Maple Leaf
"Watch your step," Juliet warned Emma as they walked around the forest trail. Juliet had a hockey stick in hand as she walked. She had her blonde hair in a ponytail and kept her eyes hidden behind a pair of black sunglasses.
Emma looked at her 2p with both curiosity and fear. She sure is something, Emma thought as she put a strand of her hair behind her ear. I don't know what to think of her.
Just as they were walking, Juliet came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the trail, causing Emma to stop right behind her.
"What's wrong?" Emma asked.
Juliet gave her no response as she put her hockey stick out right in front of the both of them. Just as it touched the ground, there was a loud snap and then the hockey stick had a bear trap on it. Emma gasped as Juliet removed the trap with ease off the hockey stick. "Just as I thought," Juliet said as she inspected the stick. "Pa's put up traps to catch poachers, or us."
"He catches poachers?" Emma raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Yep. He has a big problem with them and one day decided to start setting up traps for them like they do to catch animals. Karma is a cruel thing indeed."
I didn't think Pa's 2p would do something so nice to animals, Emma thought. Then again, he's not that nice to the poachers if he puts out traps like this, eh?
"Stay really close," Juliet warned as she began walking again. Emma stayed right behind her as the two walked.
As they walked, Juliet made sure she looked everywhere for traps. During the walk, Juliet sprung three more traps that were set up by her Dad. The more she sprung, the closer she knew she and Emma were getting to her Dad.
Soon, Juliet spotted her Dad from atop a hill. His back was to her and Emma and all his focus was on a hockey goal with a stuffed dummy inside. With a hockey stick in hand and pucks at his feet, Matt focused on the dummy. He then shot the hockey pucks at the dummy and caused it to become all torn and destroyed in a matter of seconds.
"Wow, he's really good," Emma whispered.
"Yeah," Juliet muttered. "That is until he aims those hockey pucks at us. Now remember, he's not gonna be afraid to fight you."
Emma nodded as she looked down the hill. I just want my Pa back, Emma thought as she watched Matt.
As they watched, something felt a off to Juliet, like something was missing. Then she noticed that Kuma was missing. Where is that big polar bear? Juliet questioned. Then she heard growling right behind her. Her and Emma turned to see Kuma right behind them, growling at them with his teeth bearing. "N-Nice Kuma," Juliet stuttered.
Kuma then jumped on top of the two girls and rolled with them down to the bottom of the hill. When they got there, Kuma was on top of the two girls. Then he started licking Juliet in the face, making Juliet giggle. "Hi buddy," Juliet giggled as Kuma licked Juliet's sunglasses off her face. "I know Kuma, I missed you too. You don't need to lick me so much though."
"Well, well, what have we got here?" Matt walked over to the two girls and looked down at them with a smirk. "Seems like you caught the two girls I was looking for Kuma." Matt then leans against a tree. "So why are you both here? I thought I was gonna have to hunt you both down."
"...We came to get my Pa back," Emma spoke.
Matt laughed. "That's rich. Hate to tell you kid, but Canada ain't coming back. He's gone."
Emma began to shake in fear. He's lying! He has to be! "No! You're lying! Pa is still there! I know he can hear me!" Emma tried to free herself from Kuma's grasp, but found it impossible. "Pa, I know you can hear me. Please come back! It's your little maple leaf. I need you! I love you!" Tears slid down Emma's cheeks.
"Now isn't that sweet? Too bad he can't hear you."
Oh how wrong Matt was. Canada heard the whole thing, especially the plea from his daughter. That's what got him out of the sort-of frozen state that he was left in. Emma, Canada spoke. My little maple leaf needs me. Canada then tried to gain control, causing Matt to sink to his knees.
"Dang it!" Matt growled as he got a splitting headache.
"Is Pa fighting for control?" Emma questioned.
"That must be it," Juliet concluded. She then reached for the bottle that was tied around her hip. She opened the bottle of dust and then threw it at Matt, causing a dust cloud to form and make everyone cough, even Kuma.
When it settled, Kuma was no longer on top of Emma and Juliet. In fact, there were two of him; a smaller one, and the bigger one. "Kumajiro!" Emma cried as she ran over to the smaller one and hugged him. "I was wondering where you were."
The bear looked at Emma before turning his head. "Who are you?" He asked.
"I'm Emma," Emma sighed as she lowered her head in disappointment.
Juliet sat up before looking over at where Matt was. She then gasped when she saw that her Dad and Canada were now separated from each other. "Pa!" Emma ran towards her Dad as he was sitting up and tackled him in a hug. "I'm so glad your back!"
"Emma," Canada smiled softly at Emma before hugging her back. "I can hold you again."
Emma giggled as she hugged her Dad.
That's when Matt began to stir. He was about to get up and deal with Canada and Emma when Juliet grabbed him by his arm. He looked down at Juliet in confusion. "Pa, this is stupid," Juliet spoke. "Why are you following Luciano's orders? We should just go home and not deal with these losers."
Canada heard this and put his head down in shame. "Loser?" He muttered.
Emma patted her Dad's back. "It's okay Pa," Emma comforted. "I don't think you're a loser."
"You're right Jule," Matt agreed as a portal opened up. "Luciano can do this crap all he likes. Let's go home and practice on your hockey swing."
Juliet nodded as she followed Matt into the portal with Kuma trotting behind them. Soon, the portal disappeared and the two 2Ps and polar bear along with it.
Canada was confused but relieved at the same time because he was with his little maple leaf again.
