"What kind of budget are these people working with??"

The six mobians, now exhausted from battle, stand triumphantly on top of a pile of broken robots, breathing heavily, arms resting on their weapons, eyes darting around in search of their next victim. The atmosphere is tense and filled with anticipation of another attack, or the sound of footsteps echoing in the distance.

All of the people are still primarily unharmed. One of them, Sonic, is smiling triumphantly, others frowning and looking down, deep in thought. One, (Y/N), seemed to be in a mix of emotions, her expressions neutral yet focused on her task.

The cow's eyes scan the area, her expression slowly dropping as more concern washes into her face. She faces the group, ignoring their current conversation, and addresses them as a whole. "A-Are you sure you guys are prepared to get the prism? I... I mean... we could attack them a different way-"

"No, this is the only way. We have to do this." Rebel interrupts her and climbs down the stack of dead and destroyed robots.

(Y/N) nods hesitantly before following the others to the exit. She runs next to Renegade with a worried expression on her face, which doesn't go unnoticed by the echidna. He looks her way, not slowing his speed. "What's up with you?"

"I'm worried... There's no way the Chaos Council will allow us to get by so easily."

"You're worried about what the Council has up their sleeve?"

She nods, the worried look on her face growing by the second as a pit of doubt begins to form in her stomach. Renegade stays silent for a moment. He gently places a hand on her shoulder and gives it a soft and sympathetic squeeze. (Y/N) turned to look at him, trying her best to hide her surprise after seeing how empathetic his face looked.

"I get it. I really do. I remember the day we lost Green Hills, the day we lost her, but that's why I keep fighting." He takes his hand off her shoulder. "I'll keep punching through whatever they throw at us, and I think you should too."

Eyes wide from the advice, (Y/N) nods quickly. "I will!" Her pace quickens as a large, determined smile stretches across her face. With new motivation, she runs up to meet Sonic, who looks over in slight awe.

"You're happy all of a sudden." He quips, a grin appearing on his face.

"Yeah! When this is over, I'm going to make so much onigiri that I'll pop!"

"That's the spirit!"

"Wait, Sonic-!" Nine stops the blue hedgehog who looks over at him in confusion. (Y/N) doesn't stop in time and accidentally runs into a wall, causing the group behind her to wince at the large echoing sound of clashing metal. Dizzily, she walked away from the wall and stood beside Rusty, who looked at her with slight concern before handing her a small, plain bandaid.

"Sorry, Nine... You can continue." (Y/N)'s face was red as she embarrassingly stared at the ground.

"Well..." Nine turned his head away from the flustered cow to face Sonic. "Sonic's connected to the prism energy and thanks to my handiwork, his shoes are picking up the energy signature."

Sonic looks down at his shoes. "He's right! It's like they're calling out to it!" He then proceeded to zip around the room to showcase how the shoes responded to the energy pulsing from the prism.

Suddenly, the door behind them burst open, scaring almost everyone. As dust and debris fly around the hallway, Dr. Deep's voice echoes throughout the corridor along with multiple sounds of robotic beeping. "I'm going to origami that hedgehog! Find him!"

(Y/N) looked around, trying to remember where the exit was before she was suddenly gripped by the arm and dragged down another hallway. "C'mon! Let's go!" Nine, who was leading her by the wrist, called out to the rest of the Resistance, who quickly followed.

The mobians ran through the dimly lit, metallic hallway. Their footsteps clanged against the metal floors, echoing all around them. The metal walls were filled with various mechanical parts, making the hallway look like there was a giant robot smashed all over the place. The floor was uneven, with some pieces jutting out, making it hard to run without tripping. The humming began to grow louder causing the group's distress to grow more and more.

Rebel caught up to Nine and (Y/N), her face focused but anxious. She turned toward (Y/N) as her ears flicked from the sound of incoming Egg Forcers. "(Y/N)!"

"Eh?"

"Do the robots have any weaknesses?"

"Uh..." She placed held a finger to her chin. "... Ah- Yes! Due to some mishaps in creation; and totally not because of my laziness; if you were to destroy one, its explosion would cause a chain reaction. If we were to destroy the right one at the right time, we could destroy them all!"

Rebel smiled, determination sweeping across her face. "All right, I like that idea!"

(Y/N) smiled back, and out of nowhere, lasers began to fire at them. The beams buzzed along the corridor, moving in all directions. The animals had to duck and dodge as the lasers flew all around them. They ran as fast as they could, trying to avoid being hit. The hallway was dark, and it was hard to see where the next laser was going to come from.

Nine pulled a device out of his pocket and tried to fire back at the oncoming robots while the others dodged and swerved out of the way. The fox looked away from the robots and pointed toward the door ahead. "That's gotta be it!" Renegade nodded and Sonic gave a thumbs up, but before they could do anything, they were suddenly tackled to the ground.

Renegade grunted and looked up. With his teeth bared, he positioned himself to toss the attacker toward the wall-- but then he stopped. The mobians completely stopped and stared at the attacker, their purple, glistening skin wholly contrasted with the tan metal that latched itself onto Sonic.

(Y/N), frozen and stiff, breathed heavily as her green eyes met her dull, expressionless purple eyes.

"Shinobu..."

"Well, well, well..."

The four, (Y/N), Rebel, Renegade, and Rusty, are shocked as their eyes land on the pale, metal complexion and large, purple eyes of the sugar glider.

"Hey, (Y/N)!"

Their first reflex is to call out their friend's name. They try to talk her down, desperately telling her to stop, but the robot ignores their pleas and takes a step forward.

"Nee-San! Come meet, (Y/N)!"

"Hey, get your foot off of me!" Sonic stirs on the ground before looking up, meeting the dark, black eyes of a red and black armadillo.

"(Y/N), come look!"

Stumbling on her feet, the cow falls to the ground. Tears begin to pool in her eyes as thoughts jumble and harshly bounce around her mind.

"Hey! Look there!"

"(Y/N), look out!"

Shinobu suddenly launched herself at (Y/N). As the robotic unleashes a series of powerful strikes at the woman, she does her best to dodge and evade the incoming onslaught.

She shifts back and forth, bobbing and weaving through the air as she tries to stay one step ahead of Shinobu's attack. With every dodge, she gets a little sloppy and a little more off-balance, but she manages to narrowly avoid the powerful strikes of the robot.

"Shinobu! Stop it, please!" (Y/N) calls out to her friend in despair. The robot attempts to use this moment of weakness to her advantage, but Rebel comes and knocks her to the ground. The bat strains her head to look at the shaking cow to her left. "Go! We'll keep them down!"

"Resistance, you will all pay for your crimes against the Chaos Council. Starting now."

The armadillo flipped Sonic and threw him into the wall, leaving a significant, sickening dent. He quickly turned around, tackled Renegade to the ground, and clawed at him aggressively. Abruptly, Rusty picked up the other robot and tossed him across the room.

"Mecha Might, Steel Shinso, refrain from attacking." [ I'm so good at naming bitches istg ] The two attack each other, dodging each other's punches and kicks. "Why are you working with them?-- No matter. We will exterminate them where they stand."

Mecha points his blaster at Rusty and fires at her causing her to fly back. The armadillo looks around as the rest of the Resistance stands their ground. His metal eye spots (Y/N); his eyes originally softened as her green eyes stared at him with sadness and guilt, but a harsh glare slams onto his face as Rebel pulls the collapsed mechanic onto her feet.

"(Y/N)!? C'mon- we gotta go!-" Rebel falls and rolls onto the ground as Mecha's blaster hits her straight in the stomach. (Y/N) jumps in surprise, suddenly being pulled to her feet and pushed against a metal chest. "Don't you dare touch her."

Nine points his device at the armadillo before firing a laser that immobilizes him on the spot. "Too bad."

Shinso looks at Mecha's shut-off body in shock. "No!" She readies her swords and runs to Nine with rage. The fox flinches and ducks last second, the tip of her swords slashing off the tip of some of his fur.

"Hold on, buddy!" Spin-dashing into Shinso, Sonic knocks the robot to her feet, and Nine shocks the sugar glider, sending her to the ground.

"Mighty!"

The armadillo turned his head, his black eyes caught the sweet look of the kind, green eyes of (Y/N).

His breath caught in his throat, his heart started beating faster, and his cheeks began blushing. He watched her in amazement as she ran, his mind running with all the possible outcomes of what might happen next, as she drew closer. Mighty finally looked away, embarrassed that he had such an intense reaction, but secretly hoping that she hadn't noticed and wishing that he'd never look away again.

She caught up to him, somehow not out of breath, and cheerfully chuckled. "Good morning!"

"Did you run all the way over here just to say hi?"

"No!" (Y/N) huffed with a smile. "I just got word from Urara that Robotnik's building something big. Would you like to check it out with me?"

Mighty grinned happily and shrugged. "Sure! Lead the way!"

Gingerly, the cow took the armadillo's hand and ran off into the forest. The cow's ( preferred color ) cardigan whipped behind her as her ( preferred pattern ) pantsuit occasionally caught on a branch that she would easily detach with a simple tug.

Thankfully, she was too preoccupied in her head to notice the slight red on his tan face. His black eyes flashed between their holding hands and the path in front of them as small drops of sweat ran off of his face.

"What do you think the Doctor's up to?" (Y/N)'s voice sparked Mighty mind causing him to exit his mind and turn his attention back to the lady in front of him.

He flashed a kind, closed-eyed smile and picked up his pace. "I'm not sure-- but whatever it is, I'm sure we'll get through it. Together!"

As (Y/N) looks down at their defeated, robotic friends, her eyes are filled with sadness and disbelief.

The cow wonders how things could've turned out so differently and feels a sense of loss for their friendship and what could've been. At that moment, she felt conflicted, confused, and hurt by the outcome they'd suffered.

At the same time, (Y/N) also felt a sense of relief and closure knowing that the robots were decommissioned and their plans were still in motion-- even if those robots were her friends.

"Shut it down! Shut it down!!" A booming voice over the intercom snapped (Y/N) back to reality. "Close all corridors!"

"Wha!" Rushing down the hall, (Y/N) dodged incoming lasers while trying her best to clear her clouded mind. "Rosey! Get the door!"

Rusty nodded and stretched her body to hold open the pair of metal doors in front of them while Renegade picked up a metal container to stop the other pair of doors. The group ran inside as the door closed behind them, but before they could catch their breath, the doors opened once again; sending lasers and projectiles back through the hallway.

"I guess dreams don't come true." (Y/N) heard Renegade comment while perched against the wall.

Besides her, Sonic chuckled and placed his hands on his hips. "Ah, c'mon! You don't believe that, do ya?"

"Well," The echidna chucked a metal container at the robots with a grunt. "- prove me wrong!"

Like a blur, the hedgehog danced around the room. His blur streak wiped throughout the hall, somehow expertly dodging the plasma lasers fired at them. (Y/N) looked in awe at Sonic's incredible speed and only looked away when the blue blur knocked the robots, along with Dr. Deep, out of the side of the building.

Sonic chuckled and began to race back over to the group. "Did you see that, (Y/N)?? That was totally awe-!"

Dr. Babble and a couple of other security robots appeared around the corner which caused Sonic to skid to a stop and groan. "Enough with the baby- give me the old man for once." He peered over to the rest of the group. "Nine, how we doin' over there!?"

The fox huffed in response, "I need more time!"

"(Y/N)!" (Y/N) turned to Nine quickly, giving him all ears. "Do you know the password to the door?"

"The Council never told me-- but I can help you hack it!" Rushing over, (Y/N) cracked her knuckles and began to quickly type on the keypad. She kept her eyes on the device as she called out to Rusty, "Can you keep the robots at bay, Rosey?"

"Of course."

The cow tried her best to focus on the keypad while ignoring the yelling and explosions behind her. She let a bead of sweat fall onto the keys as she typed away in complete focus. Suddenly, she was pulled backward by Nine, a laser barely missing her face by a couple of centimeters. "Keep your guard up!" The fox scolded.

"Sorry!" (Y/N) returned to the device, her eyes now anxiously flicking to her left occasionally. Her green eyes landed on Rebel, who was studying each and every single robot in the crowd. She'd dodge a laser from time to time but never would she actually attack back; she just stood there.

Moving her eyes over to Renegade, Rebel flew over to him just as he destroyed a robot in front of him. She grabbed his arm, pointed toward a robot in the mass, and said something (Y/N) couldn't quite hear.

The echidna brightened at whatever Rebel said and quickly went to attack the robot she pointed at, causing it to explode on impact. It's explosion took out two other robots besides it whose explosions caused others to implode and take down robots besides it. Soon, the floor was covered in destroyed, metal parts as Rebel, Renegade, and Rusty stood proudly amongst it.

"Rebel!" The bat flinched slightly as she was suddenly hugged tightly by the mechanic. "That was so well coordinated!" Rebel chuckled at the compliment as Renegade fused in jealousy beside her- which didn't go unnoticed by (Y/N) (for once).

"You did nice enacting that plan, Renegade! Would you like a hug too?"

"No thanks, (Y/N). Rebel and I don't do hugs."

'Huh?' (Y/N) tilted her head in confusion. 'Then what was he making that face for?... Wait. Does he like Rebe-'

Sonic returned and stopped in front of (Y/N) who still had her hands idly out in front of her. Thinking the hug was for him, he happily wrapped himself in her arms while giggling softly.

The cow blinked in confusion but shrugged it off and hugged Sonic back, which caused him to grin wider and sway side to side in glee. He broke the hug and looked her in the eyes with a huge smile, but slowly, the smile shrunk and lessened. Concerned, (Y/N) attempted to ask what was wrong but was interrupted by a high-pitched voice.

"I got it!" Nine catches the rest of the group's attention. "We're in!"

The doors slowly open and the animals huddle together to look through the double doors. Nine turned his head slightly to see (Y/N)'s expression but reeled back in surprise when he noticed the blue blur standing at her side, looking at (Y/N) in sadness and guilt. "Sonic! We didn't think you'd make it back!.. Are you okay?"

Sighing, Sonic nodded and walked ahead of the group. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"To be honest, -" Renegade started. "- I thought you'd be flatter than a snake's belly."

"Really, Knux?" Rebel turned toward him as (Y/N) began to chuckle quietly.

"What? At least I was honest-"

Before Renegade could finish, he along with Rebel and Rusty was grabbed by a large, robotic hand. (Y/N) attempted to knock the trio out of the robot's grasp but was grabbed by the robot's other hand soon after.

"Need to drop down rice, do it yourself." Mr. Dr. Eggman's voice echoed from the robot. "Get away from the core- or your friends are toast! I may even lessen your punishment for manipulating (Y/N) to join your rubbish resistance!"

Rusty stretched her arm and hit the head of the machine causing Eggman to drop Renegade, Rebel, and (Y/N) and groan in slight pain and heavy annoyance.

(Y/N) hit the floor hard, her eyes filling with black dots as blood began to pour from her forehead. 'Great.' She thought. 'Out of all the things I had to fall on, it had to be a sharp robot part...' Straining herself, (Y/N) rose from the ground and an immense headache formed on her head. She swayed to the side, barely avoiding the foot of the large robot attacking her friends. 'Stars, I'm so hungry... And dizzy... Mostly hungry though.'

"I gotta... help them..."

"I gotta..."

"₍ₙY/ₙ₎!"

The mechanic looked to her left. Standing before her was the silhouette of Tanjiro, his eyes wide with worry. "ₐᵣₑ yₒᵤ ₐₗᵣᵢgₕₜ, ₍ₙY/ₙ₎??"

Tiredly, she held a thumb up before letting her hand fall to her side. (Y/N) looked around, slightly dazed due to the fall, before looking back at the Shiba boy staring at her. "What's wrong?"

"ₛₒₘₑₜₕᵢₙg ⱼᵤₛₜ ₕₐₚₚₑₙₑd ₜₒ ₛₒₙᵢc! Yₒᵤ ₐₙd yₒᵤᵣ fᵣᵢₑₙdₛ ₙₑₑd ₜₒ ₗₑₐᵥₑ!"

"Huh!? But we got so far! What happened!"

"ₙₒ ₜᵢₘₑ ₜₒ ₑₓₚₗₐᵢₙ! ⱼᵤₛₜ gₒ!"

Tanjiro disappeared from her sight and was replaced by an incoming laser. "Woah-!" She sloppily moved to the side and looked around the room to see where the boy might've gone. Without warning, (Y/N) was dragged toward the wall as even more lasers filled the hall.

"(Y/N), did you hear anything from Sonic!?" Rebel anxiously screamed in her ear while her eyes scanned the corridor.

"(Y/N)!?"

"Something... Something bad happened."

Now it's time for a Taisho-era secret!

The addition of Mecha Might and Steel Shinso was a constant back-and-forth idea for the author. 

Originally, she planned on including just Mecha Might as a guardian of the Prism, but then he thought about adding Shinobu since they were already mentioned in the Info Chapter. They've tried coin flips, wheels, and even dice to try to pick between the two but she just loved them so much.

In the end, he obviously decided to just add both. Although the robots' introductions will be short, they are glad that she can satisfy her love for both.
