3 .Personal Stalker.

"Good Morning everyone." Jamie greets cheerfully when she enters the kitchen the next morning, sparing Wolf a knowing yet disapproving glance at the reminder of waking up alone this morning but her appearance more so takes him back.

Her blonde hair is styled to perfection with a nude beret nestled on top of it to go with the gold buttons on her white, knee-length coat dress tied at the waist. The sisters also look at her and she shrugs. "I have a meeting, if we're gonna find mom, I'm going to need to channel the Queen herself. I am after all a Davenport myself and I'm back, so I'm gonna need to make a statement."

"James." Wolf brings her attention to him. "I don't think it's a good idea for any of you to be out—"

"If my own mother couldn't bench me, you can't either." She cuts him off and he raises his eyebrows at her firm tone but gives him an unapologetic one-sided shrug.

"Okay lovebirds, I hate hate hate to say it but Jamie is right. We have to do something." Nial seconds and Jamie holds her hand out and high-fives her with a wink.

"Actually, I have somewhere to go too." Rickson stands and runs her hands over her pink fluffy sweater and black trousers, a beret conveniently on her head as well as some signature leather gloves covering her hands. "Hitter, if you could look after my sister however, it would be much appreciated since Sugar tends to be a tad...deadly."

Jamie smiles proudly and Wolf shakes his head at the glint in her eyes. "Will do."

"Elly, Nia, you guys do what you want to do. If mom is out there, then we'll find her one way or another. I guess maybe we'll regroup tonight, 7 PM sharp for dinner and discuss our first-day findings. Please be careful. Other than that, bye. I love you." Rickson leaves, grabbing her Chanel purse and sunglasses then heads for the door.

"Let's go," Jamie tells Wolf, waving at her sisters then they leave together to the garage where they head to her car that's parked here, pausing at opposite sides so Jamie tosses to keys to the male before they slide in beside each other.

Fastening her seatbelt, Jamie flips her hair back and then settles in her seat before noticing that Wolf is staring at her with an odd expression on his face she can't quite read. "What?"

"Is this what a Davenport looks like when she means business?" Her eyes roll but she smiles.

"If I say yes?"

"Then I love it."

"What's wrong with how I normally dress?"

"Nothing, you know that. I love you in every outfit. There's just something about the confidence you've pushed extra that just... It's great."

"Sure. Drive Wolfy, we need to meet up with my mom's right-hand woman."

"Vera? Why?"

"I shouldn't be surprised that you know her yet I kind of am. Because, if mom was up to something, then she'd know. Besides, her son is a fantastic hacker and I need to have a word with him about finding some stuff out about what the hell happened at the restaurant." She slips sunglasses onto her face and looks down at her phone, talking with the male now.

"Hear me out," Wolf starts, his mask resting firmly over his mouth and nose but he pulls it down slightly and holds up a hand.

"Uh oh."

"Let's say you have a personal stalker–"

"Do you still consider yourself my personal stalker?" Jamie strays from the point with thoughtful eyes and he shrugs, both hands resting on the steering wheel as he drives.

"Yes?" It came out as a question instead of a statement.

"So if Rikki hadn't asked you to come with me today, would you have followed knowing that I was most likely up to no good?"

"You're my girlfriend now, I'd need to consider respecting boundaries."

"But?" She presses.

"I would make sure I'm an inch from breathing from your neck."

She laughs slightly, sliding her hand over onto his leg and holding it loosely. "Okay okay, I think this is a conversation for another day, go on."

"No, wait. Would you have a problem with me following you?"

"I mean no. But because you are my boyfriend, I'd probably feel bad that you had to watch me all day." She shrugs her shoulder and he nods understandably.

"You're right, this is a conversation for another day. Carrying on. Your personal stalker, right? Nine times out of ten, would have knowledge of your whereabouts, right?"

"Right." She agrees.

"Known to be the Yasmine Davenport, you get one for your daughter, your most dangerous daughter at that... Where could the idea come from? Your own? Or just the possibility of keeping your kid safe?"

The entire thing is confusing when he lays it out like that so Jamie asks him to elaborate. "Your mom knows you better than you know yourself. If she knows that there are times that one thing you do won't be so calculated so she got you a personal stalker..."

Jamie begins stewing on his theory, she finds it making more and more sense. "Wolf, do you know where my mom is?"

"Not me. No."

"Does mom have her own stalker?"

This time, he shrugs as though he didn't just take her on a rampage. "Think."

She just shakes her head. "You tell me."

"I don't know, the only person who has a chance of knowing is you and your sisters."

"I didn't even know I had a stalker so--" She trails off. He doesn't say anything to that but glances sideways at her only to see her with a lollipop between her plump, glossed lips.

"Where'd you get that?" Instead of answering, she pulls another out of her purse and holds it up. He shakes his head but doesn't comment further on her stash.

The rest of their drive is spent in silence, not an awkward or tense one, but a thought-filled one and Jamie swirls her tongue around the red candy in her mouth, eyes just as glassy as her lips as she begins to truly sort through his words.

"Rickson!"

Wolf calmly looks over at his girlfriend even at her loud outburst. "Rickson knows everything. I can bet you anything that if what you're saying is true then she'd know."

The male smiles. "See, I knew you'd figure something out."

"I'm gonna text her, tell her we need to meet her a little bit early for lunch to talk. Mm," Jamie leans over and presses a firm kiss to Wolf's cheek. "You are such a genius. I love you."

His smile grows when she wipes her lipstick from his skin afterwards. "I love you too."

"I'm like excited."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. Because I'm mad and I'm ready to take it out on someone like yesterday for doing this."

.....

"Aunt Vera!" Jamie throws her arms around the forty-something female with bright orange hair, dark eyeliner and killer heels, shutting her eyes for a moment before pulling back and receiving a kiss on the cheek.

"James, look at you. It's been so long since I saw you! Oh, and Hitter, is that you?"

"In the flesh, V." He reaches over and shakes her hand with a slight nod before pulling back and stepping back to Jamie's side and walking together when Vera brings them through to her living room which is lit brightly by natural light due to the floor to ceiling windows.

Vera's home is a modern designed penthouse with a colour block decor, made up of fun paintings and pieces all around. The couple sits on the royal blue 'L' sofa then she settles across on one of the two yellow armchairs. Looking between the two with her green eyes, her brows are raised as she examines the space between the two of them.

"Come on you two! You think I don't know about you?" Jamie shrugs with a slight smile and looks up at Wolf who mirrors her lack of movement to move any closer to each other but they do acknowledge each other by his hand placing itself on her knee.

Vera chuckles. "So, as lovely as this visit is, what can I do for you both?"

"My mom is missing."

The older woman stands and nods, strolling to the kitchen and disappearing for a minute before returning with a tray of three cocktail glasses and a jug of an ombre beverage with slices of lemon and lime floating along with some ice.

"That she is."

"Why are you so calm them?" Jamie wants to know, accepting the drink but Wolf shakes his head but thanks Vera either way.

"When am I ever not calm, cub?"

"I don't know."

"Exactly. Is that why you're back from wherever your mother refused to tell me you went?"

"Of course."

"You Davenport girls really care for each other, it's honestly adorable."

"Gee thanks." Jame sips her drink then rubs her lips together and hums in approval to the flooded sweetness.

"And extremely reckless. Shouldn't you be responsible for making sure she isn't doing anything stupid?" Vera looks at Hitter who looks sideways at a daring Jamie.

"No. I'm responsible for making sure that if she does do something stupid, she doesn't kill herself while doing it." Jamie rolls her eyes and then tips back the rest of her drink when her mother's best friend laughs.

"Can you just show me that footage from that day?"

"Sure. Let me just go grab my laptop."

.....

Yasmine shares a hug with her daughters, checking the watch on her wrist then walking towards her Rolls Royce where her driver climbs out to open the back door for her to slide in.

She turns and waves to the girls, before disappearing inside with her driver following.

It hums as it starts, the wheels turning ready to pull out and then it—

Wolf instinctively covers Jamie's eyes at the explosion and she flinches at the audio of her sisters screaming and shouting. She lowers his hand and watches her sisters getting dragged away from the explosion, all of them fighting against their guards but then they're shoved in cars and driven away immediately.

Nial specialises in combat so it takes four whole guards to control her before she's also forced into the car and away from the scene.

A warm hand rubs the side of her thigh and Jamie places her hand over Wolf's and squeezes tightly.

"Play it again. I need to see the entire thing."

So they rewind and although flinching through watching the car explode before her eyes this time around, Jamie manages to watch it over and over again.

"Can we enlarge the video? Focus it on the car directly then slow it down?" Jamie asks, to which Vera picks up the laptop and taps at the keyboard for a little bit before setting it down again and instructs Jamie on how to take it forward and back as many times as she can without having it dip out of slow motion.

The Davenport daughter crouches in front of the coffee table --heels and all-- then squints as she peers directly up at the screen.

She presses play.

Rewinds. Plays.

Rewinds. Plays.

Rewinds... Pauses. "There." Jamie pauses and taps the screen. "Underneath the car."

Hitter moves behind Jamie as well to look directly where she points and very faintly in all the darkness of the bottom of the car is a flash of platinum blonde.

"I could spot her hair anywhere and I know that that is hers. The question is though, how did my mom get underneath her car just as it was blowing up without leaving out the door again?"
