Chapter 26- Goodbye!
Sorry for the long update ^_^
Slowly and reluctantly, Caroline uncovered her face. She blinked, closed her eyes, and blinked again unsure of where she was. Streaks of sunlight penetrated the window and blinded her.
She tried to sit up but a strong firm preventing her from doing so. Klaus' arms were wrapped around her. She tried to move, but he was not letting her go. She turned facing him. He looked so vulnerable, you would not know whether he was that arrogant man.
Caroline smiled stroking her hand along his cheeks. Klaus stirred in his sleep.
"Good Morning, love" Klaus said, his eyes closed.
"Morning!" she replied.
"How are you feeling?" Caroline asked.
"Much better, why?" he inquired.
"Well, a lot have happened between us, your father and so much more" she said.
"I know, Caroline. But I'm feeling good. For once, I feel like I'm myself. No need to keep the image my father is always expecting me to keep" Klaus said.
"Are you ready to forgive Mikael?" Caroline asked unsure whether she had done a good thing of asking.
But Klaus did not seem to mind. He trusted her. Klaus needed Caroline as much as she needed him.
"To be honest, I'm still haunted by those memories. I'm trying to pick myself up, piece by piece. Perhaps I need more time" Klaus said.
"Underneath it all, I'm held captive by Mikael. I can try to forgive him, but forgetting is a harder fight" he muttered and added.
"I need more time"
"Klaus I want you to know I felt in love with the person you are, the person that would do anything to protect those precious to him" Caroline cupped his cheeks.
Klaus brought his hands on that of Caroline and kissed her. Their kiss was a pure romance, the kind that grabbed you in your gut and squeezed. It wasn't a kiss that is meeting some sexual need, it's so very much need.
Kissing is an act of emotion.
"What did you plan for today?" Klaus asked Caroline.
"Well, I need to take some stuffs from Russian Tea Room and then I'm all yours" Caroline pecked him on his lips.
"I think you and I have a lot of things to clear" Caroline mumbled.
"About what?" Klaus raised his eyebrows.
"You know.........about Aurora. What are you going to do?"
"I guess I will tell her the whole truth" Klaus muttered.
"I will see you later, I'm leaving" Caroline pecked him on his lips.
That shows so much how she cares for him. She was for once truly happy to be with the man who changed her so much.
After he had showered, he made her way to Aurora's brother workplace hoping to see her there. There to his surprise, he saw him leaning against the wall one of his hand his pocket and the other smoking a cigarette.
"Took you long enough, huh?"
"What do you want, Salvatore?" Klaus asked annoyed.
"I've heard that Caroline and you are together" Damon walked in front of him.
They were both in front of each other.
"You heard well" Klaus said.
"What will you do? Punch me or you'll go to confess to her too?" he raised an eyebrow at him.
"Caroline made her own choice, I don't want to imply. Besides, I don't have romantic feelings for Caroline" Damon said.
"All that was a lie. You were never in love with her to begin with. Then why did you do that?" Klaus asked astonished.
"Well, to make you realize what you have been missing. I wanted to see your interesting expressions. I just wanted to make sure if you genuinely loved her. I only see Caroline as a friend, as a precious friend. Hurt her, and you'll see the worst of Damon Salvatore" only he knew he was lying.
You can't obtain everything you want. Not everything is fair in life.
"Till then Mikaelson, don't you dare show your face to me. Love her as if there were no tomorrow" Damon tapped him slightly on his chest.
When he reached outside The Martel's channel, he took out his phone
"Brother, I think it's time to say your goodbyes!"
************
"My love! Do what I owe this pleasure?" Aurora said full of joy.
She was making her way to kiss Klaus but he took a step back.
"Why are you hesitant, Niklaus?" she asked confused.
"I'm in love with someone else" he confessed.
'What's the need of playing near the bush?'
"Y-You're not serious, right?" Aurora raised her voice.
"I'm more than serious" he looked at her.
"I loved you in the past, but since we got separated I met someone new who changed me, who changed everything around me" he muttered, he was going to end things now. He didn't need tomorrow to live his life with Caroline.
"You have no right to do that to me. You are nothing without me. Without me, you've no identity, not even of your father" she shouted at him.
"I'm not what I used to be, nowhere, nowhere near the other me. Broken dreams, losing my identity. Slowly breaking every part of me" he mumbled in a quiet voice, he wasn't going to shout at her.
"I gave up my whole life for you thought I knew in my heart I tried to find out the truth in your lies. Oh why, did I let you get your way with me? And now I see you are good from far away" he said taking slow steps towards her.
"I loved you, Niklaus. I saved you from your father. I love you" Aurora yelled.
"My mistake, I thought you really cared for me. I should have known you never do the same for me when I gave up my whole life" Klaus spoke in a calm tone.
"What are you saying? Nothing is making sense to me" she asked.
"You never loved me. All you did care was about my money. You may have been my first love, the first woman I ever have deep feelings for, but Caroline will be the last woman I loved. She'll with certitude be my last love" he said making his way to the exit.
"You're making a big mistake leaving me for that blonde bitch. You will regret it later. Mark my words, Niklaus" Aurora said.
When he was near the door, he looked at her and smirked
"You are pathetic"

"You're early!" Caroline kissed Klaus on his cheeks.
"Well, I had everything sorted pretty early" Klaus took his seats.
"I have something for you" she muttered.
"Here!" Caroline gave Klaus something.
He looked at her in confusion.
"What's that, love?" he asked confused.
"Open it!"
"An address?" he asked bewildered.
"I want you to go there" Caroline said.
"and where is this address going to lead me?" he questioned.
"To your father" she mumbled.
"Caroline, no I'm not going to see the man who abandoned me. I can't do that" Klaus was about to leave, but she took his hand in hers.
"My father left me when I was still a kid. My parents always fight and my father always said that I was the root of their problems. I always thought that I was an unwanted child. My father left my mother and took all the money with him" Caroline muttered.
"I held him responsible for everything he had done to us, to my mother who worked her ass for this family. But my mother always told me not to hate me father whether he hates or loves me. She always taught me to respect him no matter what" she said.
"That's why you need to know why your father left you. There must be a reason, Klaus. Give him one chance. Everyone deserves a chance" Caroline smiled at him.
"If that's what you want, then so be it"

He would not be doing all of this if it wasn't for her. One thing he knew for real, that he loved her more than anything.
He drove until he saw a small house near a lake. He knocked twice, but still no answer. He was about to leave when he heard someone
"Can I help you with something?"
"Umm...I'm looking for a man, Ansel" Klaus asked.
When the woman in front of him didn't say anything, he said
"I'm sorry for having disturb you" he turned away from the old woman.
"You have his eyes" the woman smiled.
He turned to look at her.
"Do come in!"
"You know my father?" Klaus questioned.
"He's the man I loved with all my heart" she said, but something disturbed Klaus. Her lips spoke happiness, but her eyes spoke sadness.
"You must be Niklaus" she asked.
He nodded.
"I'm Alice" she introduced herself.
"Is Ansel here?" Klaus asked.
"Oh, my dear! I'm sorry to say this to you, but Ansel is no more" she said sad.
"OH," that's all he could said.
"Condolences on your lost" he mumbled in a quiet voice.
He had no idea what to say more, his father biologic was dead.
"When I first met your father, he was still in love with your mother, Ester" she smiled.
"He was such a brave man, full of kindness, love and most importantly people respected him. He would always sacrifice himself for others"
"If everything you said about him is true, then why did he abandon me?" Klaus asked, tears in his eyes.
"That my son, I don't know. Your father loved you, but every time I ask him why don't you go see your son, he would always smile saying my son is better off without me" Alice said.
"How can he decide that?" he cried.
"I'm sure has his own reasons for his actions, but please don't hate your father. He left something for you in hope you'll come to find him someday" Klaus looked at her.
She handed him a letter.
When he left Alice's house, he drove to the end of the lake. There he sat on one of the bench and opened the letter.
"Dear son,
I am writing this to you because of three reasons
1 Life, fortune and mishaps are unpredictable, nobody knows how long he lives. Some words are better said early.
2 I am your father, and if I don't tell you these, no one else will.
3 What is written in my personal bitter experiences that perhaps could save you a lot of unnecessary heartaches. Remember the following as you go through life.
No one is indispensable, nothing is in the world that you must possess. Once you understand this idea, it would be easier for you to go through life when people around you don't need you anymore, or when you lose what/who you love the most.
Life is short. When you waste your life today, tomorrow you would find that life is leaving you. The earlier you treasure your life, the better you enjoy it.
I think that might help you in the future.
I'm sorry for not finding you, for not loving you. For not being the father you wanted me to be, for leaving you. If you're reading this. I'm dead.
I know I have no right to tell you all those things. But a man who's about to die has the right to act a little bit selfish.
Please don't hate your mother for not telling you this and don't hold Mikael responsible. But know one thing my son, I will always love you.
Goodbye!
Ansel"
He wanted to cry so badly, he wanted to shout but he couldn't. He never knew his father. He was certain that he was a man worth to know. He can't hate him, he wondered why. In his heart, Klaus knew he loved his father.
He did not why this letter eased all his pain, all his suffering. In the end, he just needed the truth.

"Hey Stefan!" Caroline greeted.
"You seem happy" her best friend smiled.
"I am" she said, a genuine smile playing on her lips.
"Do what I owe that pleasure?" Caroline asked.
"I'm leaving" Stefan muttered.
"W-what? Why?" she asked with a puzzled look.
"I have nothing here anymore, Care. Damon and I are leaving town" Stefan said.
"Damon, too?" she asked.
He nodded.
"I know even if I ask you to stay, you wouldn't" Caroline said.
"You're probably right" Stefan chuckled.
"Does Katherine know?" Caroline asked.
"Yes, I told her before coming to you"
"Why didn't Damon come to see me?" Caroline asked surprised to why she didn't hear the nickname 'Blondie'.
"I guess he needed to sort all his thoughts" Stefan whispered.
"Why?" Caroline asked.
"I don't know"
"He asked me to give you this" Stefan handed Caroline a small box.
"Goodbye Caroline!" Stefan kissed her on her cheeks before disappearing.
"Goodbye!" she whispered before opening the box.
"Dear Caroline,
I should already be gone when you're going to open this box. I still don't know if Klaus is a good match for you but it's your own life, I will respect that decision of yours.
Blondie, don't love him too much, you wouldn't want be to be dying with jealousy. There's nothing in New York for Stefan and me. We're going where God wants us to.
I know I have no chance with you but I will still say it. I love you, Caroline.
Goodbye!
Damon"
