Chapter Eleven

they're okay?   

3rd Person POV

they were gone, Sarah and john b were gone and canyon felt like she had failed. john b was older than her but she felt the need to protect him and she couldn't even do that so here she was in the backyard of the chateau as she held popes hand and jj carved something into the tree. they stared at the tree in sadness and hurt.

"to john b" jj stated

"and to sarah" kiara and canyon said together. jj drank out of the flask and kiara buried the box in the ground as they covered it in dirt and then they all looked at it together. they began to live their life the way they needed to, going to school, pretending, acting like everything was okay but it wasn't and they knew that. they knew that it wasn't okay and they didn't want to admit that but they had to.

"canyon honey, you have to get out of bed at some point" molly said and she turned over and looked at her mom

"i have school, i promise ill get up tomorrow" she stated and molly nodded as she kissed her forehead and let her stay there for the rest of the day. she woke up the next day and she got ready for school.

kiara drove them and when they got there, canyon watched jj drink out of a flask and she nudged him with her elbow 

"not this early you idiot, i am not saving your ass again" she stated and he scoffed as pope got out of the car with kiara and canyon grabbed his hand. kiara wrapped her arm around jjs and they all walked to the stone together. canyon stared at the pictures of john b wishing she could take it back, wishing he could come back and that this would all be over. 

"i feel like everyone's staring at us" kiara stated and they all looked around together. canyon made eye contact with someone as they looked to the ground and canyon shook her head 

"its cause they are ara, but we have to stick together no matter what" she said and kiara nodded 

"I'm going to be late for class" pope exclaimed and he went to walk away but canyon stopped him 

"did you not just hear anything i said? we stick together pope" canyon said and she led them into the school. she didn't care about the stares , she cared about her friends and where their minds had led them to. she walked to class and sat down as their class started and they began to write down their notes. 

out of nowhere, popes phone went off with jj, kiara and canyons following close after his. 

"whos phone was that? nobody, you will be tested " the teacher said and he turned back to the board as jj, kiara and canyon all pulled out and looked at their phones 

"did you get it?" kiara asked them and canyon nodded 

"yeah" pope said and jj stood up from his seat as he walked over to them and they all looked at their phones. there it was, john b and sarah '

"oh my god" kiara whispered and jj stood up as he ran out and kiara followed 

"Um can me and canyon be excused to help them in the bathroom?" pope said and he grabbed the girls arm as they ran out of class together 

"we can go to the courtyard" kiara said and they ran to the courtyard as kiara opened the door and they all walked out together 

"i mean , is that even possible? shoupe said that they didn't make it. he said that"kiara stated as she stared at her phone 

"okay but i i think we're overreacting cause we cant rule out the possibility that this could all be some weird cruel hoax" pope said and canyon nodded 

"I'm just gonna ask" kiara exclaimed as she sat down and jj spoke up 

"what if its actually him, though?" jj said and kiara texted back as they all stared at their phones and jj texted back. 

"its him" jj said and canyon hugged jj as he hugged her back and they all smiled together.  

"guys its them. they're okay?" canyon exclaimed 

"they're okay" kiara stated and they continued to read the texts. 

"P4L, Man. that's what I'm talking about baby" jj cheered and they all laughed as canyon hugged pope and then kiara as she smiled at them and they all smiled at their phones again. not long after school, they left and went to the wreck. 

"hey kiara i do need those setups done by five!" anna called to them 

"there are other people that work here" kiara called out 

"none of them are my children" she said and canyon laughed as they walked to the dock and sat down together. canyon sat next to pope as he grabbed her hand and began to play with the bracelets on her wrist 

"so we going to the Bahamas or what?" jj asked them and canyon made eye contact with kiara as pope made eye contact with jj. 

"there's no way we're getting to the Bahamas" pope exclaimed 

"john bs gonna get nabbed sooner or later so if we're gonna clear his name, we need to have done it yesterday" kiara spoke 

"ill tell you how we do it, we kidnap rafe, tie him up and stick the gun in his mouth and just wait till he starts squawking" jj exclaimed and canyon slapped her forehead 

"jj, there is a way better plan than that. torture is a war crime" canyon exclaimed and then she turned to pope 

" all we need is a material witness. we saw wards plane fly right over our heads with the gold inside of it. he didn't fly it, if somebody else flew, they were there on the tarmac. they saw peterkin get murdered. we just have to find whoever that was and get them to confess on record" pope stated 

"and how do we do that?" kiara asked 

" a little light espionage. woogity-woogity" pope said and they did the handshake as they all laughed and came up with a plan. canyon sat in the back of the car as she had her headphones in and she ignored everything they were saying. she knew that molly was worried and she didn't care about what the others were doing, she knew that whatever was happening she didn't want to be involved. 

"so canyon, you and pope?" jj asked her and she turned to him as kiara did the same thing. she didn't want to say anything that she would regret 

"yeah i guess" she exclaimed and kiara felt her heart snap but she didn't care. she wanted canyon to be happy and if that was with pope, then so be it. pope got in the car and he smiled at canyon who smiled back at him and then it was time to begin the plan. canyon leaned on the window as she stared out and waited in the car. 

she watched the others leave the car but she didn't care. she stayed in the car but god she had wished that she got out. 

God she wished she had been there for what had happened. she wished she was there to see it.
