Chapter Nine
canyon you're a genius 

3rd Person POV

she slept for as long as she could. when she woke up, she did everything she would usually do with blue and stardust and then she heard a noise and saw kiaras parents car rolling into her yard as fast as it could and pope jumped out of it as he ran to her and grabbed her arm

"we need to go, now" pope said and she nodded as they ran to the car together. she got into the back with pope as she saw jj and kiara in the front seat and they looked at her.

"cowgirl, how are you feeling?" he asked her and she shrugged softly as she looked at him and he looked at her. they made eye contact and he nodded his head as she smiled softly at him. he was okay and that was enough for her. they drove to the junk yard as they got out of the car and then they saw the plane flying over them

"is that?" she asked and they all nodded as pope began to freak out and they all watched him. if he was there, he wasn't at his interview and that meant the gold was all for nothing. pope threw things around and kiara grabbed canyons hand as they watched in shock. he had never been so angry before and they didn't expect to see it until now. he sat down and he took a deep breathe

"yeah, i was wondering when this was going to happen" jj told him and canyon shook her head a the boy as she looked at kiara. jj handed the vape to pope and he grabbed it as he looked at the girls and he took a hit of it.

"i lost my scholarship, walked out in the middle of the interview" he told her and canyon sighed. she shook her head as pope took a hit and then they turned to see john b.

"holy shit" canyon said as she took in the sight of blood on john b. she ran over and looked in his eyes as he looked in hers and they both sighed. he wrapped his arms around her and held her as she hugged him. they all watched the pair of them in confusion

"john b are you okay? whose blood is that?" kiara asked in fear as canyon let go of john b and they ducked as a cop car went by. canyon looked at john b and they shared a look.

"i have to do something" he said and they all walked to the car. they got in and kiara got in the drivers seat as they drove to the sheriffs station and canyon sighed.

"Bee, are you sure this is a good idea?" she asked him in fear and he nodded

"keep the car running, the cops have to know" he said and he got out of the car. canyon watched him before she looked at pope who was smoking and she shook her head. two minutes later, john b came running to the car with two cops following behind him and she looked at him

"START THE CAR" he yelled and canyon nodded as she turned the key and she put her hand on kies shoulder making her step on the gas and they drove off.

"okay so i say that we stay out of sight and hide. i have a place that we can go" canyon said and kiara turned to her

"there? don't you think they'll find us?" she asked and the boys shared a look. they didn't know what the girls were talking about

"okay i feel heavily left out right now and you should know that" pope stated and canyon turned to him and sighed

"sorry love" she said and he smiled at her as kiara began to drive to the location. she parked and they fell asleep but not really. while they were sitting there, the sun began to rise and canyon turned on the radio to listen to it but there was only bad news

"and still, no arrest in the shooting death of sheriff susan peterkin. the state police has issued a statement regarding a local person of interest, a juvenile from" and kiara shut off the radio. canyon heard jj and she turned to look at him as he stared at her

"canyon you're a genius , I'm going to tell you this and you can agree or disagree" jj exclaimed and canyon nodded

"alright maybank hit me with it" she spoke and he nodded

"who are the cops going to believe,  ward cameron or us?" he said and she looked at the floor of the car.

"you and i both know the answer jj" she stated

"exactly  so yucatan" he began but canyon stopped him

"jj , come on. not right now" she said and john b spoke up but canyon didn't listen to him. they started the car and they drove to the docks, pope got out but he ran back over holding a piece of paper with a scared look on his face.

"okay popsicle, whats going on and why do you look like someone just told you that you have to go back to that horrible summer camp?" canyon asked and he handed her the paper as he got in the car and looked at them

"oh fuck" she said and she handed the paper to the others as they all looked at it

"oh and the ferrys closed" he stated and canyon smacked her forehead

"that's a lot of money guys. we need to get to the hms. we need to small, no running lights" kiara began and canyon felt someone grab her hand, she looked up to see it was pope and they were sharing a deep look. she squeezed his hand and he squeezed hers back.

"its at the chateau , kie" john b stated and while jj said something else, canyon looked at pope who nodded and spoke up

" jj. does your dad still that boat? the cigarette boat, the one he used to race. the phantom? because you can get right up the coast with that, no problem. jj find the keys" pope said and he began honking the horn. pope turned the car on and he shot forward before he spun around and drove off. they watched and canyon sighed as pope continued to drive.

"john b, get out" pope said and he looked at canyon

"come to my house if you need to, that's last resort" she said and he nodded. they continued to drive, canyon listened to jj and pope

"pull over, jj its not funny. he shouldn't be driving" kiara said and she got out before she got back into the drivers seat and they drove to camerons. canyon stayed in the car as she waited for them. she didn't know what was happening outside , she wished she did. she wished she had heard kiara confessing her love about canyon to pope but she didn't. she didn't hear anything.

but maybe she didn't want to. maybe she didn't want to hear it, maybe she didn't want to know.

kiara is so love with canyon that she admits it to everybody but canyon and that hurts me. i miss my girls but at the same time, this is a pope book and canyon loves pope more then she loves ara.
