𝒐. prologue
SHE RUBBED HER arms as she let the cool autumn air embrace her like the moon embraced the night. Supple pink flesh curled up in acknowledgement and grace as she refused a drink.
The wedding was in full swing, white lace tents were set up in the potters' lawn. The aisle was decorated with flowers and each one of their friends had their slots to welcome people at the door.
Alexis gazed back at the seating arrangement, letting out a chuckle when the house elves working with the potters came into view. Despite being pictured as the power couple, James and Lily were literally the most down to earth people she had come across. The house elves had smiles on their face and adoration in their eyes, from what she could see.
The moonlight lightened up the freckles on her skin as she moved along to take her seat in the second row. Alexis shifted her gaze to the priest, her calloused fingers playing with the lace of her dress to pass time.
It was a straight white dress with flower patches sewn here and there, the black jewels adorning the sleeves matched her curly hair. Alexis had fallen in love with the dress the moment she had seen it and had been working triple shifts to buy it.
She smiled faintly at the memory of her job, the past few days were hectic for everyone and as much as she loved the potters, she hadn't had time to do what she loved.
Alexis leaned foward absent mindedly, her trainers clad foot accidentally met the chair in front of her as she did. She shut her eyes, expecting the old rusky voice of an old resident but instead her ears were blessed with soft innocent words.
She opened her eyes slowly, chuckling at the small boy in front of her. The young boy had white skin and freckles decorating his skin, his blue eyes had lifted up from his donut to her the moment she had kicked his chair. Alexis vaguely wondered if she should apologize to him but she couldn't help but want to talk to children more.
She kept her voice softer than usual as she apologized, "hey big man, sorry?"
The boy glanced at her carefully, as if trying to memorize her face but then he hid his face in his mother's neck.
Alexis laughed softly, her eyes offering kindness that reminded many like the eyes of a child. She watched with confusion written on her face as the boy whispered something in the woman's ear. "W-what did he say?"
The woman turned to her, her white skin matching the one of her child's but unlike the boy's blue eyes, the woman had brown ones. She glanced at the boy in question, shaking her head fondly before answering alexis. "he said you're very beautiful and he wants you to be his girlfrie-oh alexis!"
It was then that alexis noticed the familiar motherly look on the woman. the familiar face of Alice Longbottom, who she hadn't seen in over four years. "You and frank? you guys had a child!?"
The sweet honey laugh of her former best friend filled her ears, making alexis' whole hogwarts life flash right before her eyes. "Shut up, allie! meet neville." At the mention of his name, neville seemed to gain more interest in the conversation. He turned to alexis shyly, his cheeks red as he offered her his donut. "hi al-alie."
The fireflies danced to the melodious tune coming through the phone, the love in the atmosphere reminding her of disney movies. Alexis held up her gown with her free hand as she watched the couples dance, in the afterparty.
Neville garbled happily in her arms as the two of them watched alice and frank spend the night in each other's arms. Frank was a sorted man, with tanned skin and mischievous thoughts. Alexis had always labeled as the cutest couple and they were. oh, they were.
"Madame," Sirius strutted over to them, extending a hand to alexis. The mischief is his eyes screamed that he was up to no good and the grin on his face only proved her assumption.
He brushed her hair behind her ear, the two of them holding eye contact for a mere second before they bursted out laughing. Alexis had always laughed at his flirting skills, something Sirius had frowned greatly upon until he started laughing at them too.
"Siriusly," Sirius paused to grin childishly at his own joke, his dimples showing as he laughed. "Care to dance with me?"
She rolled her eyes, though the movement of her lips turning away gave her facade away. Alexis was about to agree, wanting nothing more than to enjoy with her friends before her shop starts again until Neville laughed happily in her ear. "I am on babysitting duty-sorry, siri."
Neville was suddenly taken out of her hands and Alexis turned around to protect him but she relaxed when Alice's familiar soft chuckles reached her ears. She patted her shoulder, her voice soft and teasing as she spoke. "you are free now, my love."
Sirius wiggled her eyebrows and Alexis fake gagged, the friendship and love blooming in the tents was adored by the stars. The two of them walked with their arms entangled, towards the dance stage. The sweet voice of taylor swift flowed through the speakers as Sirius and Alexis danced like teenagers in a concert — a bright contrast to the other couples slow dancing.
"How are we even doing rock and roll on love story?" Alexis questioned, disbelief evident in her voice as he fist bumped her. Sirius yelled out the lyrics to the song, earning stares from Lily and lyrics from James.
Her wand was hidden away in her shoes and Alexis shivered everytime it brushed against her skin. She joined in on the fun, their voices echoing in the tent and quieting down the song.
"ROMEO, SAVE M-fuck, why!" Alexis whined sadly, her disagreement with the change of the song was apparently approved by James as he stomped. Sirius' grey eyes looked down at her, parting from her as he spinned her away. Rough hands gripped her waist as she looked up to her new partner.
Marlene mckinnon's dark blue eyes peirced in hers, her blonde hair were tied up in a messy bun. A flower crown was placed on her head, making her appear like the most precious human being ever. And maybe she was, Alexis thought. She knew Marlene as the girl who was a gangster in disguise, Marlene hadn't hesitated to roast anyone who even laid a finger on her loved ones.
Alexis' eyes grew wide as marlene gripped her waist and started swaying. The blonde chuckled at her expression, making Alexis' cheeks turn tint red. whistles were directed towards James and Lily as the raspy tone of watermelon sugar came through. Her daydream came to an end as Marlene laughed, the sound so ethereal that even angels would blush by the mere sound of it. "why are we playing i want your belly on a wedding?"
Alexis lips curled downwards, as if she had just tasted something sour. the crowd oooh'ed and marlene chuckled guiltily. The whole population of hogwarts knew that nobody could insult harry styles, in front of alexis carter and get away with it. Nobody usually did not include girls who looked like they had just descended from heaven and owned the galaxy.
"it's watermelon sugar and why are we inviting miss i hate everything made of sugar on a wedding?" she blurted out, ignoring the small encouragement that was yelled from sirius. "fuck, i am sorry. that was rude, i am sorry-"
Marlene smirked victoriously, her voice dripping in mischief as she replied. "calm down, love and .. there's this tradition of one of the bridesmaids and the best man sleeping together, you know-. ." Marlene teased, not even a tad bit ashamed. Alexis however was blushing profoundly, she was sure that her cheeks were redder than Lily's hair in that eternity.
The night was filled with laughs shared between friends and kisses between lovers, there were new beginnings for everyone. But for Alexis Carter, it was a magical beginning. For black and white marlene mckinnon had entered colorful alexis carter's life.
alexis is literally the best oc i have ever created, i love her soso much?????
