Moments. (Sue x Carrie)

Why haven't I been updating as frequently, you may ask? Well, school is one thing, but I've also been finding it a bit hard to write fluffy stuff when it comes to Carrie ever since I reread the novel last month. What the girls did to Carrie was awful, and I'm just finding it hard to romanticise it lol. But I finally thought of something, so here :D

Sue knew what she saw, she wasn't stupid nor blind - or anything like that. There was something - something that threw itself around with an invisible force that killed all the students.

Everyone was dead, and she had no idea what to do now.

She can't just walk home and carry on with her life. That would be almost be impossible.

Her own boyfriend was dead.

All of her friends were dead.

Well, she wasn't sure if she really had friends, honestly. Like, were they all fake?

Nevertheless, she cared for them either way, for she knew them her whole life.

And Prom.

This was all her fault, if only she never asked Tommy to take Carrie, they could've had a normal night, like she always dreamt of ever since Tommy and her had started dating.

But all those innocent fantasies were washed away and replaced with an overwhelming feeling of dread. She would never see any of her friends again, and how would she explain this to her parents?

Oh, there was a huge fire that happened at school and she just so happened to have survived.

How would she explain Carrie?

No one would believe her theories. In fact, she wasn't sure if she believed them herself, but it was probably the most likely answer.

Her feet dragged on the ground, kicking a single rock with her hair covering her tear stained face. She could hear sirens in the distance.

She also swore she could still hear their screams.

But she continued to slowly return home, the path of destruction still noticeable in the distance, glowing a bright, teasing red.

Her gaze then narrowed on something.

Droplets of blood splattered all over the old, dark concrete.

Her pace picked up. Did someone actually survive? If so, who?

Tommy? Chris? Carrie?

Anyone. Please, anyone.

She paused once the trail lead up to that house.

The house she would never dare enter, the house she would always avoid, the house she would always vandalize despite her guilt, the house of Carrie White.

Of course. The blood was that awful prank.

Sue knew she shouldn't beat herself up. She didn't pull the prank or anything like that.

She tried to help.

But she still could have stopped the events from playing out.

And with that thought, she turned the doorknob.

"Carrie..?" Sue whispered, her gaze landed on the girl curled up into a ball on the floor.

"W-What are you doing here?" She backed up.

One thing Sue noticed was the huge splotch of blood leaking out from her arm, and the other was her mom, "I.." she paused. Why did she come here? "I came to help you."

Carrie whimpered, "you cant just — you can't just change that quickly." She stammered with a shake of her head, "especially after what just happened."

The house seemed to rock around. A while ago, she would've made fun of this, 'oh, Carrie's house really is haunted! Hey Chris - you were right!'

But now was different, now she was worried. She had to get out of here, along with Carrie.

"You have to trust me."

Carrie narrowed her gaze. What was vulnerable, was now replaced with anger, "you can't just think you'll trick me again."

"Why would I-"

"You would've done something so long ago if you really did care." Carrie's voice came out strong, yet there were obvious tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry," Sue desperately said.

The walls creaked around them, and rocks pelted into the house, raining almost everywhere except the two.

Carrie looked at Sue for a long moment. Her eyes were glazed over, and finally, she whispered, "go."

"No." Sue stiffly said, rushing forward to hold out her hand. "I came here to help you. I'm NOT leaving without you, Carrie." She quickly yipped.

"You're much too late." The smaller girl spoke, lowering her head.

Sue felt tears pool in her eyes as the house continued to crumble slowly, as if giving them one last chance to escape, "come on! Before it really is too late - for the both of us." She grabbed onto her wrist.

Carrie's breath hitched, and finally, she stood up with the help of Sue.

Sue practically had to drag the shorter girl out, for there were two long (but luckily, not that deep) gashes on her arm and leg.

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." Her quiet voice came, shaky and broken.

"For what?"

"I killed your own boyfriend.. I killed everyone. Even my own momma.. she was the only one who cared for me, and now, I finally see why — Sue, I'm so sorry."

More tears streamed down the taller girl's face, "it's okay, it's okay," she repeated, not even looking down at Carrie, "I'm g-going to take you to my home, okay? I'll take care of you there."

"No I can't," Carrie whimpered, "why are you being so nice - don't you understand what I just did!?"

"I do, and that's why I'm helping."

Hisses and whines drew out of her mouth. Her head was pounding, along with her heart, "it hurts." She muttered, moving away from Sue's touch.

"I know, I know. I'm just making sure it won't get infected." Sue moved towards her again, wrapping the gauze around her arm.

"I don't like this," Carrie shook her head, pulling back yet again. Her hair was tangled, her eyes were wide and it was obvious she had been crying.

But Sue wasn't any better.

Her normally pretty eyes were now red, her hair was much neater than Carrie's, but that doesn't mean it wasn't messy, "Carrie. The quicker you actually listen, the quicker I can get us home." She grumbled, her once sweet eyes now filled with impatience.

Carrie tensed up beside her, but gave a nod.

The two sat completely still in pure silence. The tension was thick and it only seemed to make the problem at hand even worse.

"-there." Sue sighed, running her fingers through her hair, "can you buckle?"

"Yes." Carrie slowly fastened herself in, her eyes fluttering shut almost right away.

Sue tilted her head, getting in the drivers seat.

She couldn't believe herself, honestly. Carrie had just killed multiple people, yet she just saved her life.

Well, her gaze directed to the mirror, the reflection showing Carrie looking oh, so out of it, maybe it's just because I feel guilty for hurting Carrie for so long. She just killed your own boyfriend, yet you still care, her gaze flickered back in front of her, but Carrie needs this. I owe it to her.

"I'm sorry." Carrie suddenly says. Her voice was quiet as always, but her voice was much more.. broken now, as if someone had taken everything she's ever loved.

Well, technically.. nevermind. We won't get into that.

"It's okay," Sue started up her car, "I yelled at you."

"No." Carrie lightly shook her head, "not that. The — the other thing."

"Hmm?"

"Never mind." Carrie lowered her gaze to her feet.

Sue looked at the shorter girl across from her.

She was asleep — her breathing pattern was slowed down, she looked so peaceful- she's never seen Carrie so calm.

But again, Sue would never blame her. They were awful, and Sue would do anything to make that up to the poor girl.

Sue wanted to protect Carrie— from here on out. She didn't deserve to go through anything else related to chaos.

And she would make sure of that.

But for now, they were here.

She couldn't reverse time and suddenly start being kind towards Carrie. No, she had to deal with her actions.

Sue let out a quiet sigh, tears streaming down her face all over again.

Everything had to turn around from here on out- there couldn't be any event worse than this.

And that thought finally gave her some sort of ease. She draped her arm across Carrie's waist, and closed her eyes shut.

It will get better, it just has to start with them two.
