Fears of A Father
EMMA'S POV
I sighed as I picked up the plates from the dinner table and put them in the sink.
My mind was swirling in a million directions. Grace? Pregnant? Henry? A father? It feels like just yesterday he came to my door claiming that I was the Savior. He was so small, only a kid. And here he is, married, and about to have a child.
I leaned both my hand at the edge of the counter and shook my head.
"You alright?" Asked that deep, husky Irish accent that I knew.
I spun around and saw Killian with his black sweat pants and his old white t-shirt.
I leaned against the counter and crossed my arms as I looked down,
"Nothing. Just, thinking"
"About Henry, I presume" he said pouring himself a glass of water.
I nodded still looking down. Silence filled the room for a few second before I spoke up.
"Were you scared?" I asked picking my head up to look at him, "When you found out about Annabelle?"
He flicked his tongue out over his bottom lip, "Yes, why?"
I sighed, "because, Henry is going through the same thing right now. And I can't help him because, I don't know how he's feeling"
He took a sip from the water, "perhaps, I could talk to him" he offered.
"You'd do that?" I asked softly.
He smiled and nodded slowly, "I know how he's feeling"
"Thank you" I smiled softly and walked closer to him. I rested my head on his chest and wrapped my arms around him.
I looked up at him, "why were you scared?"
He looked down at me and smiled slightly, "I had never been a father before. And there's this fear that takes over you. And you think to yourself, "what am I going to do with a child? How is this in any way helping her?" Sometimes you feel like you just want to run, but then you remember your wife, and how much she needs you at this moment. And you think about how this is much worse on her than it is on you. You think like this for the rest of the nine months" he paused for a minute and drank the rest of the water.
"Then, the babe is finally on it's way. And you put that fear aside, you focus on helping your wife get through this, making sure she's not alone. After the baby's here, the fear of how in hell are you going to raise this child comes. But you eventually forget that."
He was looking into blank space at this point. Like he's trying to remember what it felt like.
"You really felt like that?" I asked searching for his gaze.
He looked at me and smiled softly, "Aye. But it was worth it, we have Annabelle"
"So, that's how Henry's feeling" I sighed and dropped my head on his chest again.
"He'll find a way, love" he smiled, "he's strong like his mother"
I smiled and picked up my head and brushed my lips over his in a lustful kiss.
He pulled away after a little while but still held her close as he pressed her forehead against his.
"What would I do without you?" She whispered and looked into his eyes.
"I don't know. But I'm here, so you don't need to worry" he smiled softly and looked back into her forest green eyes.
He kissed her again, enjoying the moment. They don't get a lot of time together. Between stoping Pan and handling Annabelle's powers, they don't have a lot of time for kissing.
So he genuinely enjoyed this moment. His lips on hers felt like heaven so they stayed liked that for a while before finally going off to bed.
