Stalker troubles
As Iorwen stepped out of the house, a curse slipped her tongue. The road was covered in snow and she hated this. She loved snowfall but the after effect was bad. Now it was suicidal to drive through this thick snow.
She called up Lucas who owned a Land rover to pick her up but they were already half way so she decided to drive anyway. All through the drive she had the uneasy feeling of being followed but when she didn't see anyone, she thought she was just being paranoid.
What was with her and the uneasy feeling? It has been five days since this feeling was nagging her. She didn't want to tell anyone since it will make her sound weak. Whenever she was alone she got the feeling of being spied on.
But she was rarely alone, Tristyn was like her shadow now. They talked a lot now and he even texted her though she ignored most of them. She hated texting and no one could change that.
She knew few things about him like he was few centuries old, the pendant she now had belonged to his sister, that he was not a vampire. He liked colour red, he was a MI series fan, not a reader but liked Harry Potter movies. Loved all superheroes she did.
His hobby included *surprise* pursuing girls and horse riding. Being invisible gave him advantage of doing many things even flying an airplane and attending a lesson free. Or taking medicine classes and be a pro at soccer. Iorwen realised that they had similar choices in movies, music and even tv series.
She had secretly promised herself that she will make him read a book.
It was like having a friend only to herself and one she enjoyed talking to. Though their talks were mostly flirting from his side and rude comments from her, she enjoyed those talks.
But even after all the talking, his reason of invisibility still remained a mystery and whenever she tried to talk about it he ignored the questions.
Suddenly her thoughts came to a halt when her car stopped. The car had managed to come across the entire snow covered road but now as she was driving on a plane road just slightly wet, the car suddenly stopped.
She immediately got down from the heated environment and tried to see what was wrong with the car. It was really cold and she was getting late for school so she decided to call her friends while she looked for something she could fix. She was very much familiar with car mechanics and has fixed it few times. But right then she couldn't spot any obvious problem.
But her luck was just getting worse when she noticed no signal on her phone. School was still at a distance too long for a walk.
And she had the feeling again, the feeling of being stalked. Her head turned to look for the culprit but like always there was nothing but fog. Shivering from cold, she sat inside her car and turned on the heat. There was no signal, the car was not working and there was no one around. She contemplated the options she had.
None.
She cursed under her breath. She switched off and switched on the mobile just in case but nothing happened. While she was doing this, she noticed someone walked past the car window. Her heart almost stopped, a hollow pit forming in her stomach.
Now, she was scared. She noticed a dark silhouette from her rear view mirror and another one approaching towards her from the thickness of fog. Her mind shot up in self defence and she looked for possible weapons. She carried a scissor, and fortunately there were bear bottles from the New Year eve, she would thank her friends later if she lived.
Though she was not a religious person but she prayed silently for the nightmare to end. The shadows was creeping her out and if it turned out to be some stupid guy, he was asking for dead.
The shadow cleared and there were five guys and she knew all of them.
Brandon and his gang of goons. But there was something different about them, they didn't sneer at her or gave her deathly glares. They looked like they were in a trance. The black of their eyes were replaced by a clouded grey and they moved towards her like a zombie.
She almost sighed in relief as she saw them; they were something she could handle.
"Brandon, don't tell me you ditched school for me?" She said in a taunting tone.
But he didn't reply, instead he just walked towards her. And as they got closer, she noticed they had a small knife in their hand.
A low gasp escaped her mouth. She knew that these guys were bullies, but killers?
"Brandon, what the hell is wrong with you?" She screamed to his face.
But he was not registering the fact she was screaming on his face.
All his goons surrounded her with knives in their hand.
"You have been following me around for past weeks?" She asked almost dumbfounded at this.
At this Brandon lips lifted into a dangerous smile and he nodded.
What the hell? She and Brandon had been enemies since she could remember but he had never stoop so low to hurt her fatally or stalk her. As far as she could remember all he did was verbally abuse her, she was the one who hit him and never the other way round.
He attacked her with the knife, but she ducked and kicked his legs. That affected his balance but he remained unharmed otherwise.
She did all she knew, she punched the other guys in their stomach, on their faces. She managed to successfully snatch knives from three of them. And it was not like she was not doing her best, their faces had scratches and their lips were bleeding from the punches.
But they got back up right again and tried to kill her.
The cold was weakening her and she was losing her strength. Her palm and finger nails were numb and blue. Had this been some normal encounter, they would have been lying injured and groaning in pain. But there was something wrong with them, it was like they were injured but could not feel the pain.
As she felt the pain seep from few cuts she encountered, her feet staggered and this allowed Brandon to push her to ground. He lifted his hand high to bring the knife down with full force but she used her feet to push him off. And this time he gasped out loud in pain.
Her eyes registered a blue car and a familiar face get down from it. Brandon was now writhing in pain, unable to get up. It felt as if all the kicks and punches she hit him with was affecting now.
Kai Arden walked up to her with immense worry in his eyes. She smiled lightly to convey she was fine since she was in no condition to talk.
He immediately took off his over coat and covered Iorwen in it. She was grateful for this since she was freezing. Then she noticed that all Kai was wearing was a grey cardigan. She immediately returned the coat to him.
"I am not s-selfish." She said glaring him into taking it back.
She walked to his car without asking or anything and sighed in immense relief.
"Are you alright?" He finally asked in a soft voice.
She nodded running her fingers through her hair in an attempt to straighten them. Her knuckles were bleeding, there were some other injuries and she was almost freezing to death.
"I am fine." She lied effectively.
She hated all the fuss and being looked after. It means you have to answer all the unnecessary questions and hovered upon. Being an orphan, she was habitual to no care.
"What happened?"
"Brandon just lost it and came with his gang to .. to kill me I guess." She said still not sure this happened.
Kai just nodded carefully.
"But there was something weird about them. It looked like they were all in trance."
Kai looked at her with speculative eyes.
"And no I am not traumatized so this is not my imagination. I did kick their asses if you noticed." She said now relaxing down.
"Well that you did!" He said with a proud smile.
After a while of silence she said, "Umm...thank you."
Kai wanted to ask for what and start another conversation but he knew how she might be feeling right then. So he just nodded and smiled in acknowledgement.
"So, I guess I am late for school."
She said not able to express her gratitude well to Kai who had been nice enough to help her even though she still wanted to ask how come he knew where to find her.
Kai chuckled at her attempt to talk.
"I guess you are."
At this she smiled slightly. She decided, Kai was not that bad.
*****
"WHAT THE HELL FOGHANA!?" Kai stormed in furious at her.
"Now what did I do?" She asked with innocence and sickly sweet voice.
"You charmed those boys to attack her and therefore they were so immune to her defence. They are in hospital now and she is badly injured too." He was seething in rage, a red glow emitting from him.
Foghana was scared but she didn't show it.
"I am just helping you darling, I noticed how she didn't give you a second glance. I just turned you into her white knight." She said giving him a slant smile and raised her brows to indicate if he understood.
His harsh breathing started to calm a bit.
"So you knew I will reach there and break their spell?" He asked acidly.
She nodded with a pout.
"Foghana I have lived with you long enough to know about your dirty tricks. And I was not even the white knight, she did almost all the work. I was just a chauffeur."
"I detest her Kai and it's not cool that my husband fancies her. I am a woman and I get jealous." She stated truthfully walking away gracefully flipping back her gorgeous blonde hair.
"So you are going to go against me and trouble her?" Kai almost said it like a challenge.
Foghana stopped and turned to look at him with a evil smile.
"Now you can't blame me for fighting for you my love. Like they say, everything is fair in love and war!" She said emphasizing on both love and war.
Kai was left baffled as his wife almost accepted his unsaid challenge. He winced mentally as he realised this was dangerous for Iorwen!
