Skylar POV

I managed to avoid Connor all week at school and ignore his phone calls and texts. I have seen him with that douche all around school so I have no idea why he is even calling me when he clearly made his choice. I have hung out with Aiden Ethan Ally and Eli also Jazmin and Jazlyn. We eat lunch together and they help me avoid Connor. They know about him and that dude so they are also pissed at him but they seem pissed for more than what is going on but I don't push it, they'll tell me if they want me to know.

They come over to my house each day after school because I refuse to go to the pack house because I don't want to see my ex boyfriend with another guy more than I have to. I guess we're not together anymore since he is all over that other guy while looking at me when were in the halls of school.

He hasn't come to the house though which shouldn't surprise me or upset me but it does, I want to talk to him alone, not in school around other people and I know if we talk in school, it won't be in detail like I need it to be which is why I have been avoiding him and also I'm still so pissed off and hurt at what he did but I can't deny that I want to be in his arms, to talk to him, to be near him but I won't, not until he comes to me alone and talks to me and I'll see about giving him another chance and trust him again.

I decided to go to a few towns over since it's Friday after school to go swimming. I love the water and the lake there is beautiful. My family and I went camping one weekend there and I loved it.

"Hey da, do you have plans with Ashley this weekend?" I asked my da when I walked into the living room to find him laying on the couch watching TV.

"Just to go see Liz on Sunday, why?" He asked sitting up.

"Well I wanted to take her to the lake, just me and her for the weekend. I'll make sure were back by Sunday mid morning so we can go see Liz. I just need some of her sweet nature right now."

"Ok sure son. Want me to pack her things?"

"Nope I got it. You just relax, you had a long week at work da. I love you I'll be back down in a bit." I kissed his cheek and went up to my room.

"I love you too son!" Da yelled after me and I chuckled. I packed a small bag of a couple outfits and toiletries and went to my little beautiful princess room, I am her temporary guardian even though my dads are home so I take care of her most of the time.

"Hey beautiful, do you want to go to the lake this weekend with me?" I asked softly as I runned her soft cheek. She is sleeping on the floor on a pile of stuffed toys around a tea party. She opens her pretty eyes and looks up at me and smiles so wide when she sees me.

"What did you ask?" She asked while rubbing her eyes.

"I asked my beautiful princess if she wanted to go to the lake with me this weekend?" Once I said that she shot up and ran to her dresser and pulled out her one piece bathing suit and a couple outfits and her little hat and she ran to her closet and got her sandals and sneakers. She put her sandles on and put her stuff in my bag that I brought in with me.

"Ready!"

"No your not, you need to get your hair stuff because darling, those curls can't be not taken care of so grab your brush, the moose two scrunchies and the leave in conditioner. Also your shampoo than you will be ready." I listed off the remaining items she needs and she goes to grab it all. She walks back out with her small brush and the scrunchies wrapped around the handle and the handle in her mouth and her little arms carrying the other stuff. I smile at her and grab the brush and she moves her mouth a few times and giggles. She puts the stuff on the bed and places them in the side pocket of my bag.

"Ok now are we ready?" She asked while placing her hands on her small hips.

"Yes princess we are. Go give love and we'll go." I picked up the bag and walked out after a running giggling Ashley. She runs to da and dad and gives them a hug and kiss and tells them she loves them and runs outside to my car and waits for me.

"Be careful and have fun. If you need anything call. I loaded the tent and sleeping bags in the backseat and trunk. Your dad packed the cooler and it's in the front seat along with a lighter and lighter fluid. You'll have to get bread or buns though and drinks. We planned on going grocery shopping this evening as we are out of some stuff and drinks and bread are some of them. We love you. Go miss Ashley is getting impatient." Da said and we all hugged and I walked outside and opened the back door for Ashley and she got into her carseat. After she was buckled in, I got in and we were off.

As I was driving I put on kid music and Ashley and I sang along and I loved it, I love hearing her giggles and seeing her smile. I made a quick stop with her to get a pack of buns a loaf of bread and a pack of koolaid jammers, some water and Sprite. After we were done we left and were back on the road again.

"Sky sky, how come Connor hasn't been around the house?" She asked after a bit more of driving.

"Something happened and I don't want to see him right now princess but don't you worry, if we aren't together doesn't mean you can't be friends with him." I said to her. Her and Connor have bonded a lot over the past two months and she sees him as family, just like da and dad do.

"Ok. I'm sorry your mad at him but I hope you will be happy with him again because I don't like seeing you sad."

"I'm not sad, how can I be when I have you in my life?" I asked and she giggled.

"Good point, I am pretty great." She said and I laughed.

"Oh yes you are princess. I love you baby girl."

"I love you sky sky." She went back to her singing after that and the rest of the ride was peaceful.

We get to the lake and she helps me with the light stuff and we carry it to an open spot a little away from the other campers but not to far where we are isolated from everyone. We make a few trips until the car is unloaded and she helps me set the two person tent up and she puts a queen size blanket down and she rolls our sleeping bags out on top of it and places the camping pillows on them and the extra blanket on each.

"Can we go in the water? I'm hot." She asked and grabbed her bathing suit out of the bag.

"Sure. Get changed and we'll go after I change. I'm not leaving you alone so when your done I will need you to turn around and place your hands over your closed eyes so I can change. I'll be quick I promise and I'll do the same for you." I said and she nodded.

After we were changed we left the tent with towels in our hands and sunblock on. I closed the tent and we made our way to the water.

Ashley runs in without paying attention and the water swallows her up but I'm not worried, she is a fish I swear. I see her little head pop up and she laughs a deep belly laugh and I laugh along with her and walk into the water. We swim around and play in the water for a while and she has made some friends so after a bit I'm forgotten as she plays with the kids and collects stones and their laughter fills the open air. Some kids my age are making their way to me and I nod at them and they sit down on the bank next to me.

"Hey man." One guy said to me. He's a short guy with black hair and green eyes, lean build and nice smile.

"Hey." I greeted back.

"Is that your daughter playing with my little siblings?" Another guy asked, he's tall and is built like a tank with brown hair and blue eyes.

"Sorta. Long story but yea that's Ashley and I'm Skylar."

"I'm Martin, Noah and Matt." The short guy, Martin introduced everyone and himself.

"Are you here alone with just your daughter?" Noah asked.

"Yea, just a weekend away with my princess. My dads know where we are in case I'm needed though. I needed a weekend away with all the stuff going on in my life."

"Girlfriend troubles?" Matt asked and I rolled my eyes.

"More like boyfriend troubles or maybe ex, I'm not even sure at this point but I came here to just have a weekend away from it all you know." I said and they all nodded.

"My girl just found out she's pregnant and told me to leave her alone so we decided to come for a swim, we live in town so no need to camp out." Matt said chuckling.

"Congratulations on your baby. How long have you been with your girl?" I asked and he looked in thought for a few seconds.

"Six years, since we were sixteen. Hell of a time we have had so far." He said while smiling.

"That's awesome. I was with someone before I moved out here and it was amazing but I had to leave. I met someone and we started dating and things went to hell on Monday and I don't know what to do. I fell in love with him and found him with another guy in his living room after school Monday and haven't spoke to him since I punched both of them and ran out. I want to talk to him but alone and not in school. Not in front a bunch of nosy teenagers who gossip like it's their lifeline."

"If he wants to be with you, he will do his best to make it work. No idea about your situation but if it's meant to be, it'll work out." Martin said and patted my shoulder.

"Thanks." I said and looked over and saw Ashley and the other kids get out of the water.

"Can we have dinner now, I'm hungry." She asked as she sat on my lap and put her head on my chest.

"Yea, let's go see what we have ok?" I asked and I wrapped my arms around her and stood up.

"It was nice meeting you guys but I gotta feed a hungry tired girl. We'll be here till Sunday morning if y'all want to come hang out tomorrow, brings your partners and we can hang out if you want. Ashley say bye to your friends." She raised her head and said bye to the kids and I made my way to our campsite and sat her down in her chair and opened the cooler. Deciding on hotdogs with chips and fruit, we eat dinner after its done and grab some clothes and go take quick showers after I made sure it was empty. I can't have her shower on her own and with no interruptions from anyone finished our showers and went to the tent and laid down to get some sleep.

Saturday was filled with having fun in the water and playing games with the guys I met and their partners and I had a good time but it ended to quickly and now we're heading back home. This weekend is what I needed. Time with my little princess always puts me in a good mood.
