The verdant garden is bathed in sunlight as the rays stream through the thick leaves and tree bark layers above. The grass grows in thick mats of deep green, the scent of it filling the air with a soothing aroma. The forest, meanwhile, stands like guardian walls, the trees and bushes standing sentry against the outside world.

Except, there was no outside world.

Trees layered on by more trees surrounded one of the only areas with the sun creeping through. To the garden, it was heavenly- what kind of plant wouldn't love the scenery? But to the mobian mind, it was choking.

No soul can be seen for miles, yards. It was absolutely suffocating feeling the hands of loneliness grab at your neck and grip it with the same strength as the greenery around you.

She tried to ignore that though-- and by she, I mean Minsor the Cow.

This poor lady has been trapped here for ages. 'It's alright though,' she tells herself, 'It could be way worse.'

Dressed in a cottage-fitting outfit, Minsor was making her rounds around the garden; watering flowers, sweeping the pathways, touching up bushes. This is what she did every day. Over and over again. For who knows how long.

Painful. That's all it was.

She couldn't remember the last time she wasn't in her thoughts; in her mind thinking and worrying about what she should do and what she could change.

"Augh!"

Except for when she visited.

Minsor was immediately on her feet when she heard the distinct grunt of pain. She didn't need to make it a foot without the pink hedgehog rounding the corner and into her garden. Thorn Rose. Her best friend? Her worst nightmare? Minsor questions that herself.

"Rose," the cow carefully and cautiously walks over, "what's wrong?"

"Damn, Scavengers... They keep hurting the forest. They're tiring out Birdie and destroying everything they come across!" The hedgehog sneers, her hand-made hammer swinging slightly from her evident rage. Minsor took a small step back and placed her hands on her chest as small worms of fear seeped into her mind. 'Please- Please, don't take this out on me.'

"I see... Why don't you come inside? I can make us tea?" She swallowed hard at the thought of angering her friend further. It has happened before, but thankfully, it wasn't taken out on her- still, seeing it made a phobia that she never thought she'd receive sit in her head with an iron boot.

Thorn smiles a bit causing Minsor ever so slightly to flinch back. The hedgehog looked up at her with deep, hazed eyes. Ever since the forest clouded her vision, the cow never saw her friend's light green eyes. All she saw was madness, obsession, and eagerness. Her best friend was long gone and was replaced with a woman who worshiped her and nature like a disgusting cult.

The things she did... chaos, Minsor felt the need to gag and spill her guts every time she smiled up at her like that.

"Of course, Love." Thorn, without warning, grabbed Minsor's hand and ran into the small, log cabin.

The pink and green cow always found it strange how the hedgehog allowed her to chop down trees to build a house. Thorn adored nature, but she almost felt like drolling when she watched Minsor chop down those trees with a heavy battle axe.

Watching her muscles flex and sweat felt like a hypnotizing eye candy, and she couldn't help but let that disturbing smile stretch across her face.

Anyways, Thorn plops down on the hard ground, happily kicking her feet at the thought of sharing tea with her gorgeous, flower-loving other. 'What if she forgot to wash her other dishes, and we have to share a mug?? Chaos, I'm so romantic!' Fanning her face, Thorn laughed in child-like wonder as her bird stared at her from the window, not-so-secretly judging.

"Lavender tea!" Minsor came walking into the room with a wood tray causing Thorn to whip her head over in excitement- that quickly drained when the tray had (not only two) but three cups of tea.

Minsor set the tray on the floor before walking to the large, pink bird. Birdie curiously tilted her head, and the cow began to fish for something in her pocket, her tongue sticking out of the side of her mouth due to whatever it was getting stuck. Seconds later, Minsor pulled out a small, woven bag of Sunflower seeds with a large smile. "Look at what I have for you, Saloryss!"

The bird perked up in happiness and cawed, her feet tapping on the grass in happiness. The woman giggled, but before she could hand any to the bird, Birdie scooped it up and ate it whole, bag and all.

"Oh..."

"Darling, what is my flower again?" Thorn calls out from behind her causing her to flinch slightly. "O-Oh, why?"

"No reason. I just like hearing you say it."

"... You are a Black rose."

"Why?" The hedgehog places her head in her hands and looks up at the other with those haze-filled eyes.

"..." Minsor feels like disappearing. It doesn't look like it, but one wrong word could collapse the cabin. That happened before- and Thorn does nothing to help. She just watches with that discomforting smile. "Well... It means comfort o-or optimism. It's a lovely flower."

Thankfully, however, the answer made Thorn melt to the floor. 'She finds comfort in me- I knew keeping her here would make her realize it,' She felt like crying from pure bliss and happiness. 'She needs me. She loves me.'

Minsor just watched, face fighting to show how disturbed she was. She hated it here, but she can't leave. What if Thorn finds her again? What if she goes after her friends? What'll she do to herself if she finds her gone?

Suddenly, Birdie lets out a screech and turns around quickly, cawing and roaring. The sound startles Minsor, and she scrambles away from the window. "What is it!?"

"They're back again." Thorn was quickly off the floor and beside the window. The snarl on her face only stretched further as the smell of unkept fur wafted through the forest. She turned to Minsor, her anger never leaving. "Stay inside."

"Wait, Rose!"

"Yes? What's wrong- are you hurt?" Away from the window and by the cow's side, Thorn's rage was mixed with concern and worry.

"No- but..." Great. Minsor didn't even know why she stopped her- it just spilled from her mouth faster than she could back it up. 'Stop being afraid. Say what's on your mind.' She tried to hype herself up only to go away once she looked into Thorn's eyes again. "Perhaps you could let them grab some berries..?"

"..."

"WHAT!?"

Yeah, she's screwed.

"I know they hurt the forest a long time ago but-"

"But no. We are not letting some Monsters steal from the forest!" She took a step further, her face filled with evident rage. "Just-! ..." She took a step back and sighed. "Stay inside. Don't think about leaving."

Storming out the door, Thorn boards Birdie, and with one last glance at the house, she is gone.

'Well, that's just great.' Minsor groaned in disappointment.

It wasn't until she heard a sudden crash that she look back at the door. It was slightly bent inwards, indicating something had slammed into it with heavy force. 'No...' She knew exactly what this was.

"Blackrose!" The cow ran towards the door and banged against it. Despite her strange strength, it did nothing. Peaking over the window beside it, her hopes dropped when she saw three massive boulders placed outside her exit as Thorn walked away with a pointed, sickening glare. "You break out, and I'll make sure you won't be able to leave again."

"Blackrose! Blackrose, please don't do this again! Please!" Minsor begged from the window, her pleads sadly going on deaf ears. All she could do was collapse to the floor and cry.

So, it's raining hedgehogs out here.

From the sky falls Sonic, hitting branches and trees on his way down. When he finally landed, he lay dazed on the ground for a few seconds before standing up and rubbing his head from the pain. "Oh, I really gotta start landing on my feet."

Sonic's ears flickered, and in confusion, he looked around. "What..? Where am I?"

"Nine? Nine?? Are you out there, buddy? Manic? Can you hear me? Rebel?? Heck, I'd even take Knucks at this point..." His eyes flash around in confusion, "Is this a city park? Huh, I wonder if the Rebels know about this."

He looks down at the mess of trees and jungle below. It's then that he finally notices that his shoes and gloves have changed to match the look of the new world he was thrown into. "Whoa... My kicks and gloves have a new look. But why?" His eyes shine in wonder, confusion, and awe.

"Wait- Okay, Sonic, think. It's not like answers are just gonna fall from the sky--"

Without warning, a bundle of Sonic's friends flies from the jungle floor below, screaming high before hitting the wooden ground.

"There you are!" Sonic excitedly shouts and runs toward them.

With the group, the variation of the blue hedgehog's friend groans and pouts. "I told you it was too dangerous! We should make do with what we have," the cat grumbly stated.

"Well, we don't really have to- because we have nothing!" the armadillo shouts in anger.

"What!? No! I'm starvin'!" The echidna grabs the cat's and armadillo's hand and shakes it madly. "And we're wasting away up here!"

"Not anytime soon." The three turn their attention to the bat as she holds her palm. On it, a sweet, fresh berry. The cat runs over, trying to snatch it. "Ah! Gimme, gimme, gimme!"

She easily holds him back by his nose. "Back off! Unless you've got something to trade." The statement made the armadillo groan dramatically in annoyance.

"Guys! Can you hear me?"

"Wait- do you hear something?" The bat looks around in caution and confusion.

"It's the trees! They're talkin' to us!"
"T-The trees?? I knew today was the day. Take me, crows."

The bat looks over the slightly insane echidna and armadillo. "We've already been over this you two. Trees don't speak and we're not going to die."

"Says you! The crows are searching for us!"

"Yeah, that's what they want you to think! The trees are waitin'- preparin'!"

She just sighs.

Sonic speeds through the wooden base, looking sharply for the mobians who just flew onto the platforms. "Guys? Guys?? Where are you?"

He quickly skids to a stop, accidentally bumping into the Scavengers in the process. They all, including Sonic, fall. The bat loses grasp of the berry she was holding as it, eventually, rolls away and falls back into the jungle.

"NO!" The Scanvengers yell in horror as their only source of food disappears into the trees below. They each lay down, feeling defeated.

"Yep, we're wasting away." The cat sighs.

"I told you: we're doomed." The armadillo started beside him with a huff. "Just lay down and accept it."

The bat looked at the armadillo in disappointment and pity. "Hefty..."

"Rebel, Knucks... Big and Mighty?" Despite his confusion, Sonic gets them back on their feet and does a few runs around them. "Oh, I'm so glad you're okay! And where are we? And any sign of Nine or Manic? And why are you dressed like cave mobians exactly?"

Not a second later, they all had weapons pointed at him with a cautious, warning snare. Sonic points to the weapons, even more confused and slightly alarmed. "Now... That's new."

"He's here for our supplies!" The echidna points at him assumingly causing the armadillo to but in as well. "I need to live a little longer, Mole Rat!"

Backing away, Sonic swallows hard as more alarms go off in his head. "Uh oh..."
