ORIGIN STORY:
Vivienne Salvatore was born in 1848, and is the illegitimate child of Lily Salvatore and a member of the Lockwood family, conceived during an affair. Her mother's husband, Giuseppe Salvatore, was aware of the affair but chose to raise Vivienne as his own. However, Giuseppe's resentment of Vivienne's existence manifested into cruelty, and he frequently beat her as a child. Her half-brothers, Stefan and Damon, rarely intervened, in fear of retaliation.
Over time, the isolation and pain from her abusive childhood left her bitter toward both of her brothers, who she believed hadn't done enough to protect her.
In 1866, Vivienne contracted consumption (tuberculosis), much like her mother, Lily. Desperate to save his sister, Stefan made an unthinkable choice—secretly injecting her with his blood while she lay on her deathbed.
When she woke up in transition, Stefan urged her to complete the transition, unable to face life without her. Reluctantly, and against everything she believed in, she succumbed to her thirst, drinking human blood and sealing her fate as a vampire.
Furious and betrayed, Vivienne turned her back on Stefan, unable to forgive him for condemning her to a life she had never wanted. For decades, she harboured a bitterness that ran deep, her relationship with Stefan fractured beyond repair.
In her eyes, he hadn't saved her—he had stolen her final choice, forcing her into a life she despised.
SPIRITUAL GIFT
From a young age, Vivienne exhibited a unique sensitivity to the supernatural. Unlike her brothers, who were immersed in the world of vampire politics and power struggles, Vivienne was attuned to the ethereal realm. This gift manifested early in her childhood, allowing her to see and communicate with spirits. As a little girl, she often found herself in the company of lost souls, offering comfort and solace to those who lingered between worlds.
This connection to the spirit world is rooted in her family's history and the hidden legacy of her maternal lineage. a traumatic even may have awakened dormant abilities in Vivienne, a trait passed down through generations. Such gifts often skip generations, surfacing unpredictably in those with strong emotional ties to their ancestry.
Vivienne's abilities were both a blessing and a curse. While they allowed her to offer guidance and understand the struggles of the departed, they also isolated her from her peers, who often viewed her as an outcast or eccentric. Growing up in an environment filled with abuse and neglect only heightened her connection to the spirit world, as the souls of those who had suffered similarly sought her out for comfort and connection.
As she matured into a vampire, her abilities intensified. Immortality heightened her connection to the spirit realm, allowing her to perceive not only the ghosts of the deceased but also the emotional echoes left behind by trauma and loss. However, the trauma of her past—caused her to shut off parts of herself, including her gift.
Although, growing up with her unique ability, it marked her childhood with more hardship, as her stepfather believed her claims of seeing spirits were signs of madness. Whenever she spoke about her gift, he responded by having her committed to mental institutions, convinced his stepdaughter was "crazy." This traumatic experience left Vivienne with scars—emotional and physical—and a deep mistrust of people who dismiss what they don't understand.
VIVIENNE'S ROLE IN THE SERIES
Vivienne's story began at the infamous masquerade ball, where she emerged as Katherine Pierce's unexpected ally. Despite her deep-seated disdain for Katherine, Vivienne owed her a life debt from decades ago when Katherine saved her under circumstances Vivienne would rather forget. To secure Vivienne's cooperation and safeguard her own life, Katherine cleverly linked herself to Vivienne—meaning if Katherine died, so did Vivienne. Bound by the deadly link, Vivienne aided Katherine's mission to retrieve the moonstone from her brothers.
Later, Vivienne struck a deal with Lucy Bennett working with Katherine, who agreed to unlink her from Katherine. In a powerful turn of events, Vivienne teamed up with the witch to finally imprison Katherine in the tomb where she always belonged, ending her alliance with the vampire once and for all.
Vivienne quickly became fast friends with Elena. She also bonded deeply with Tyler Lockwood after discovering they were distant relatives through her biological father's bloodline. Vivienne supported Tyler through his transformation into a werewolf, guiding him through each painful transition and becoming his anchor in a time of turmoil.
When the Originals come to town, Vivienne's past with the Mikaelson family was revealed. After Elijah was daggered by Alaric, Vivienne's memories resurfaced, recalling a friendship with Kol Mikaelson from the early 1900s. When Kol was resurrected, Vivienne's bond with him rekindled, much to her brothers' dismay, as Kol's rebellious influence led her down a path of mischief and recklessness. Vivienne even helped Kol prevent Elena and Damon from discovering the origins of their sireline.
Kol's eventual death devastated Vivienne, sending her into a downward spiral of grief. Teetering on the brink of shutting off her humanity, it was surprisingly Klaus who pulled her back, grounding her and preventing her from losing herself entirely. The fallout strained her friendships in Mystic Falls, especially with Elena, and ultimately fractured her bond with her own brothers once again.
Feeling more understood by the Mikaelsons, Vivienne chose to join Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah in New Orleans. There, she found a place with the Mikaelson family, who had consistently shown they care for her in ways her own family often hadn't, cementing her loyalty to them as she built a new life in their world.

THE DEDICATED BROTHER
"The love of my life was human. A rare soul, unafraid of loving fiercely, even in a world he barely understood. He saw all my darkness and chose to stay, to believe there was light in me worth fighting for. Loving him was...like coming home, even when everything around us was broken. Sometimes, Elena, it's the ones with fragile hearts who teach us what strength really is."

ORIGIN STORY:
Nico St. John was just a baby when tragedy struck his family, leaving him and his older brother, Enzo, orphaned. Following the death of their parents, they were placed in an orphanage, where their paths diverged. By the age of four, he was forced into the workhouses.
But then one day, Nico was separated him from his older brother, Enzo. The two boys had been wandering the dusty streets, hands tightly clasped in the only sense of security they had known. They lived day to day, relying on each other in a world that often felt cold and unforgiving.
Then, a wealthy couple looking to adopt found the boys wandering alone. Their eyes fell on Nico—a small, hopeful face among the hardship. They offered him a life of luxury and opportunity, one he had never imagined, yet Nico hesitated. His heart ached at the thought of leaving Enzo, who was not chosen. But Enzo encouraged him, knowing it was Nico's best chance at a future far from the hunger and uncertainty they faced together.
Though Nico was brought into a world of privilege, he never forgot the brother who had once been his whole world. He spent his childhood and early adulthood burdened with a sense of incompleteness and an unwavering determination to find Enzo. And despite his family's disapproval, Nico devoted every resource he could to searching for Enzo.
The privilege and wealth Nico grew up with never filled the void his brother's absence left behind. Driven by a powerful love and loyalty, Nico's journey became more than just a search—it became his life's purpose.
In the early 1900s, Nico St. John's search for his older brother, Enzo, brought him to the heart of New York City. Though, every lead seemed to bring him back to the same dead end—until he met Lexi Branson.
Lexi was an enigmatic and compassionate vampire who, despite her own reservations about forming close human bonds, was captivated by Nico's fierce loyalty and resilience. She sensed there was something different about him—an unbreakable strength—and it drew her in. Nico, though usually guarded, found himself sharing the story of his brother, and how he would do anything to reunite with him. Lexi was moved by his story, and soon, she was as invested in the search alongside Nico.
After months of tracking down every possible lead, they finally discovered a clue that would change everything. News of Enzo's fate reached them through an old contact of Lexi's—a tale of a man who had boarded a ship bound for Europe in 1903 and never returned. They learned he had been turned into a vampire against his will on the journey, his life forever altered. Nico was devastated, grappling with the realisation that his brother was no longer human. Yet, the discovery only deepened his resolve to find Enzo, no matter what it took.
Lexi, seeing the toll the search was taking on him, made him an offer: she could turn him into a vampire. As one of them, Nico would be able to track his brother more effectively, with the time and strength needed to follow any lead. Though initially hesitant, Nico knew that if he wanted to see his brother again, he'd need to make the same choice Enzo had been forced into. He agreed, trusting Lexi to guide him through the transition.
On a quiet night under a sky full of stars, Lexi turned Nico. As he awoke with new strength and heightened senses, the world felt larger, more vivid, and he was filled with renewed purpose. Lexi helped him adjust, becoming his closest confidant and his strongest ally as they resumed the search for Enzo. Over the years, their partnership blossomed into something more, a profound love built on trust, shared adventures, and an understanding of each other's deepest hopes and fears.
Though they chased countless rumours, they were unable to locate Enzo. Eventually, the trail went cold, leaving Nico heartbroken yet determined to continue. But fate had other plans, and in the 1960s, Nico was tragically killed, never able to fulfil his quest. Lexi was left devastated, her heart shattered by the loss of the man she had come to love deeply. She carried his memory with her, holding onto the fierce devotion he'd shown for his brother—a reminder of the lengths one would go for family. And though she moved forward, Nico remained a lasting part of her, a testament to the enduring power of loyalty, love, and the unyielding hope of reunion.

I hope this explains everything you need to know about Viv and her life. Although, throughout this I hope to use flashbacks to explain her life and relationships in Mystic Falls before she moved to New Orleans with Klaus. But if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
I do think I should mention this though, even though it might not be correct or others might have another opinion on this topic, in my book, yes, Viv did have the werewolf gene as her father was a Lockwood, but she hadn't triggered the curse, leaving her to be human when Stefan turned her into a vampire, therefore her werewolf gene disappeared, and she was unable to activate it when she killed her first victim, because she was turned in the normal way and not with a spell like Klaus was. I hope this explains it right.
This will be the lore in my story, even if it is correct or not. Please stay respectful in the comments, but polite discussion is of course welcome.
