"Shinya."

"It is lovely to see you again!" he said smiling at me.

"Why are you here?"

"Why am I here?? To visit a friend of course."

"A friend huh?"

"Yes. Our friend died recently so I came to comfort Hizashi. He is going through a lot."

"Do you mean Shota?"

"Yes! You know him?"

"Yes, I know him."

"Wow. WHat a small world we live in."

"YOU WO HAVE ALREADY MET!?" Hizashi asked, yelling as usual.

"Yes we do," Shinya responded. "We've known each other for years."

'We've known each other for years he says. I don't recall ever meeting him.

Maybe I met him a long time ago? I had been to many places and have met many people. Ade friends with many people. Killed many people. It is my job after all.

But now that I think about it, Shinya didn't seem to know that I even knew Shota. Does that mean he wasn't the one who killed him?

Does someone else have it out for Shota?

I needed to investigate.

I went to his house and knocked on the door twice.

Emi answered the door and smiled when she saw me.

"Ryuko! Oh, it's great to see you!" She smiled brightly. Only this smile seemed a bit duller than her usual one.

"Helo Emi. May I come in?"

"Yes, please do!"

"Where's Eri?"

"She's playing with the baby."

I had completely forgotten that they have a baby.

"Eri! Come say hello to Ryuko!" Emi called Eri.

Eri walked into the room carrying the small baby. She looked very sad.

"Say hello Eri!"

"Hello Aunty Ryuko." Eri said in a tiny voice.

I could tell she was very sad. But of course, she was. Her dad was gone. And she feels like it was her fault.

Emi took the baby from her and Eri rushed back into the room and shut the door.

"Sory about that. She is still upset."

"Oh, it's okay. You are both going through a lot."
"Yeah. I never thought something like this would ever happen."

"I know. I am very sorry."

"It's okay."

"I know this isn't the right time. But I need to ask you some questions."

"Questions? About what?"

"About Shota."
