STEREOTYPES {RANT}
This honestly a topic that gets me so heated
I have a personal experience to go with this so here goes nothing.
This has honestly been all my life.
So a little backstory I live in a suburban house (not ashamed because my military dad was able to afford it so stfu) and most of the kids at my school are below the poverty line.
I always spoke differently then the other kids. I never liked using the word ain't, I used great grammar and I was also super smart (no I'm not bragging so stfu)
Kids always treated me differently back in kindergarten and I never thought of it until I got older (and then we got bigger that was the trigger).
When we got older the weird treatment just got worse and worse until one day a kid said blantanly to my face "You act soo white"
I was so confused and furious. How could he say I was acting white?
It stereotyping is honestly bad because it leaves a bad effect on the race. And when I tell you I was furious I was furious!
The kid was pretty much saying
• Only white people can live in a suburban house?
• Only white people can be incredibly smart in school?
• Only white people can speak properly?
• Only white people can like anything other than rap/hip hop?
• Only white people can have two loving parents?
I was so mad because it makes us black people look inferior to white people.
It paints the unpleasant photograph that African-Americans are supposed to eat fried chicken, live on Section 8, have terrible parents and not be educated!!!
I absolutely hate, hate ,hate stereotypes.
This honestly goes for more the just African-Americans it goes for Hispanics, native Americans, Indians, Mexicans, Latinos, gays and transgender
Everyone has the impression that they are all illegal, non English speaking, job stealers.
Everyone also has the impression that everyone in the LGBTQ+ community is sex hungered, devil loving, confused people.
That is absolutely the farthest you can get from the truth you can get!!
That's honestly why I'm so happy their are so many role models to look up to that completely obliterate stereotypes.
Viola Davis, Gina Rodriguez, Laverne Cox, Ellen Degeneres and Ruby Rose just to name a few.
Sorry if I pissed anyone off about this thing but I'm being completely honest and these are my opinions. I told y'all I'm outspoken as hell. Don't try and convince me in the comments that in wrong.
☆☆Your friendly, neighborhood caramel girl out!☆☆
