"Mmm.. This looks delicious Evaaa!," Mia exclaimed as she sat down on the couch and grabbed the plate of pancakes which was kept on the wooden centre table.
"How did you know I wanted to have pancakes today?", she asked Eva who was smiling.
"I can read minds you know," Eva said.
"Oh really?",Mia asked as she took her first bite.
"This tastes divine! How can you make them so perfectly Eva!"
"Thanks Mia", Eva replied as she brought her own plate of breakfast and sat down next to her sister.
Mia kept talking about her dream, trying to remember the tiniest details and tell it to her sister, who didn't seem to be very interested as Mia had already told her the entire dream thrice.
Eva finished her food and waited for Mia who was enjoying every bite with so much delight to finish, with all the patience she had left in her.
Mia finished her pancakes and started eating the blueberries which she had saved for the last, one by one.
Eva's patience level slowly dropped down to zero.
"Don't you think you're forgetting something Mia?", she asked.
"What? What am I forgetting?" Mia asked, carefully choosing the perfect blueberry and popping it into her mouth.
"Looks like all memories of yesterday night have vanished from your brain," Eva replied.
"All that I remember is my devastating dream. It's like a song put on repeat in my head. I just can't think of anything else right now."
Mia popped another blueberry into her mouth.
Eva stared at her face hopelessly. She couldn't wait anymore now.
"Mia! How can you forget that you won the lucky draw last night!", Eva said not waiting for her twin to recollect the memories of last night.
Mia almost choked on the last blueberry she ate.
*cough*
"Oh *cough* My God!"
*cough-cough*
"I totally *cough* forgot!"
"How could I...*cough*
*cough*
*cough*
"You okay Mia? Here have some water!" Eva gave her a glass of water instantly.
Mia quickly gulped down the entire glass of water in one go.
"Why didn't you tell me before?
*cough*
It completely slipped out of my head. I'm so stupid to forget such an important..."
Before Mia could finish, Eva said, "Okay okay! Calm down Mi!" She patted Mia on her back.
Mia took a deep breath in and smiled at her sister.
"So should we check it out now?" Eva asked.
"Yes!" Mia replied immediately.
"Where have you kept the lucky draw ticket? I hope you haven't forgotten that!" Eva asked.
"I do remember that! You get the magazine and I'll get the ticket" Mia said.
Eva pulled out the magazine from a neat stack of books on her table, without disturbing it.
Mia opened the drawer under her study table and carefully removed an envelope and handed it to Eva.
"Woah! You've kept it so safely!". Eva opened it and inverted it on her bed.
Hundreds of lucky draw tickets flew out of it and landed on the bed.
"What is this!? You've been collecting all tickets for this long?" Eva asked shocked.
"Yeah, this is my lucky draw ticket collection! Isn't it cool? I kept them all with the hope that one day I'd win a lucky draw. And see I did! One should never give up hope."
"Oh Mia! This is crazy! I can't believe you.....Wait! don't tell me you've mixed the latest one in them! Have you?", she asked, staring at all the tickets on her bed and her face turning pale.
"Umm...we'll find it out faster if we search for it together!" Mia replied in a good spirit with a grin.
"Mia! Why do you do such things! We don't even remember the number. We'll take ages to find it out!" Eva said annoyed and disappointed.
Mia kept calm.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Eva asked, frustrated.
Mia just smiled.
"Huh? What is Mia wrong with you?" Eva asked getting more annoyed.
Mia didn't say a word.
She slipped her hand in the pocket of her grey sweatshirt and pulled out the ticket.
"Here," she said handing it to Eva.
"Oh Mia, why did you have to do this prank on me now?" Eva sighed.
"I just wanted to see you panic! You made enough fun of me and my dream" Mia said and laughed.
"So that's a revenge huh?" Eva laughed too.
Mia grinned at her as Eva opened the page of the magazine which had the results and rechecked if the lucky draw numbers matched. Her mind still a bit reluctant to believe this whole lucky draw thing.
Mia turned on the laptop while Eva read out the instructions mentioned in the magazine.
"You are very lucky to win this prestigious 'Test Your Luck' lucky draw! To know what your luck has brought to you, go to this website www.tyl.com".
Eva repeated the name of the website for Mia to type in down.
Mia immediately entered the number and clicked on search.
Both Eva and Mia stared at the screen. They were extremely excited to know what their luck would bring for them.
But website didn't open.
It kept loading. And loading.
"Have you typed it right?" Eva asked.
"Yes, you can have a look" Mia handed the laptop to her. Eva saw it was correct.
As the site was loading their heartbeats were going up higher.
Suddenly a web page opened. Mia's heart almost skipped a beat.
The web page was just all white with nothing except for a tiny box in the centre of the screen.
"What a website! Not at all the way I expected it to be like. I thought it would be a splendid site with amazing ...well nevermind!" Mia said disappointed but didn't wasn't going to give up hope.
"Me too but I still doubt this lucky draw thing. What if all this is fake? This website doesn't look very promising either" Eva replied.
"Be positive sissy. Don't you always tell me this? Can you check if anything's mentioned near that box?" Mia asked.
Below the box there was some text written in the tiniest font size available.
"It says enter your lucky draw code", Eva said straining her eyes to read the text.
Mia grabbed the lucky draw ticket and read the numbers aloud slowly. Eva carefully typed it down and pressed the enter key.
Excitement filled the air as they anxiously waited for something to show up on the screen.
"I can't wait to see what it is!" Mia exclaimed.
"Finally within a few seconds we'll get to know!" Eva replied equally excited.
" What do you think it is Eva? What if its a..." before Mia could finish, the screen went blank. Pitch black.
"What just happened?" Eva stared at the laptop and shook it hoping it will come back to life.
"I don't know!" Mia was seriously shocked.
Eva thought for a second.
"Mia, did you forget to charge your laptop yesterday?"
"Ohh damn right...how could I..."
"The case is solved, Miss Mia Watson. And it's time for you to be more responsible."
