tried to keep that promise, but... I can't see how to keep trying. Not now.." Jacob shoo his head sadly, his hard mask wavering. "Miss you," he mouthed. He reached one hand out towards her before turning swiftly towards the trees.
Aleida moved forward towards Bella slowly and slapped the girl firmly. Immediately flicking her wrist out towards Edward, a rock wall forming in front of every direction he tried to reach her from.
Bella stood shoked, holding her cheek as a tingling sensation was forming in the shape of a hand print.
"A warned you before of what will happen," Aleida spoke breathlessly. "Another awful choice and it will be worse."
Bella watched as bruises began to form on the girls arm, the color in her skin draining.
"Take care, Isabella."
Aleida spun around to see a wolf staring at her worriedly. Waving him off, she stumbled slightly to his side and gripped his fur, the wall behind her falling to show a livid Edward.
"Emily is gonna be so mad," Aleida whines.
