Chapter Sixteen

what happened was supposed to happen, it wasn't a mistake 

3rd Person POV

canyon was with the others the next morning at the chateau, no Sarah in sight but she sat with jj, pope and kiara as they sat there and they talked to each other. 

canyon held popes hand as they smiled at each other and sighed. even though john b wasn't there, they were happy with each other. soon after pope said something to jj about his wax, there was the sound of a car honking and they all turned to see the twinkie 

"you're fucking lying" canyon said as they all stood up and walked to him 

"guess whos out of the clink boy" john b said as he parked the twinkie and hoped out. they all ran to him and hugged him 

"howd you do it? you bust out?" jj asked 

"uh they dropped the charges" he told them

"now that's some crazy shit right there" canyon stated and he nodded in agreement before jj spoke up 

"so I did all of that for nothing?" he said and canyon turned her head to him 

"all of that? j I need you to be serious" canyon exclaimed and he nudged her as she nudged him back and then john b spoke up 

"wait guys wheres sarah?" john b asked and canyon sighed 

"she went to go meet wheezie last night but she didn't come back" canyon stated and john b sighed. they walked down to the dock and sat there talking to each other but canyon and pope stayed back  

"so last night" canyon began and pope nodded with a sigh

"it shouldn't have happened,I know Im sorry. we can still be friends and act like it didn't happen" he said so fast and she stared at the boy in shock. that's not what she wanted, was that what he wanted? 

"is that what you want?" she asked and he looked at her quickly. he didn't know whether to be honest or lie to the girl. this was too hard for him. 

"if that's what you want" he stated and she shook her head 

"that's not what i want pope, what happened was supposed to happen, it wasn't a mistake. i wanted it to happen" she told him and he smiled. he didn't feel dejected or hurt, the smile on his face was so clear that she knew everything he was thinking. 

"you don't regret it?" he asked and she shook her head. she grabbed his face and made him look in her eyes. 

"i have loved you for so long pope and i want you to know that i don't regret last night at all and i want you to know that" she stated and he leaned in as he kissed the girl. it was interrupted when jj ran over with kiara 

"pope!pope! just got a call from guffy, something happened to your pops" jj said and they all looked at each other. they ran to the twinkie and got in as they rode to heywards shop. they all got out together, canyon grabbed her bag from the backseat as they all walked over to heyward. 

"canyon sweetheart, please tell me you have those bandaids" heyward asked and canyon nodded as she held up the bag.

"of course i do, who do you think i am" she asked and he laughed as she stared to patch up his wounds. she wiped the blood off of him and patched up the cut as pope began to talk to him.  canyon didn't listen, she focused on heyward and his wounds. 

"tell me if I'm hurting you" the girl said to him and he smiled at her 

"you're doing just fine honey" he said and she smiled at him as she finished bandaging him up. no one questioned why or how she knew to clean the wounds and fix everything, maybe they didn't have to question. maybe they already knew. 

she heard pope ask what happened and he told them as she continued. she felt eyes on her and she turned to see pope looking at her 

"all right, I am all done" canyon stated as she backed away and heyward smiled at her 

"thank you sweetheart" he exclaimed and she nodded. she leaned against the railing with jj as they listened to the rest of the conversation together. a little bit into the conversation, heyward told them that they should talk to popes great grandmother and they all nodded. they got in the twinkie and drove to nursing home.

"canyon will you come with me?" pope asked and they all turned to the girl 

"you want me to meet your great grandmother?" she asked and he smiled at his girlfriend

"only if you want to" he said and she nodded 

"ill meet her but I think you and her should talk about this key alone" she told him and he smiled as they walked into the home together and saw her sitting there. 

"hey mee-maw, mee-maw" pope said and she woke up 

"bobby?" she asked 

"no, mee-maw, its pope. heywards son. this is canyon my girlfriend" he introduced and canyon smiled at the women softly 

"I don't know how I'm supposed to know that when you standing so far away. come on, show me your face. oh yeah" she said as pope sat down with canyon and they began to talk. 

"hey I'm going to go , let you two talk about this. find me after okay?" canyon said and pope nodded as she got up and left the building. she walked around for a little bit until she heard someone call her name and she turned to see kiara and sarah with drinks 

"hey , how was meeting popes great-grandma?" sarah asked and canyon shrugged softly 

"nice, she doesn't remember pope. i left to let them have some time" she stated and they walked to the twinkie together. 

"so howd it go?" john b asked after pope got back in. 

"shit just got way more personal" pope stated and they drove back to the dock.  

"ya know I still cant believe that you're related to denmark tanny, are we in the presence of a royal? " john b stated

"a king? we shall crown you, all hail the lord of tannyhill" jj stated

"we are not worthy" john b called out and they all laughed together. 

"relocate the cats ass, question mark?" sarah said

"I'm with that" jj said

"how soon can we move in?" kiara asked

"cause I don't have a place to stay"  jj stated 

"molly said that you can live with us" canyon reminded jj 

"I just keep thinking about the letter , the one that limbrey sent. it had the wheat symbol on it, like that must mean it has something to do with the royal merchant but if we find that cross, we can split it like we're gonna split the gold" pope said

"and live happily ever after?" limbrey said 

"you assaulted my father" pope stated

"oh, I didn't assault anybody" limbrey told him

"yeah fucking right , you crazy bitch" canyon said and she stared at the women as pope grabbed her hand and she let him. she didn't hear the rest of the conversation, choosing to block it out until limbrey left and they got in the twinkie and went back to the chateau.  

canyon sat outside of the chateau with sarah and kiara as they listened to the boys cheer about ward and the arrest. 

"do you regret it?" kiara asked the girl

"no, he deserves all of it and i know that " sarah said

"he's your dad, i get it. I'm sure it sucks to be in the middle" kiara said and then sarahs phone rang. 

. they all ran to the twinkie and got in as they drove to the camerons house.

"oh my god, can you drive faster? i need to get to wheezie" sarah said 

"you think I wanna miss this?" john b asked and canyon scoffed. they got on the property as they got out of the twinkie and jumped over the wall. they ran to the dock and they let them through due to sarah being in the front of them.

"vic, you gotta get her out of here, she cant be here right now" ward called out and that's when canyon knew what was going to happen. she moved over to sarah and grabbed her hand. that's when it all went to shit, and the boat exploded. 

"dad, dad, no. no" she fell to the ground and canyon fell with her as sarah cried into her chest and she let her. she knew that the girl was hurting and she held her as tightly as she could. she stared at john b and then down at sarah. 

where they would go from here? 

she didn't know but she didn't like it.
