Chapter Twenty-nine 

what the hell is he doing here? 

3rd person pov 

they all sat outside of the burned down chateau together, canyon leaned her head on popes shoulder as they stared at the house together 

"Could've been a faulty electrical wire" pope stated 

"I wish but I don't think it was" she said and kiara nodded in agreement

"The place was all wood. A tinderbox. Thing just went up. Boom" kiara said. 

"Verdicts in, bro. Whoever's up there does not like you. Sorry." jj claimed

"Sarah, when did you say the pilot was getting in?" john b asked

"Probably like an hour? I mean, once he's here, my dad says we can leave whenever we want." sarah stated

" Okay, well, as much as I would love to ghost my parents again, I can't" pope said and canyon nodded

"I cant either, I told them that I would come home. i cant ditch them again" canyon exclaimed and jj stared at her 

"canyon we're talking el dorado here. can't you just slip out the back maybe?" jj asked 

"great advice" kiara said 

"it always worked for me, how to avoid unpleasant circumstances 101. there's a problem,  you don't want to face it, turn that face and keister around and walk away" jj said and canyon smacked her forehead 

"I'm not doing that" pope said 

"I just want you to be there dog" jj stated and canyon made eye contact with kiara and then cleo as all three of them laughed and shook their head. 

"I'm gonna be there. ill meet you guys at the airstrip in an hour?" pope asked 

"yeah, see you there" john b agreed 

"okay one hour pope, not a second later" jj said and canyon got up with cleo and pope making kiara, jj, sarah and john b stare at them 

"doctor.moon, where might you be going?" jj called to her and she laughed as she shook her head and turned to him again. 

"my mom and dad need to know jj, they just want  me to be safe and I cant keep running off without telling them where I'm going or what I'm doing. i need to keep a good relationship" she stated 

"its molly and jackson, they'll live" jj stated and canyon sighed. 

"jj, come on. its molly and jackson, you know how they are even with you. I'm their daughter, I'm leaving with cleo and pope but I will be back with pope in an hour I swear and if I'm not, when I get here, you can give me the longest story about betrayal and anger and how I didn't keep a promise yeah?" she said and jj pointed his finger at you 

"ill hold you to it, hey tell molly and jackson I love them for me" he said and she smiled 

"you're like their son, they know but ill tell them j" she exclaimed and he inhaled. he's like their son, he had never heard it said before but now that he heard it, he felt so accepted and like everything was going to be okay, maybe it wasn't but knowing that they loved him like a son was enough for him to feel okay and better about himself and life. 

she walked off and went home as she walked into the house and then she walked outside seeing molly and jackson with the stardust and blue making her smile and shake her head. they looked so young and happy, they reminded her of sarah and john b in every good way possible. 

"mom, dad" she called to them and they turned with smiles on their faces making her smile too. she walked over and hugged them before she looked in their eyes 

"can we talk?" she asked them and they nodded as they walked and sat down with her. 

"big john is alive, I'm sure you know but he got kidnapped and taken to south America. and I know I said that I would stop leaving and running without telling you and that's what I'm doing. I'm leaving because I have to do this for them. they're my friends and my family and you are too but..." she led off and they sighed. molly grabbed her face and smiled at her 

"I'm so proud of you for knowing what you want and going after it. you can always come to us, and we understand. if you want to leave and run, that's okay but be safe and come back home to us. we just want you to come home" molly told her and she turned to jackson 

"dad?" she asked and he smiled as he hugged her and she hugged him back 

"I'm so proud of you, this is how we raised you. this is who you are and that's okay with us. go save him and go do what you need to" he told her and she smiled as she hugged them one last time and then she turned to stardust and blue. 

"take care of them for me?" she asked and they nodded. 

"oh and jj says he loves you and wants to thank you for being the mom and dad he never had" she added on the last part making molly and jackson smile sadly. 

"always" they told her and she left the house as she went to the landing strip and she saw sarah with john b and jj. but cleo and pope weren't there yet and they turned to canyon 

"howd it go?" jj asked 

"in the clear" she said and then she heard the sound of a bike to see pope and cleo coming towards them 

"wheres kie?" pope asked and canyon looked around 

"I don't know, it must be her parents, they've been up her ass" sarah said and pope spoke up 

"they must've said she couldn't come, we're gonna have to do this without her" pope said and canyon shook her head 

"no, give me the keys right now. her parents already hate me, just give me an hour" jj said and he got in the twinkie as he drove off. they waited on the stairs of the plane for jj and kie to show up only for topper to drive in and get out of his car

"oh god" sarah said and canyon stood next to her. 

"hey sarah, what are you doing? you just seeing john b off or what?" he asked and canyon scoffed as she walked back over to pope and cleo sitting down as she watched them with the others.  

"hey top, you got a little something right here man" pope said and canyon laughed 

"why don't you shut up?" he asked and canyon stood up as she walked over to topper with a determined look on her face. but she didn't say anything 

"I heard they're remoteling the chateau, that's tough man, how did that happen?" topper said and canyon pushed him down on the ground as she punched him. 

"maybe that'll teach you to not stalk a girl who wants nothing to fucking do with you and oh maybe NOT BURN SOMEONES HOUSE DOWN" she said and he got up as he walked away with his jaw dropped. he got in his car and drove off

"that was a type of aggression I've never seen from you" john b said and she shrugged as she ran her thumb over her knuckles and sighed. it got dark real fast and rafe came to them with ward. 

"what the hell is he doing here?" canyon asked and she stood off on the side with the others before she sighed. 

"we have to do this" she told them and they all nodded as they got on the plane with ward and rafe left. 

now all they had to do was go but would it be that easy?
