Epilogue. (Sue x Carrie)

Oh look a oneshot based off the musical since most of you are probably here for that lol. Requested by no one I just thought of this haha.

Sue slowly walked towards the door, her heart seemingly pounding faster with each step she took. She hesitantly opened the door to find Carrie in a heap at the floor. She automatically rushed towards her, pulling the broken girl closer to her.

"M—momma!" Carrie cried, tensing up when Sue touched her. "I want her back! I w- she- gone!"

Sue looked at her mom who had a knife stuck in her chest and she visibly cringed then looked down at Carrie. "It's okay," She soothed. "It's okay now. I'm here. I'll protect you. No one will hurt you anymore."

Carrie didn't say anything. In fact she couldn't. Her whole body shook from sobs, the only thing she seemingly had the power to do was wrap her arm around Sue's neck.

"You poor thing.." The brunette ran her fingers through her tangled, blood soaked hair. "..No doubt," she felt tears sting at her eyes. "No more fears. I see you shine and the dark disappears.." she kissed Carrie's head.

And that's when Carrie went limp.

And Sue had never felt so alone.

Many had told Sue that surviving The Black Prom made her lucky. The only one who survived out of 73 people who were killed that night.

No. That wasn't the case, it was terrible. She saw her own friends die. She saw her own boyfriend die. And she couldn't do anything about it.

What was terrible, was that she felt more sad and upset over the girl who caused the death of everyone.

Carrie White.

The girl died in her own hands. And all she could do was just watch her take her last breath, feel her body go limp, and frantically apologize for all that she's done to her.

She was traumatized.

She would give anything to give Carrie the life she deserved. But she couldn't. Carrie was dead.

Sometimes she would see her. Well, in dreams. Just standing there with a broken look in her big brown eyes. She said nothing. Sue knew it was all just a dream and that she was dead, she wasn't in denial. But part of her wished it was real and that Carrie was okay.

Sue closed her eyes then shook her head. "It's real," she looked at her therapist with an upset look.

"You're not gonna get better if you lie, Ms. Snell."

"It isn't a lie." Sue's voice softened. "Carrie's real. She had powers. We pushed her." She looked down at her hands. "We made her go insane." It's all my fault. Tears streamed down her face.

A faint voice. She swore she heard it. But it was.. probably just her imagination. She was desperate. Too desperate for Carrie to come back.

"It's not your fault, Sue."

That night, Sue could hardly sleep. She was tired, but every time she'd finally drift off, she would always flinch back awake due to the slightest sound.

Sue whimpered then pulled the covers closer to her head. All she could think about was Prom.

Especially Carrie.

Not much later Sue finally got to sleep. I'm dreaming, she assumed, walking around. Everything's hazy.. dreamy.. yeah. She walked past Carrie's house which caused her to furrow her eyebrows. Her house was still built up.

A dream, She bit her lip, still in a thought, this is all a dream.

Her curiosity got the best of her and she walked into her house. It was decorated with crosses and much more.

Sue shook her head then walked up the stairs which just so happened to be Carrie's room. She paused in the doorway, a familiar feeling of sadness rushed over her. It was all her fault.

She wiped her tears away with her sleeve then sat down on the bed, looking down at the floor blankly.

Sue suddenly felt arms wrap around her. She flinched then looked up.

Carrie.

"H-how — you -"

"I'm sorry."

No, Sue shook her head. She should be the one apologizing, not Carrie. They pushed her. She pushed her. "I don't — n-no. I'm sorry." She knew this was all a dream.. but why was she talking to her?

"I - Carrie?"

"Huh?"

"Why are you even.. sorry?" Sue looked at her.

"I made you scared." Carrie lowered her gaze. "I don't want you to be scared. I want you to be happy."

Sue gave her a small smile, tears welling up in her eyes. "I am happy."

"Good." Carrie smiled back. "I don't like seeing you sad. It makes me sad."

"Aw Carrie." Sue placed her hand on Carrie's cheek. "Why'd we ever hurt you.." she quietly said, more to herself than anything.

"Uh..! I feel fluttery.. Sue." Carrie put her hand on her stomach, a pink blush dusting her face.

Sue giggled, a few stray tears falling out of her eyes. "Me too, Carrie."

Carrie looked at Sue. "You're still sad.."

"I can't help it." Sue sniffled. "You aren't real. And i just —.." she trailed off, looking down.

"I am real." Carrie tilted her head. "I can visit your dreams.. remember?"

Sue looked at Carrie. She couldn't tell if she was crying out of sadness or joy. "So.. so everytime I dreamt of you," she grabbed Carrie's hand. "It really was you?"

Carrie nodded her head. "I like visiting you. You're the nicest person.. ever."

"I'm not." Sue shook her head. "I bullied you too."

"But you still care," she mumbled. "You wouldn't have come to my house that night if you didn't."

Sue ignored what she said, "I'm so sorry, Carrie." Sue murmured. "You didn't deserve that. Any of it."

"Sue," Carrie held onto her tighter. "I forgive you. It's okay. I promise."

Sue only shook her head, still confused on how Carrie could even come close to forgiving her. "Okay. If you say so."

Carrie looked sympathetically at Sue. "..Smile!"

Sue tilted her head at Carrie. "Huh?"

"Smile. I want you to be happy." Carrie hummed. "Please?"

Sue let out a small smile.

"You're so pretty." Carrie put her forehead against Sue's. She saw a lot of couples do this. And she loved Sue, so there wouldn't be much of a difference, right? "Please, please be happy. Even when you aren't dreaming?"

"Okay." Sue nodded her head. "If I can see you again..?"

Carrie nodded her head, a sweet smile spreading across her face. "Of course!"

Sue fluttered her eyes open. She glanced around her room then rubbed her eyes.

Wait, Sue frantically thought. What if that really was just a dream? What if that wasn't even Carrie..

Sue but her lip then frowned to herself, the thought making her upset all over again. She stood up with her head lowered, but before she walked out, she swore she saw the painting move out of the corner of her eye.

And a genuine smile graced her face.
