Chapter Five
dr. moon patched me up

3rd Person POV

jj showed up at her house covered in blood and even though she wanted to question it , even though she wanted to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. she let him in and she patched him up. she didn't say a word, she knew he needed the quiet and she was prepared to give that quiet to him.

"cowgirl, thank you" jj said and she looked up at him as she patched up his bleeding lip and nodded

"anytime j" she stated and he nodded

"are you okay? i assume kiara told you everything" he asked and she looked at him and shrugged . she didn't want to admit that she wasn't but this was jj

"are you guys okay? i heard everything that happened, I'm bad you kept it from me but i don't want pope-you guys getting hurt" she exclaimed and jj smirked at the girl

"i knew you liked him more then a friend, he's okay cowgirl" jj said and she nodded her head. as she wiped off the last drop of blood and he smiled.

"so midsummers, are you going?" he asked trying to change the subject and canyon nodded.

"I'm kiaras plus one, it was the plan even before we broke up" she exclaimed and he smiled at her as she smiled back and then there was a knock on the door.

"moonie, are you okay in there?" molly asked and jj smirked

"hi molly!" he called out and canyon shoved his shoulder with a small laugh and opened the door.

"yeah mama, I'm alright" she said and then she turned to jj

"i have to go meet john b but i will see you later. thank you for helping me canyon" he said and he ran his thumb over her hand as he left the room and the house altogether. molly turned to canyon and sighed

"what happened to him my love?" she asked and canyon shrugged

"i don't think he wants anyone to know" canyon spoke and then there was another knock on the door. molly opened it as kiara walked in and grabbed canyons arm.

"midsummers, lets go get dressed as we are forced to go and i can only think of you coming with me" kiara stated

"ill be back later mom. i love you" she called and molly kissed the girls forehead as they left the house and went to kiaras. when they walked in, anna and mike looked at the pair and smiled.

"oh canyon, hi honey how are you?" anna said as she hugged the moon girl and canyon hugged her back. anna had always been nice to her, never let her wonder what they thought of her or how they felt.

"i am amazing anna and how are you?" she asked and anna smiled as mike walked over and hugged the girl too. they were like her parents.

"okay that is enough, we have to go get ready if you want us to go" kiara said and she led canyon upstairs as she closed the door and handed the girl the yellow dress. canyon walked into the bathroom and she put it on as she ran a hand over her hair and then began to put her makeup on. she did her hair not long afterwards and then she left the bathroom

"canyon oh my god honey, you look amazing" anna spoke as canyon spun and anna smiled at her as kiara did too. kiara liked to see the girl happy and calm, she knew the girl would have fun.

"let's go get this over with" Kiara spoke as they left the room and got in the car. canyon stared outside of the window with a smile on her face as she looked around in happiness. kiara watched the girl and smiled. they got to the location and climbed out together

"ara, I see pope. come on" she said and she grabbed kiaras hand as they walked over to pope. anna watched the girls walk away together and shook her head, she couldn't help but think that they weren't over each other just yet.

they walked up behind pope and Kiara spoke up

"excuse me, sir. do we have to shuck these ourselves? cause it might mess up our costumes" Kiara stated and popes eyes drifted to canyon and her dress. he felt like he couldn't take his eyes off of her.

"we wouldn't want that now, would we?" he asked and they did their handshake with each other before he stepped forward and hugged canyon. she hugged him back.

"you look beautiful flower girl" pope said and she smiled at him as he smiled back. she watched kiara and pope talk to each other

"hey, have you heard from jj?" pope asked

"no" kiara stated

"i did, he came over. guys its bad and that's all i can say. he probably doesn't want you to know and i don't think i should but just know that its bad" she exclaimed and then they heard clapping as the Camerons came walking through and canyon sighed. she missed being friends with the girl but she didn't care. she watched as kiara walked away and she watched.

she couldn't help but long for the girl to come back but no one had to know that. she couldn't have anyone know that and she wouldn't so she stayed with pope for the rest of the night and then she saw him.

"hey!" pope said and he hugged jj as jj hugged him back. canyon thought that they were cute, she could see the chemistry a mile away and she knew that they used to be something but all good things have to come to an end so she stayed back and let them talk.

"can really snap it off at times but its okay, dr.moon patched me up. made me feel all better" he said and he made eye contact with canyon who laughed and smiled. she liked that he could come to her. she felt like he was the brother she always wanted.

"anytime j" she called and then she watched as pope and jj talked. she sighed as he walked away and pope turned to canyon as she shrugged and he threw up his hands. they both sighed together and continued to stay at the grill. that was until jj was being led out by a man and canyon turned her head to pope. 

"mandatory power hour at rixons cove, kie. pope, canyon, you as well" he said and canyon smiled as she grabbed popes hand and they ran off together. jj smiled at them as they contained to run together happily. they got in the twinkie and drove to rixons. when they got out, they went and set up a fire before pope spoke up

"hey,guys. so,like,my dad already gonna kill me. so whats this mandatory meeting about?" pope asked

"yeah mama moon might not be so happy to hear that i blew this off" canyon stated and they all smiled at her. even in fear, she could still make jokes and act happy.

"you ready for this?" john b asked them

"yeah" kiara and canyon said together.

"so, the gold didn't sink with the royal merchant" john b began

"here we go again with this" pope stated and canyon looked at them confused.

"its been here the whole time. its on the island. so , in my backpack. i have a letter from denmark tanny who was a slave that survived the royal merchant wreck and he used the gold to buy his freedom and after that, he bought his farm which is tannyhill plantation. so after that, he used his money to free more slaves and he sold a shit-ton a white rice which pisses off all of the white planters and then they decide to lynch him" he stated but canyon blacked out. her mind did that, stripped her of listening and thinking.

she didn't hear anything until she heard kiara say in an angry tone.

"sarah? why sarah?" she said and she looked at canyon who shrugged and listened to them. she listened closely

"john b we are talking about this later" canyon spoke and john b nodded softly. he knew that the girl was serious but she wasn't mad about him and sarah. he was mad about sarah being with topper and john b at the same time.

"so later we are going to the eagles nest to see her and get the map" john b said and canyon shook her head

"this is where i say nope and you bring me home. i will see you guys tomorrow" she spoke and they drove her home.

she got out as she high-fived john b as she did the handshake with jj; she winked at kiara and kissed popes cheek as she left the twinkie with a smile on her face.

they dropped her off but she had no idea what was happening on the outside. not because they were hiding it but because she wasn't there.

what will happen when she finds this out?
