You and I. (Sue x Carrie)
Requested by no one, yet PillowWillow2266 gave me inspiration to for this unintentionally. Based off the 2013 version but you can imagine whatever.
Carrie mumbled quietly to herself, her eyes scanning across the books' pages. She was in the very corner of the library, hardly anyone came over here. Probably because of her.
Carrie almost jumped in midair when she felt someone sit beside her. She hesitantly looked up, and to her surprise, she saw Sue Snell. She shouldn't be so surprised, though. Sue's been talking to her for a while now.
"Hey, Carrie." Sue smiled.
Carrie's heart seemingly melted. Sue had such a pretty smile. In fact, she was always pretty. "H-hi."
"How're you?" She pulled the shorter girl closer to her by putting her arm around her waist.
"I'm alright." Carrie blushed. "You?"
"I'm good!" She rested her chin on Carrie's head. "Well anyways. I was thinking.." She paused.
"Hmmm?" Carrie leaned into her touch.
"I wanted to show you this pretty place I found."
She tensed up but nodded anyways. Yes, she sort of trusted Sue. But she still had awful trust issues, and honestly, who could blame her?
"You alright, Carrie?" Sue looked down at her.
"Yeah," she nodded. "I just — no one's ever asked me something like that before..!" She awkwardly fiddled with her fingers.
"Oh. No, we don't have to stay for long — or you don't have to go at all." Sue mindlessly ran her fingers through her hair. "I just want to spend time with you. Y'know?"
"Me? You wanna spend time with me?"
Sue quietly laughed. "Yes you! You're my friend, Carrie. And I love you."
"I.." A smile made its way onto Carrie's face, and she threw her arms around Sue. "I love you too!"
Sue giggled then hugged Carrie back, her lips brushed across her pale cheek. "Gosh, Carrie. I don't see how anyone could hate you.. you're the sweetest, most genuine person here."
Carrie faintly shook her head. "No, you are."
"No." Sue moved Carrie's tangled, long blonde hair out of her face. "You are."
Carrie gave a small smile. "You are, no take backs."
Sue opened her mouth to say something but quickly shut it. "That's no fair!"
"But it's fair for me!" A quiet giggle slipped out of Carrie's mouth.
Sue playfully rolled her eyes, biting her lip in a miserable attempt to stop the huge grin on her face. "Fine. You win — but, I'll get you back."
Carrie shook her head. "I doubt it." She suddenly realized their position and crawled out of the taller girl's lap. "Sorry." She blushed.
"You're alright." Sue hummed, blush dusted her face as well.
"A-anyways." Carrie moved her hair to where it covered her face again. "Yeah, I'll go with you."
"Really?" Sue grinned. "You won't regret it."
Carrie only smiled, unsure of how to respond to the blonde. But it was rare for the shorter girl to smile — it showed she was genuinely excited, happy, to go with Sue.
"Where are we going?" Carrie impatiently asked. Sue had her hands over Carrie's eyes.
Sue only giggled and continued guiding Carrie, doing her best to make sure she wouldn't trip on any condition.
"This is suspenseful." The shorter girl muttered, grabbing Sue's wrists afraid she'd fall face first even with her carefully guiding her.
"I got you." Sue sweetly hummed.
"O-okay." Carrie sighed and relaxed, letting Sue guide her to wherever.
"Okay." Sue finally removed her hands from Carrie's eyes.
A small gasp escaped Carrie's mouth. "Is this even real?"
Sue laughed and nodded. "Mhmmm!"
Ahead of them was a tall, cherry blossom tree. It looked as if it were something in a painting. It's pretty pink flowers swayed slowly in the wind. It was utterly breath taking.
Awe was evident in Carrie's expression. "I - how'd you find this?"
"I used to come here when I was little." She smiled then lead Carrie to the tree. "Isn't it pretty?" She sat down against the tree trunk.
"Yes," Carrie nodded and sat down beside her, gazing up at the beautiful sight around them. "It's beautiful." She leaned into Sue's side.
"I'm so lucky," she looked down at Carrie. "To have met you, Carrie."
She looked up at Sue, a smile ghosted her lips. "And I'm lucky to have met you.." a petal fell down and landed on Carrie's nose. She scrunched up her nose then shook her head.
Sue laughed, "You're so cute!" She tapped her nose.
"Thank you but I'm really not," Carrie murmured. "You're beautiful — I mean your hair it's so pretty, a-and you are just really pretty in general. Oh, and you're so nice. No ones ever been so nice. I'm convinced you're the nicest person.. ever." She rambled. She didn't even seemed to notice she was rambling. But Sue enjoyed this — it gave her a fluttery feeling, and she genuinely just loved listening to Carrie's sweet voice.
"I'm the nice one?" Sue tilted her head. "You just listed a bunch of compliments about me — I think you're the nice one."
Carrie blushed, her blue eyes widening. "O-Oh I'm sorry-"
"Don't be." Sue intertwined hers and Carrie's hands. She sighed, then once again brushed Carrie's hair out of her face. "I love you. You're beautiful. No matter what those other girls say."
Carrie felt tears brim in her eyes. She buried her face into Sue's chest. She was embarrassed. She teared up so easily. "I-I love you too." Her voice came muffled.
There was a silence between the two. It wasn't awkward though. It was.. comforting. Carrie had her head against Sue's chest, simply listening to her heartbeat while Sue gently played with Carrie's hair.
"Mmm, Carrie?" Sue's soft voice broke the silence, and she looked up at her.
"Hm?"
"So.. you know how I wanted to show you this?"
Carrie nodded her head, her eyebrows furrowed together.
"I also wanted to ask you something." Sue suddenly had a nervous look on her face.
Carrie nodded, hinting her to go on. She was worried - why did Sue look so nervous? Was what she was going to say really that bad?
"Well —." Sue sighed, she looked like she was fighting a battle between herself. "Would you.. like to be my girlfriend?"
"I—" Carrie didn't know what to say. She didn't know why Sue just asked her that. Did Sue really like her? And did she like her back? The shorter girl stayed silent, thinking of all the possibilities of how this could go wrong.
"You don't have to." Sue shyly said. "It's alright if you say no. I won't be mad at you."
And after much, much thinking, Carrie finally gave a small nod and a quiet hum.
Sue almost squealed and she held Carrie even closer. Carrie grinned as well, her arms now around Sue's neck. "Carrie," Sue met her gaze, her pretty, blue gaze. "I love you." She's said it many times before, yet it never seemed to get old.
"I love you too, Susie." Carrie bumped her nose against Sue's cheek, her small way of showing affection.
And then they stayed like that. For about three hours, they simply sat there and talked, enjoying the others company. Carrie fidgeted a lot, Sue noticed. So almost the whole time she let Carrie play with her hand.
It was sweet, they really did love each other already.
