Part 53: Whose Fault

Song: "Who" by Lauv, Jungkook and Jimin

Jimin came home to an empty house. Or so he thought.

He didn't notice Namjoon was sprawled in his study while various notes were lying at his feet and his eyes focused on the book in utter concentration. He was grunting every now and then whenever he was dissatisfied.

"Hyung?", Jimin peeked through the door and Namjoon would have cooed at the cute action if it wasn't for his concentration.

"Oh, are you back?", Namjoon said without even picking his head up from the book.

"What are you doing Hyung?", Jimin asked curiously and he welcomed himself inside. Luckily, he found himself a place to sit which wasn't covered with notes or chits. He just observed what Namjoon was reading and found himself frowning after realising what it was.

'Samguk Yusa'. A book about history of Busan.

"Tch... Hyung! Why don't you give up? There's no use!!", Jimin whined. Now Namjoon's head was snapped up from the book.

"Give up? Have you ever tried to put yourself in our shoes Jimin? This might seem simple to you. Because you're gonna just go back to being stone. But what about us? We will stay here until the very end... How do you know about our emotions?", Namjoon said with deep voice which had started trembling. Jimin couldn't help but stood up and hugged him suddenly to shut him up.

"I know... I know Hyung... But you have to understand.", Jimin looked up at Namjoon's eyes. He was really close to breaking down.  "I'm tired hyung. Really very tired. So if I'm going, let me go hyung. I don't these days to go waste on hopeless things. I want to go... And I want you to support me. Please..."

Namjoon pulled him in a tight hug. Jimin buried his head in Namjoon's chest and heard Namjoon let out a sob. He never had heard Namjoon cry like this. But he won't blame him... He was the reason why Namjoon, his hyungs were crying.

But still it was not enough for him to make him stay.

A ring, however, disturbed their little moment and they both pulled away from each other. Namjoon looked at it made a bitter face before quietly hanging up.

Jimin looked at the contact profile that was blinking up on the screen. When Namjoon cut the line, Jimin let out a chuckle. Namjoon looked at him in confusion.

"What happened?"

"It's amusing to think how he must be taking it that you cut his call. Back then I didn't even have the audacity to cut his word in between.", Jimin laughed a little.

"He was always like this, wasn't he? Always so in oppose what their son wants. Always being a villain...", Namjoon said.

"He wasn't exactly a villain, I think.", Jimin said and Namjoon gave him a glance of confusion.

"He wasn't ever a villain... He always was a father how he should be according to the society. He just never grew out of his limits. He always stayed in those limits.", Jimin said. Namjoon was speechless. Maybe he never thought of this like this.

Maybe, Jimin was right...

"Back then I just retorted once to prove my love and he gifted me with curse which has lasted until now. And now you, you stay with your lover, which he doesn't accept but yet doesn't do anything besides cussing you out occassionally and pursue you. He still is that father whom society has created.", Jimin's wise words were being carved on Namjoon's heart.

He was right....

His father was always that father who will stay in the limits society has created. But he can't give up on his love even if he understands his father.

Some things can never be changed.

And its no one's fault...

"Students, you have to gather here at circle after 2 hours. Stay with your assigned team and explore all you want. And don't forget about the five page report.", Teacher yelled at the students who didn't wait for her permission and started spreading around the ancient Museum.

Everyone had their partners with them. Jimin wanted to stick around with Yeosang but, he was apparently busy with his own team. More like busy in fighting. Everyone knew how Yeosang and Jackson never got along. So few students were just watching as they fought over tiny things and others just spread to explore. He just assumed he will have to roam around for two hours alone then.

He checked the time in his watch which was gifted to him by Jihyun after she taught him to read time. He was pretty clever even though his was merely 14 years old right now. But no one needs to know that. Otherwise they will start questioning on what he was doing in the class of students who were 20-21 on average.

Who will explain them that he never grew a day after he was cursed? And if they count all the years he's been around then they should know that he's the oldest one here.

Who's there afterall who has lived for 700 years?

So he just proceeded alone, quietly observing the stone posts that were on show behind the glass wall. He still didn't have the grasp on language so it was a bit difficult for him to read the information tab. So he just stared.

"It's from Joseon dynasty. People used to pray to these for their better life or better crops."

Jimin turned to look at Jungkook and Taehyung standing there with a smile on face. He let out a sigh.

"What are you two doing here?", He asked a little irritated.

"Remember, teach told to stay with the team. So here we are. We are helping you out.", Jungkook answered.

"No need."

"Yes, there's a need. We know you don't really have any idea about all this. We will help you learn all the things. Trust us. We will help you.", Taehyung said beaming showing his beautiful boxy smile.

"That's what I despise...", Jimin muttered and started walking away and the two followed him.

And just like this, both of them followed Jimin throughout the museum, providing him with information and guidance, even though he never asked for it. At one point Jimin stopped resisting them and let them eat his ears.

He couldn't tell them that their information was actually helping him out a lot and he was becoming more curious about the aesthetic things that were preserved.

"And this..."

"Oh!! We had many of these in our palace!!", Jimin exclaimed before Taehyung even started to explain him. He pointed at the ancient metal plates that held something written on them.

"Really?", Taehyung asked curiously looking at Jimin's lit up face.

"Yeah!!", Jimin answered enthusiastically. "Whenever the next generation's heir was born, sages would bless the new born with well wishes through poems. And those poems would be crafted in gold plates and kept safe until the heir ascends the throne."

Jimin had forgotten that he was with Jungkook and Taehyung with whom he can't ever get along. He was just lost in the moment and let out his honest curiousity and enthusiasm over the trip. Both Jungkook and Taehyung just stared at him with awestruck eyes.

Jimin had his hands kept on glass wall, face pressed on it, making his face squished adorably. A beautiful smile on his lips making his eyes squeeze into soft crescent lines. A boyish glint on his face, something they have never seen. And before they could stopped themselves, Jungkook breathed out.

"You should smile more often. It really suits you...."

Jimin looked at him surprised. More like shock. He stared at Jungkook with disbelief.

"What?", He asked back. Taehyung and Jungkook looked at each other. As Jimin's breathing became a little heavy. Seeing that Taehyung quickly came closer to him.

But Jimin didn't wait for him. He just ran away from there, leaving the other two confused and concerned.
