Sans woke up gradually finding it hard to open his eyes, he groaned the light from the sun shone through his curtains and hit his eyes perfectly. He rolled over attempting to go back to sleep, he was always tired now, more so than normal but when you wake up to aches and pains every day, you’d rather be asleep. Sans sighed when his brother knocked on the door, it was like the world didn’t want him to sleep through today. He slowly got up stretching until he heard a satisfying pop in his back. He slumped down groaning at the throbbing pain in his back, he got up plucking his shirt up off the floor and putting it on sluggishly. He shuffled to the door and slowly opened it, peering up at his brother tiredly. Sans grinned at Papyrus, it being somewhat forced, “Heya Paps, what’s up?” He spoke in his normal lazy tone grinning at his brother as he always did.

Papyrus smiled down at his shorter yet somehow older brother. “I THE GREAT PAPYRUS! HAVE COME TO GET YOU FOR BREAKFAST DEAR BROTHER! YOU HAVE NOT BEEN EATING LATELY SO I MADE YOU SOME DELICIOUS WAFFLES!” Sans chuckled he could hear his brother ‘nyeh’ between each breath.

“A’ight bro. I’ll be down in a sec.” he uttered softly and limped to his closet as Papyrus posed heroically.

“ALRIGHT DEAR BROTHER! TRY NOT TO FALL ASLEEP THIS TIME!”

Sans chuckled lazily, “Alright bro” and with Sans’ lazy comply Papyrus left to the kitchen ‘Nyeh heh heh-ing’ down the stairs. Sans seized his jacket shaking his head as he chuckled at his little brother’s antics. He shrugged on his jacket and sighed, He could go back to sleep, but he told Pap that he wouldn’t, not this time at least. He groaned and rubbed his face in a lazy attempt to wake up. He’d do anything just to nap right now, he walked downstairs slowly the discomfort in his leg grew with every step he took. He already regretted getting out of bed today, and he hasn’t even been awake for ten minutes. He hobbled into the kitchen and sat at the table, he grinned at the display of freshly made waffles sitting in front of him. He’s thankful Tori had taught Papyrus how to cook, he’s improved a lot since arriving to the surface! And he expended from just pasta, thankfully. He looked up at Papyrus as he finished up making his plate of food, Sans then looked down at his food again. The sudden disinterest in food hit him like a truck, he just...didn’t feel hungry. Sure, the food looked great, but he couldn’t help but not feel hungry, he sighed as Papyrus sat down at the table.

“SOMETHING WRONG BROTHER? DO YOU NOT LIKE IT?” Papyrus’ voice boomed in concern,

Sans shook his head, “No, no ‘s okay, just not feeling too hungry today, y’know?” Sans muttered while he stabbed at his food.

Papyrus frowned for a second before smiling again, “THAT’S ALRIGHT BROTHER! I SHALL WRAP IT UP AND SAVE IT FOR LATER!” Papyrus’ happy attitude seemed to cheer Sans up a bit.

The short skeleton beamed at his brother, “Thanks bro you’re the best.” he chuckled as Papyrus lit up.

“OF COURSE, I AM! I AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS AFTER ALL!” Papyrus proclaimed a hand on his chest, “THOUGH, BROTHER I HAVE TO SAY! I’M WORRIED, MAYBE WE SHOULD SEE DOCTOR ALPHYS! YOU DO NOT SEEM WELL! AND YOU HAVE NOT BEEN EATING!” Papyrus voice was laced with worry as he gazed softly down at his sibling.

“I’m fine bro.” Sans brushed it off and stood up, “I’m gonna go to Grillby’s” he called out as he walked to the front door, he could hear Papyrus yell at him not to stay out too late as he stepped out the door. He closed the door behind him and sighed, he didn’t feel like walking to Gillby’s not that he was going there anyhow. Ink was supposed to pick him up today, he was going to see Medic, the Sans from MedicTale, or whatever it was called. Ink said he should go since he wasn’t eating anymore and was experiencing a great deal of pain from all his aching. He walked down the street with a limp, traveling slowly to his and Ink’s agreed meet up spot.

Sans stood there waiting for Ink, he began to nod off while he waited. It wasn’t long until Sans was woken up by the sound of a portal opening. He slumped when Ink walked through, his famous smile plastered to his face, as usual. Ink held his large paintbrush in his hands his eye’s changing shapes as he blinked. “Sup.” Sans greeted nonchalantly,

“Hey, Classic! Ready to go!” Ink spoke energetically as always.

Sans sighed and nodded, “Yep, let’s go.” he hummed and stepped through the portal Ink made, Ink followed suit and walked into the portal. The portal ride over to the other Au was short it only took a split second to get there.  Sans looked around the giant hospital lobby, the beautifully painted walls helped bring a rather bland and gloomy place to life. The huge skylight brought a nice warm but bright natural lighting to the lobby even if it was rather small. Chairs lined one side of the room, a few people were scattered about the chairs waiting to be called. Children ran around the small play area or watched the TV in the corner. A large desk with papers, clipboards, pens, and potted plants stood in the middle of the room a few nurses sat the desk working away. Ink stood next to him, his star eye light glowing brightly in excitement. Sans chuckled at that as they walked to the front desk. A nice bunny lady sat at the desk playing minesweeper on the desktop. It must be a slow day for them, her ear twitched, and she looked up at the two skeletons; she was dressed in her pink nurse uniform a small hat sat on her head with a white cross on the top. One ear was flopped to the sides and resting on her shoulder while the other was up and alert. She smiled at them, “Hello! How can I help you!” she greeted in a soft and sweet voice.

Ink spoke up smiling back at her, “Hello Ma’am! Me and my friend here have an appointment with Doctor Sans! Do you know where we might find him!” Ink asked bouncing on the balls of his feet. His shoes squeaked against the white tiled floor.

The nurse tilted her head in thought, “Oh! He may be in his office on the third story!” She hummed in her soft voice. Ink nodded in thanks before dragging Sans along to the elevator. Sans groaned at this, being forced to walk faster made his bones and joints ache. The pain flared up with a vengeance and made his bones burn slightly.  Ink quickly noticed this and sputtered a quick apology as they got onto the elevator. Sans shrugged it off and hit the button with the ‘3’ on it. With a small jerk from the elevator, they were on their way to the third floor. The small ride up to the third story was quiet, Ink kept giving Sans worried looks which was beginning to wear on Sans. He didn't need Ink to worry about him as much as he was, he was a skeleton after all he'd be okay, it's not like he would just turn over and die at a small cold. A few long moments later and a ‘ding’ rang out the doors to the elevator flew open revealing the third story. The long hallway was decorated in pictures, large potted plants, and a few benches pushed up against the walls. The walls were painted a dull blue, large windows stood off to the other side of the room all windows leading into offices. Some glass doors were propped open others were closed. Sans stepped out of the elevator, Ink following with a bright smile on his face once again. The artistic skeleton quickly took the lead and guided Sans to Medic Sans’ office. Ink entered the office with a small knock on the open glass door for casualties' sake. A small nameplate was attached to the door, the name ‘Dr. Sans’ was written out on the plate. A skeleton dressed in a lab coat and scrubs looked up from the cluttered desk and stopped what he was working on. The room looked cozy, with a deep-sea green shade chosen for the walls that matched the dark grey carpet. The cluttered desk was pushed to the corner with large bookshelves standing behind it. Two comfy looking chairs sat in front of the desk most likely for guests, off to the side stood a whiteboard and a few file cabinets stood behind it.

“Oh! Ink! It’s nice to see you!” the lab coat wearing skeleton cheered and stood up to greet Ink with a hug. He seemed pretty excited to see Ink again.

Ink smiled and approached Medic rather quickly hugging the slightly smaller skeleton. “Hey, Medic! This is the friend I was talking about, Classic! I was hoping you could give him a checkup!” Ink grinned as he introduced Sans, Medic nodded and held his hand out for Sans to shake. Sans took his hand giving it a quick shake before retreating his hands back to his jacket pockets.

“Hello! It’s nice to finally meet you Classic! Ink has mostly filled me in on what’s been going on lately. Let’s sit down and talk, you can give me all the little details that’ll help me better understand what's going on.” Sans nodded and sat in one of the two chairs in front of Medic’s desk. Medic took a seat at his desk and reviewed his clipboard one more time before looking up to talk to them. “So, from what Ink has told me. You’ve been experiencing pain in your back and other joints mainly your back and legs, which was described as a stabbing pain. You also have a loss of appetite and for skeletons what would be considered an abnormal amount of weight loss. Is this correct?” Medic asked softly he seemed quite worried by these claims.

Sans nodded slumping in his chair, “I’ve also been sleeping a lot more. Though, when I wake up, I’m still tried. My body feels stiff and my aching is worse than it is throughout the day.” as Sans spoke, he started losing his lazy tone, he sat up slightly giving his full attention to the doctor in front of him. Medic nodded and looked at the clipboard again, it was most likely filled with information Ink had given him to help Medic make a proper diagnosis.

“It says here you had a broken arm three months ago. Can you tell me about that?” Medic asked in a serious tone, it sounded like he already had a vague idea of what was wrong with Sans.

It unsettled the skeleton, but he nodded and answered the question anyway. “I tripped, it surprised both me and Pap’s when my arm just snapped, the doctors at the time told me I just fell at a bad angle,” Sans explained briefly, Medic nodded and sighed he didn’t seem too happy with the overall answer.

“Do you mind if I take you down to the clinic and run a few tests. I have an idea of what it is, but I don’t want to be too hasty on this decision.” Sans’ chest felt heavy at the sound of his worried voice; it couldn’t be too bad right, there's no way it could be that serious. Sans stood up and nodded, he let Medic lead him to the clinic Ink closely following behind.

Sans sat in the clinic bed as Medic drew some bone marrow for testing. It didn’t take too long, maybe only ten or twenty minutes and the first maybe five minutes was just getting through the bone. Once Medic was sure he had enough to conduct the tests he needed he sealed the small test tube he had filled with Sans’ bone marrow. He set it next to the other two full ones on a small tray covered with a small white cloth. Sans was confused and worried when Medic’s attention was suddenly drawn to his leg, Sans shifted uncomfortably and shifted his leg a little away from Medic. Medic shook his head and lifted Sans’ leg looking at the lump in his leg, “How long has this been here?” Medic asked quickly still looking at the lump in surprise it was unusual to see lumps or palpitations form in bones.

Sans shrugged, “It showed up last year, but it didn’t bother me too much. I left it alone hoping it would go away.” Sans was back to his regular lazy tone hoping Medic would drop it. The lab coat wearing skeleton nodded and sighed letting his leg go.

“I’m going to go run these vials through some tests, I’ll be back.” Medic stood up from his swivel seat and grabbed the tray walking out of the clinic room. Sans sighed he just hopes it isn’t bad. Ink patted his back and gave him a reassuring smile. Sans tried to smile back, but he couldn’t help but be worried. The grey coloration of the walls didn’t help either it just gave the room a gloomy feeling. The white cabinets and counters helped brighten the room slight but that was the only bright thing in this room. Well, if you count the bright red contamination case for needed and other biohazards then the room had a little more color. But other than those few things the room was rather small, the bed he was propped up on was a darker grey a piece of paper between him and the bed. Ink sat in a small chair right next to his bed while playing with the brain model on the counter behind him. The bright blue and green posters read off facts that any child should know by now and others held some interesting facts to keep adults entertained well, that and the stack of magazines near the brain model. Sans sighed and looked up at the white ceiling it had a popcorn affected added to it giving the roof more texture.

Hours passed and sitting in the clinic room was less than desirable at this point. Ink huffed and set down the third magazine he had picked up and had been reading to pass time. The door opened slowly just as Ink had set the magazine down. Medic came into the clinic room with a glum look etched into his face as he held some papers. Sans who had started to fall asleep quickly woke up at the sound of Medic’s entrance shaking himself out of his tried trance. “What’s the news Doc!” Ink asked rather quickly, Sans just sat there quietly, he knew with that look it could be nothing good, and he wasn't too sure if he wanted to know anymore.

Medic sighed and sat down in his swivel seat grasping the papers in his hands tightly. “I’m so sorry Sans...but-” as soon as the words reached Sans the sudden weight of the situation hit him. He felt numb the world around him seemed to blur as Medic kept talking.

Sans’ eyes widened as Medic’s words seemed to be obscured, lost to the sound of static that echoed in his head. He trembled he expected it to be bad...but not this bad, he watched as Ink listened intently talking with Medic. They seemed locked into a deep conversation; Medic was probably talking about treatment plans and Ink was probably asking about the implications of such treatments...this...why did this happen to him…? He could feel tears slide down his cheeks. He felt dizzy like he wasn’t in his body anymore like he had just been watching a show this whole time. How was he going to tell Papyrus…? How would he explain this to his little brother? What was he going to do he doesn’t even have enough HP points to survive one punch to the arm! How was he going to survive this, or hell even tell Papyrus the wasn’t going to make it?!
