64: Taejinkook

"You look nervous."

Taehyung forced a smile upon hearing Jeongguk's remarks.

"I'm not." He denied as he walked silently beside the ravenette who eyed him intently.

The two of them were making their way down the hall of the luxurious condominium building where Jin is residing.

"Don't worry. I'm sure the two of you will get along just fine." Jeongguk smiled as he took Taehyung's hand and intertwined it with his own.

Taehyung couldn't help but smile as the warmth coming from Jeongguk's hand felt so reassuring...so calming.

They stopped in front of the unit in the farthest end of the corridor.

Jeongguk immediately rang the doorbell and not a minute went by when the door finally opened, revealing Jin in his casual clothes and yet still managed to look breathtakingly perfect in Taehyung's eyes.

"Hey hyung." Jeongguk uttered with a smile as he gave a hug to the older.

Taehyung would've greeted Jin as well but was halted when he saw the older staring intently at him.

He gulped, not understanding the kind of look Jin was giving him.

It's as if he's shocked...confused... or was it just in Taehyung's mind?

"Hyung, this is Taehyung."

Taehyung's train of thoughts was interrupted by Jeongguk's introduction of him. He immediately pushed the idea out of his mind as he stared at Jin's hand now waiting for him to take.

"Hey. Nice to finally meet you." Jin smiled, shaking Taehyung's hand.

"My pleasure." Taehyung politely smiled back.

"You're really beautiful just like what Jeongguk here is boasting about." Jin teased, making Jeongguk groan in embarrassment.

"Okay, that's enough introduction hyung. Here. We brought some snacks." Jeongguk handed the food to Jin which made the latter snicker.

"That's more like it." Jin grinned as he made way for the two to enter.

The interior of the condominium truly reflects the one occupying it. The furniture and appliances were neatly arranged in an elegant manner that matches the whole theme of the place.

Though this is the first time Taehyung had met Jin, he could say that the whole place screams "Jin" on it.

"Sorry for the sudden invitation, Taehyung. I was just really dying to meet you because you're all Jeongguk ever talks about." Jin chuckled as he guided both of them in the couch.

Taehyung side glanced Jeongguk and saw him smiling sheepishly at him. His adorable look made Taehyung smile as well.

"Well, I hope he's not saying bad things about me." He remarked, joining the teasing.

"I would never!" Jeongguk defended which made the two of them laugh. He looked so embarrassed, being teased by them.

"Don't get too worked up. I might get the wrong idea." Taehyung uttered, smiling naughtily at him.

"Uh-huh. You sound so defensive Jeon." Jin added which made Jeongguk groan.

"Ugh! Why do I feel like you're going to team up against me from now on." Jeongguk protested, wanting to regret his decision of letting the two meet.

The two laughed at Jeongguk's expense. This lifted up the awkwardness and stiffness in the atmosphere as the three of them spent time on the couch as they watched movies and talked about random things.

Taehyung learned that Jin is like Jeongguk's big brother. He had met him even before Namjoon and the rest of his friends. No wonder their bond is somewhat on a different scale.

"There was a time when Jeongguk got involved on a fight and his face was all messed up just because he thought the other guy was looking at him with sharp eyes." Jin laughed, remembering the ravenette's bruised face and swollen lips.

Taehyung laughed at this, imagining a young Jeongguk with a temper of a raging bull.

"So you're a gangster back then? I can only imagine." Taehyung uttered, voice laced with humor.

"I was 16 years old. Cut me some slack." Jeongguk protested.

"Yeah. He was in a rather rebellious phase. Well, that was before -"

"Hyung , we don't have drinks left. Do we still have some on the fridge?" Jeongguk interrupted as he stood.

They have been drinking and talking for hours now. Only empty beer cans and some chips were left on the table.

Taehyung glanced at Jeongguk and noticed that he's giving Jin quite a look. He darted his gaze on the older and realized that he also has a rather incomprehensible expression plastered on his face.

"Should we check?" Jeongguk suggested to which Jin immediately stood with him.

"I think I have some more left." Jin answered. He glanced at Taehyung and smiled before leaving, with Jeongguk following behind.

Taehyung sipped on the drink he's holding as he roamed his eyes around. There were beautiful paintings hanging on the wall that accentuate the cozy feeling in the living room.

"He has such a nice place." Taehyung murmured, appreciating the interior decorations. He was busy admiring the paintings when he suddenly felt the urge to visit the bathroom.

He looked around, trying to locate the bathroom but failed. It wouldn't be too nice to roam around someone's house, so he decided to ask Jin instead.

Taehyung went to follow the two in the kitchen. He saw Jeongguk's back facing his way and almost called out when he heard them talking or more like whispering.

There's something in the atmosphere between the two that tells him he shouldn't be interrupting.

He doesn't know why, but his body reacted on the situation and hid out of sight. From where he stood, he could barely hear their voices.

What's going on?

"I'm sorry. Okay? I thought you told him already." Jin murmured, voice apologetic.

Told who? What?

"I don't see any reason why I should tell him, hyung." Jeongguk uttered so low Taehyung almost didn't catch it.

Taehyung waited for Jin's response but he couldn't hear him clearly. It took him a while to decide and peek through an aperture and saw Jin handing the beer cans to Jeongguk.

He panicked, not wanting to be caught eavesdropping.

"Hey." Taehyung appeared from where he's hiding, acting as if he just arrived there and didn't hear anything at all.

"Tae.." Jeongguk muttered.

"Hey.. do you need anything? We're about to go back." Jin said in a rather calm manner that almost made Taehyung's brow arch.

"Yeah.. Could I use the bathroom?" Taehyung asked with a smile.

"Of course. Right side." Jin pointed to which Taehyung nodded.

"Thanks." He smiled as he made his way to the bathroom.

As soon as he went inside and closed the door, Taehyung couldn't help but think of the conversation he has heard.

Are they talking about him?

Taehyung stared at his reflection in the mirror. There's nothing really wrong about Jeongguk and Jin talking in secrecy.

Maybe he's just being an overthinker which is something he's not.

Why would he bother himself with something he's unsure of?

Taehyung shrugged the idea off his mind. He just happened to hear something he shouldn't have. He's not even sure if the conversation is about him or not.

He sighed, not wanting to spoil the mood. He went ahead and did his business in the bathroom before going back to the living room where Jin and Jeongguk are now happily conversing.

A different mood from what he witnessed in the kitchen.

He saw Jin look his way with a smile.

"Did you find your way?" He asked.

"Yes. Thank you." He responded as he took the spot next to the ravenette. He stared at the can on the latter's hand and commented.

"You shouldn't drink too muck, Jeongguk. You're driving later, right?"

"Don't worry. I haven't really been drinking much." Jeongguk assured.

"You can just spend the night here." Jin offered but Taehyung found himself declining the offer.

"That's nice of you, but I promised Jimin I'll come home." Taehyung answered.

He looked at Jeongguk and even though he doesn't want to, his mind was reminded of the conversation earlier.

"If Jeongguk wants to stay, though...then I'll just go home on my own." He added, glancing away from the ravenette who looked at him.

"That's not even an option, Tae. I'll drive you home of course." Jeongguk uttered.

He looked at Taehyung and sensed something off.

"Are you okay? Do you want to go home?" He asked, concern written all over his face.

Taehyung smiled apologetically to Jeongguk and Jin.

"Actually... I got a call from the office. They asked me to rush and pass the article I'm working on by tonight.. so.." He trailed off, wanting Jeongguk to get the hint.

"We should get going, then." Jeongguk said, standing from the couch with him.

"I'm sorry." Taehyung uttered as he went closer to Jin to say goodbye.

"It's okay. You're welcome here anytime. Have Jimin come with you next time." Jin winked, making Taehyung feel even more sorry than he already is.

This man is no doubt an angel.

While here he is, thinking of negative things and even making up a lie just to get out of that place.

He doesn't even know why he's acting so stupid just because of the scene he witnessed earlier.

"I'm really sorry. I'll take your offer and come again." He said as he went by the door, with Jeongguk following behind.

"Drive safely." Jin reminded the ravenette who nodded and gave him a hug before finally leaving.

On their way out, Taehyung felt Jeongguk's hand on his own, intertwining their fingers together.

"You good?" He asked, searching his face for answer.

"Yeah. Sorry if my work always gets in the way." He uttered, looking anywhere but the ravenette.

"It's okay. I'm really glad I get to spend time with you and Jin-hyung." Jeongguk smiled, the kind of smile that only made Taehyung feel even more stupid.

What the hell is wrong with him? He's not someone who's easily bothered by anything. Why is he getting so worked up by something that doesn't even concern him?

"Thank you for coming with me Tae." Jeongguk uttered, suddenly leaning closer and planting a soft kiss on Taehyung's forehead which completely surprised him.

"I really enjoyed it." Jeongguk added, torturing Taehyung's conscience.

"Me too." He sighed, wanting to go home to finally beat some sense out of himself.
