Chapter Three
our little genius

3rd Person POV

canyon didn't know what happened after john b and the others did what they needed to. they didn't tell her, too scared that she would freak out again or that she would be mad that john b and Kiara kissed. she didn't know anything but when the twinkie came rolling up with them, she and pope looked out of the window and at the twinkie as they left her house and they went to the others.

"we found something but we wanted you guys to be here when we heard it" he said and canyon smiled as she got in the twinkie with pope and they drove to the chateau. Canyon sat between kiara and john b as they all stared at what was in front of john b.

it was a package and canyon felt like she might throw up, she knew what it was. she grabbed onto popes hand as they stood with each other. she held his hand as john b opened the package and pulled out a map

"holy shit" john b exclaimed

"oh, x marks the spot" pope stated and canyon smiled as she ran her thumb over his hand and he looked at her

"our little genius" she spoke and JJ shared a look with Kiara. even though JJ and pope used to be together and Kiara and canyon were too, they knew that the two had chemistry and were cute. they practically had a bet on them, kiara knew that canyon would get the chance to ask pope out before he asked her.

they went back to the map and john b pulled something out. they all looked at it and it began to play. Canyon stepped forward and grabbed john's hand as he set down the tape recorder and they all listened. big john was like a dad to canyon too so it would hurt her more than it should.

"I hate to say, I told you so, but I told you so. And you doubted your old man. I suspect at this moment, you're filled with guilt and self-loathing over our last fight, but don't kill yourself just yet, kid. I didn't expect to find the merchant either. You were probably right to call me out. Wasn't exactly the father of the decade. What can I say, kid? I could smell the brain. And hopefully, we're listening to this in our brand new sugar Shack down in Costa Rica, living off passive investment and pulling in permits. If not, and you find this for less than optimal reasons, well that's what the maps are for. There she is, the wreck of the merchant. If something happens to me, finish what I started. Go for the gold, kid. I love you, bird. Even if I didn't always act like it. I'll see you on the other side" that's what the tape said. it ended and john b stood up from the table as he walked to the door and leaned against the doorway

"holy shit, big john. he found the gold, he did it" jj said and canyon looked at him

"jj jj not right now" canyon said and he nodded as kiara walked over and hugged john b. after they all walked out to the dock and sat together. canyon stared at the stars as she listened to the talking. 500 million, that's how much it was and canyon knew they would split it evenly. she knew that they would and she trusted

"hey sunshine, what are you going to do?" she heard and she looked at them as they all stared at her

" i don't know , maybe pay for the cows to have more room and food. i want to stay here and i don't want the gold to take over me and my life. i like being a pogue, i liked where i live, i like where we are as a group" she stated and they all smiled at the girl. she was right, they didn't need money to be happy but they did want it.

"promise me that nothing will change" canyon exclaimed as she looked at them and they all smiled at the girl. the last thing they wanted was for them to change

"we promise cowgirl, we wont change" jj said and he reached his hand out as he ruffled her hair. they stayed there for the rest of the night and then the next morning, they got on the HMS and rode out. Canyon sat with kiara and pope as they rode past topper and sarah. she waved softly at sarah who smiled back. they couldn't hate each other even if they tried.

"canyon what did we say about being nice to her?" kiara asked and canyon sighed as she made eye contact

"to not be, but i cant hate her kie. i could never" she told the girl and kiara sighed and nodded. after a while, they got back to the chateu and changed into their clothes. they got into the twinkie and rode over to the enemy side, or that's at least what JJ called it.

"hey guys, I'm gonna sit this one out. i don't entirely know everything and I'm the best get away driver. be safe" she said and they all nodded as they got out of the twinkie and pope looked at the girl. he leaned forward and he kissed her forehead

"what would we do without you?" he said and jj tugged his arm as they walked away from the twinkie. canyon smiled at the sight of them leaving before her phone rang and she opened it to see it was a call from jackson

"hey there moonie, where have you been?" he asked and she sighed

"sorry i haven't been home dad, I've been with the others. i should've called" she told him and he nodded against the phone

"we just want to make sure you're being safe" he spoke and she nodded

"I'm being safe dad. i promise" she said and then she heard the door open as she saw jj and the others climb in

"dad, i have to go. everybody say bye to my dad" she stated and she put the phone on speaker

"BYE JACKSON" they all said and canyon ended the call with a smile as she started the call and turned to them.

"so whats the plan?" she asked and they all looked at each other. they knew that something might happen if she went and got hurt so they decided to leave her out of it.

"this plan of ours only needs four people, so we are thinking you can meet us at the wreck after and we can talk" John b told her and she nodded.

"yeah alright, drop me off at the wreck and then you can drive to wherever you're going" she said and they nodded as they got to the wreck and dropped her off. she kissed popes cheek and then she walked into the wreck as mike turned to her

"canyon moon, how are you?" he asked and she smiled at him

"I'm good mike how are you?" she exclaimed and he smiled as he lifted his hand and ruffled her hair. she laughed

"I'm alright, can you help me with this?" he questioned and she nodded

"anytime" she spoke and she got to work as fast as she could. she helped him with everything and then the door opened. she turned and saw kiara walking in with pope, john b and jj.

"hey!" she stated and she walked out from behind the counter as they all looked at the girl and smiled at her. she brought out the food for them as she set it down and watched them smile.

"did you have fun?" she asked as she leaned down next to kiara and hugged the girl softly. she then did the same with pope. she proceeded to do the handshake with john b and jj as they smiled at her. a song came on the radio and kiara stood up as she held her hand out to the moon girl and she stood up. she began to dance with her before kiara pointed to john b who stood up.

jj watched as canyon held her hand out to pope and he stood up with a smile as she began to dance with him. jj smiled at the pair before he stood up and joined in with them. canyon smiled at the boy who smiled back. she didn't know what she was doing but she liked it. she liked being there with them.

they had promised they wouldn't change and she believed them. she believed that they wouldn't change or at least she told herself she believed.

she didn't even know what was happening but she would find out soon.

so I'm sure we all know what happens in season 3 but i am hanging on to JJPOPE and lesbian kiara. they are true to me and they always have been. just because i am writing these books doesn't mean that i don't want jjpope to happen. comfort couple at its finest
