Forever and Always. (Chris x Carrie)

Requested by no one. Based off the 1976 version. I've had half of this on draft since I first started this book and I just now finished it - so it might not be the best lol.

Trigger Warning: Carrie's Mom is a trigger warning. :P

Today seemed like a completely normal day for Carrie White.. almost.

Getting bullied for doing the slightest thing wrong, being shoved into lockers, and the constant whispering and gazes that surrounded and pierced her skin.

But, there was one thing off.

Chris Hargensen. Probably Carrie's main bully, was no where to be seen.

This was pretty confusing to Carrie, but she tried her best to ignore it.. which she was currently failing miserably at.

She couldn't help but worry. Yes, Chris was very mean to her but she still cared about her for some reason.

She didn't know why her thoughts constantly drifted to Chris. Like, what if Chris didn't bully her? What if they were friends? What if they had sleepovers? —Carrie's never been to a sleepover, yet she always wanted to go to one.

The bell rang causing Carrie to jump, earning snickers from students surrounding her. She shut her eyes tightly then shook her head, she gathered her stuff then headed towards her locker.

She put her stuff away then moved her hair to where it was covering her face even more.

Luckily, school was over and Carrie could not be anymore relived. She quickly squirmed through the crowd of students, and right as she walked past the girls locker room, a hand grabbed her wrist then yanked her in.

Carrie squeaked, and a hand covered her mouth. This scared her even more, and she started to helplessly squirm, trying to get out of whoever's grip.

"Oh, calm down. Geez."

Carrie automatically recognized the voice — Chris. She struggled even more until Chris rolled her eyes and shoved Carrie away from her.

Carrie whimpered as a response, then looked up at Chris, her blue eyes wide. "W-Where were you?" She whispers.

Chris tilted her head. She rarely heard Carrie talk, she only heard her whimper and squeak. "Somewhere." She shrugs. "Why?"

"I—I was worried about —." The words slipped out of Carrie's mouth. She instantly regretted saying it and her face flushed red out of embarrassment. "You." She squeaked out the last part.

Chris smirked, then placed her hand on her hip. "Oh, really now?"

Carrie lowered her head, beyond embarrassed. Chris would for sure make fun of her —

Chris, in a swift movement, lifted Carrie's chin, earning a squeak from her. "Hm?"

Carrie meets Chris's gaze, an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach. Sin. She was sinning. Oh gosh, oh gosh. "I—.. b-back up.."

Chris shook her head, her smirk growing. "Oh, Carrie." She got awfully closer to the flustered girl, and Carrie backed up as far as she could against the locker.

"C—Chris, s-stop."

Chris lightly rolled her eyes. "Do you really want me to?"

Carrie bit her lip. Did she? She was so confused, she liked how close Chris was to her yet she felt like she was sinning. So, Carrie lowered her gaze then shrugged.

Chris smirked. "That's what I thought." She pulled away from Carrie, and she automatically missed being so close to Chris..

Carrie shook her head, then hugged herself, she started walking away but Chris grabbed her wrist again. "We're no where near done."

Carrie seemed so small in this moment, yes she always was but.. she was almost unable to form words and she was beyond flustered. So she just shook her head again then tried to pull away from Chris.

"Calm down you damn freak!" Chris snaps.

Carrie closed her eyes. Momma is going to be so mad that she's late. "P-please.. let me go." She quietly says, it was almost inaudible.

"What's so important?" Chris huffs, looking at Carrie, upset.

"Just let me go!" Carrie exclaims, tears now pooling in her eyes. Momma didn't want her home late again, if she was well.. she couldn't help but think the worst. What if Momma left her there to die of thirst or starvation?

Chris was taken back by her outburst — no one had ever talked to her like that besides Billy and rarely Sue. "Just tell me and I'll let you go. I'll judge if it's so important."

Carrie honestly didn't know what to say. Chris would only make fun of her even more if she told the truth. So she said, "I'm gonna die!" Half of her knew she was exaggerating, the other half thought that was actually true.

Chris only raised an eyebrow at her. "What do you even mean?"

"My momma she —" she was so close to pouring it out. But she stopped. Most people already knew her mom was crazy, therefore, they assumed she was as well. And if she said this, Chris and her friends would only make fun of her more.  "Please.." she desperately said. She just wanted the slightest of sympathy.

Chris sighed, and surprisingly let go. And right as she did so, Carrie ran off.

Why did I let her go? Chris bit her lip, then walked out of the locker room. Could it be, because of her personal experiences with her mom?

But if that was true, then that meant she felt bad for Carrie White. The thought seemed crazy to her. But not unreal.

And this time, it was Chris's turn to worry.

Carrie wasn't at school the next day. And all she could think of was what Carrie was about to say yesterday. She couldn't believe she had a change of heart that quickly.

Well no. She didn't care for Carrie. She only wanted her safe, yeah.

But this happened every once in a while. Carrie would disappear for a day or two, and come back the next day. And everyone was okay with that. It was just a day without Carrie pestering them.

But now — Chris might actually know why Carrie's always went missing. And suddenly, her opinion had changed.

Chris didn't know what she would gain by going to the White's house. Was she asking to be attacked?

She was intruding their property — but she had a reason to. She marched up to the lawn, a creepy feeling made its way into her chest. No one ever dared to go to her house.

But who would want to? Not only was Carrie a freak, but her wacko mom as well.

Chris was so caught up in her thoughts she didn't seem to realize she was right at the door for a moment. She slowly raised her hand then knocked on the door.

She couldn't believe she was doing this. And for what? To see if Carrie's okay? And she most likely is, Chris was probably overreacting.

She grumbled to herself then knocked again. No one was answering.

She turned around and noticed there wasn't even a car here. Were they even home?

Chris grabbed the doorknob to find that it wasn't even locked. I guess they wouldn't have to lock it - for no one ever came here anyways, She thought.

She shut the door behind her and already felt weirded out. The house was practically blank besides occasional furniture and crosses that decorated the walls.

The only noise she heard was quiet whispering. She was even more freaked out if possible. This was more terrifying than those horror movies her and Norma would watch at laugh at. Because this was real - not fake, she was experiencing this herself.

She made her way to the sound, which lead to a small closet that had a lock on the outside. She couldn't help but find that odd. "Hello?" Her voice wavered slightly.

The whispering stopped, replaced with frantic movement.

What the fuck?

Chris clicked on the lock then swung the door open. She didn't know what she was expecting but it certainly was not Carrie.

She was in the very corner of the closet, staring at Chris with wide blue eyes.

"Your mom, she did this?" She asked. It was as if she knew the answer all along.

Carrie only nodded. Embarrassed and scared at the same time. She looked so fragile — shaking and looking up at Chris fearfully.

"Come on."

"W-What?"

"You expect me just to come here for no reason at all? No, come on." Chris held out her hand.

Carrie only backed further against the wall, shaking her head. She was scared. And she had a good reason to be.

"Look, Carrie," Chris suddenly realized how awfully cramped this closet was, and how terrifying it was as well. "You need to get out." She sharply said.

"Go." Carrie murmured. "Go away. Please. She - you-"

"Come on you idiot!" She huffed. "I'm saving you - can't you see!?"

Carrie whimpered and shook her head again.

Chris sighed then looked behind her. "Where is your mom anyways?"

"A-at work."

"When will she be back?"

"Not for a w-while."

"Then here," Chris slowly edged towards Carrie, leaving a good amount of distance between them. "How about you show me around your house? And when she gets here we can leave?"

"I-I don't want her to be alone," Carrie muttered, looking at Chris with a sad look. "I don't wanna-"

Carrie actually seemed so sweet. Besides all her weird factors, of course. "How could I convince you to come?"

"I don't know.." Carrie whispered.

Chris sighed. "Here. I have a lot of things in mind." She slowly reached out to place her hand on Carrie's. "And I know it's hard to trust me. — I wouldn't trust myself either. But, I promise. You won't ever be hurt again — not by me or your mom."

Carrie sniffled but nodded. She wiped her tears with her long sleeve.

But all good moments come to an end. The sound of the front door opening seemingly echoed through the house.

Carrie almost burst into tears in that moment. Not only would Carrie get punished for this, but Chris as well.

Chris quickly jumped up and closed the door behind them. They could only hope her mom didn't notice the door was unlocked.

"Shhh." Chris hushed, slowly backing up to the corner of the closet.

Carrie looked up at her. You could tell she was terrified and she was trying her best to keep it together and not burst into tears on the spot.

Chris glanced back down at her as well, interlocking their hands in a small way of comfort.

A faint sound of rustling was all they could hear. Carrie held her breath almost the whole time.

But luckily she exited the house soon after that.

Carrie wanted to cry all over again. She was glad her mom didn't look in the closet but also upset. She wouldn't have let her out.. she found herself staring blankly at the floor.

"Carrie?"

The shorter girl looked up at her, her eyes glossy. "Hm?"

"Are you okay?"

"I-I'm alright."

Chris nodded then opened the door, looking out the window just to make sure her mom was gone. "Let's go now."

Carrie looked utterly shaken up — terrified. But she nodded anyways, and slowly stood up and walked to Chris. "W-where are we even g-going?"

"My house." She scribbled something down on a piece of paper. "My dad should be fine with it."

"W-why yours?" Carrie murmured, then regretted it soon after. "S-sorry they sounded rude-"

"It's alright. I understand that you're scared - I would be to." Chris finished whatever she was writing then walked towards Carrie. "But I promise, from here on out, you'll be safe."

Carrie didn't believe that but she nodded anyways. She found it hard to trust anyone. Especially Chris. "O-okay. Thank you."

"Now, do you have anything you want to bring with you?"

Carrie thought for a moment then nodded. "Mhmmm." She walked up to her room then came back down.

"Did you even grab anything?" Chris looked her over, confused.

"Yeah." She shyly nodded then gestured towards a cross necklace looped around her neck.

Chris recognized it. She remembered when Norma and her stole it and hid it somewhere. Carrie had freaked out and cried for the rest of the day, trying to look for it. "What is it? — Like, why's it mean so much to you?"

"Oh." Carrie suddenly felt embarrassed. "It was my dad's." She placed her hand over it.

"Oh." Chris blinked a few times. That's why Carrie was so upset. She assumed her dad was dead. For she's never seen him around here and the way Carrie spoke. It seemed as if she was finally getting to know Carrie White — the thought was crazy to her. "I'm sorry."

"Mm?"

"For taking it. And hiding it. I didn't know it — it meant so much."

"It's okay." Carrie quietly said. "Just.. don't do it again." There was a fair amount of distance between the two.

"I won't," Chris hummed. "I promise."

Gratefully, Carrie walked up to Chris and murmured a small, 'thank you.' She still couldn't believe she was leaving. Just like that. And with Chris, of all people. Did she really expect for this to be better there than here?

Chris seemed to sense her worry, and gave Carrie's hand a small squeeze. "It'll be alright."

Carrie nodded, letting Chris lead her away. Carrie couldn't help but look back behind her shoulder at at her house every now and then.

Carrie hid behind a tall, thick tree in Chris's backyard, peeking out everyone and then. She swore Chris was in the backyard, where did she-

Carrie's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Chris as she jumped on her, a goofy smirk on her face. "I found you." She triumphantly said.

"No! I bet you cheated!" Carrie giggled, squirming under the taller girls grasp.

"Oh whatever." Chris continued holding her down. "I still won."

Carrie shook her head then crossed her arms, glaring up at Chris.

Chris laughed, bending down and kissing each of Carrie's freckles that dotted her face, knowing that would fluster the shorter girl.

"Chrisieeeee." Bright pink blush dusted Carrie's face. She wrapped her arms around her neck. Chris finally got off of her, wrapping her arm around her waist.

"You know, Carrie." She hummed. "You're actually really nice.."

"Really?" Carrie yipped. "I—.. you too." She let out a small smile and leaned up against Chris. "You're the only friend I've ever had."

Chris looked down at her sympathetically. "I bet the other girls would love to be your friend if they got to know you. I mean — I regret not talking to you at first. You're the nicest person ever."

"Awwwh." Carrie blushed, her smile only growing. "Thank you.."

"And if they don't — you have me!" She gave a toothy grin.

Carrie giggled before nodding her head. "I do."

"And I have you," Chris nodded. "Forever and always."

"...Forever and always." Carrie repeated, mindlessly playing with Chris's hand.
