The Treat's Result

  Somehow she wasn't expecting to be practically pulled out of bed on the morning of Halloween. From the instance she got up, (f/n) was told to quickly get dressed and eat breakfast by Edgar. He left after making such orders. She could only presume that he was heading to his workshop. Still, the fact that she had a breakfast tray in her room did indicate the need for hurrying. So, she changed into a loose purple shirt, black skinny jeans and her typical black flip-flops.

After doing so, she speedily consumed her breakfast and left her room. She headed to Edgar's workshop only to have him telling her to get various items on the spot. Asking no questions, she did as she was told and handed him the various items. On multiple occasions, when she handed him what he needed, she took notice of the long list of orders placed for today. No wonder he was in such a hurry. There were about twenty orders on the sheet of paper that needed to get done, and usually there were only five at the most.

"When did you receive all of these orders, Edgar?" she asked, as she handed him a purple ribbon.

"This morning, one of the workers from the store called. They stated that things had sold very quickly this morning and that they needed replacements. This happened last year as well, but I always seem to forget to make extras in the case of such an event," he replied, while taking the ribbon and tying it around a stuffed animal cat. He next asked for a small bell.

She handed it to him, after retrieving it. He attached it to the bow of the ribbon and continued to ask for various things. It would seem that her surprise would have to wait. (F/n) could be patient, though, since Edgar was incredibly busy at the moment.

When late afternoon approached, Edgar finished with the multitude of toys and headed out of the room. He stated that he would be back soon, as he headed probably for the car to go to the store. She merely nodded in response, as she went over to the bench and sat down. Her feet needed a break from standing, since she hadn't sat down since the morning. This was due to the fact that Edgar would require something within short spans of time, so it would've been more work to keep sitting down only to get up a few minutes later.

Leaning her back against the window frame, she closed her eyes and relaxed a bit. She hadn't expected to fall asleep, however. So, she was surprised to find herself being woken up by Edgar. (F/n) blinked a few times before she stated, "I didn't mean to fall asleep. I guess that I didn't realize how tired I was."

"It's fine. I had you running back and forth for most of the day. Now, do you still have the energy for your surprise, though?" Edgar questioned, as he placed his hands in the pockets of his black pants. His dark brown locks weren't tied up but hung loosely down to his shoulders. He had on his brown v-neck with the sheer brown fabric underneath. There were black tennis shoes on his feet.

Smiling, she responded, "Yeah, I'm still up for it. Still, why did you make the deliveries? Usually, you just take the stock notes at night, but you never go during the day. You typically have one of the house staff take the toys to the store."

"I make special deliveries on the holidays. The workers there don't suspect me as the owner, since they assume the owner is my brother. Besides, do I look to be dressed as the owner of a famous company? They wouldn't suspect a thing, and the card, which I showed you when we first met, has deliveries written on it to. It's just in fine print and in the bottom right-hand corner of the card. Regardless, I need to show you your treat," he uttered, turning on his heel and heading for the workshop door.

Following after him, she left the workshop with him. She closed the door after she stepped out and saw that he was walking towards the front doors of the house. Perhaps, it was something in the garden that he had set up. Surprisingly, though, they didn't go towards the forest, which hid the garden. Instead, they were walking towards the car.

"Are we going into town, Edgar?" she inquired, as he stopped in front of the backdoor on the right side of the car. He proceeded to open the door, and he signaled her to enter.

"I'm not going into town. You are. You can choose one place where you want to go, and Lowell will take you there. Once you arrive at the destination, you can spend however long you like inside. After you're done, Lowell will drive you back here."

Processing the information through her mind, she stared at him for a moment before nearly jumping in excitement. Not being able to control her glee, she unexpectedly wrapped her arms around Edgar's waist. The male tensed for less than a second at the contact before he smiled and rested his hands on her shoulders. He pushed her back a little, so he could meet her gaze.

"Just be careful," he voiced with a slightly serious tone.

"Edgar, I think that you forget that I managed to take of myself long before I met you. Don't worry, I'll be alright," she replied, a childish grin decorating her lips. She removed her arms from him and headed into the car after Edgar had moved his hands to his sides.

In response to this, Edgar sighed before he smiled a little bit. Before he let her go, though, he grabbed her right wrist with his left hand. He pulled her back until he was in reach to place his lips gently against hers. Within the next second, he released her and motioned for her to get in the car again. A faint tint of red highlighted her cheeks, as she took a seat in the vehicle.

He closed the car door for her, and Lowell drove off. Resting his hands in his pants' pockets, he hoped that he hadn't made a mistake. It was hard to see her driving off and away from him. Part of him wanted to run after the car, but he restrained himself. Of course, there was a second car in the garage that he could take; he could follow her. Still, he felt it would be alright to give her this freedom. Besides, it's not like she would be receiving it another time in the near future. Edgar couldn't let the restraints go too many times.

Once the car was out of his sight, he headed back towards the house. He would wait until she came back. In the meantime he would relax in the living room and watch some television. Granted, he rarely did this, but he figured it would get his mind off his beloved for some time. Worrying would only cause him to go after her, and he needed every ounce of her trust. Permitting her into town on her own would gain him that trust.

                                                                                  ~~~~~~~~~~
Arriving in town, she told Lowell to just drive by her old apartment. He did as she requested, and to her surprise she saw that someone else was already occupying the space, since she noticed a figure moving around inside. It was somewhat saddening to know that her old home was now officially no longer hers. Granted, she didn't know when Edgar had managed to sell her place, but Lowell seemed to read her suspicions.
"Sir Delanas sold it a week after you moved in. The money made off the sell was put into the bank account that Sir Delanas set up for you. Now, where would you like to go?" he questioned, as he drove past her old home.
"I see. Well, I suppose that was for the best then," she mumbled to herself. At least he had put the money in her bank account. Granted, he did create a new one for her. If she asked him about the account, he would probably mention that it was for convenience's sake. She did suppose that she still had her old account as well. Regardless, she added, "I guess that I would like to go to the theater. I haven't seen a movie in awhile."
Lowell merely nodded in response, and he drove to the cinema. It only took about five minutes to get there. He handed her an envelope, which he stated had some money for her in it as a courtesy of Sir Delanas. She thanked him before stepping out of the car and heading inside the building. Frankly, she had no idea what movies were out at the moment. Working for Edgar seemed to isolate her from the world, but she figured that she was working at her dream job. So, she didn't mind the trade-off too much.
Regardless, she looked over the movie titles and decided to go with a horror one. It was Halloween after all. Buying a ticket, she went into the theater and ordered a pumpkin spice coffee. To add to this, she bought two chocolate cookies that had orange colored chocolates in them. With her food in hand, she went off to the proper room in the theater.
Taking her seat, she placed her drink in the chair's cup holder and relaxed in her seat. Thankfully, the theater wasn't too crowded much to her surprise. Moreover, she had arrived close to when the movie was about to start, so she didn't have to wait for too long. Once it started to play, she began to eat her snack.
Despite the fact that the movie was terrifying at certain points, she found herself on several occasions trying to talk to someone that wasn't there. Apparently, she had grown so accustomed to being around Edgar that she had forgotten that he wasn't there with her. Still, she appreciated the fact that he had given her this night to herself. She had requested such time, and now she had it. So, she figured that she should just enjoy it. Besides, she didn't know when she would receive an opportunity like this again, but at the same time she wondered if she desired to have such time again. Maybe, once was enough.
