Amber

It might seem like reading through a Quantum ledger would be super mystical and fun...no, it is sleep inducing. It was my turn to read the book and these people have family details, spells and runes.

It was like reading an old age book with nothing interesting to keep you awake.

I was about to stumble back to sleep when a white wolf leapt through my window and I yelped. The wolf gave me a amused look and I realised it was Marc.

"Honey, something wrong?" My mom called out.

"Nothing mom, just a – a cat." I lied and saw Marc convert from a wolf to a cat.

I stifled a laughter.

"What are you doing here and where is Laserian?" I asked the animal.

Marc now turned into human and it was still unsettling to watch him do that.

"I am here to keep you safe and updated." He said making himself comfortable on my bed.

I jumped off and locked the door just in case mom or Candice walked in and saw a boy in my room, on my bed.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, Liosa is playing the innocent spy today and Laser is there if something goes wrong." He explained.

Stupid jealously crept inside my nerves.

"No need to be jealous M, he is there because Liosa took this task for you. Laser didn't want anyone to be responsible when it comes to you." He said looking amused.

"Who said I was jealous?" I asked defiantly.

"Your expressions." He teased.

I huffed and tried to look annoyed. So yes I was jealous and it might be a pity emotion but it came nevertheless.

"I have not seen him smiling and laughing as much before you came around M. He was this cold blooded, order following soldier. Some say he was heartless and some think he is a monster.

But then you came along and the ice around him started melting. I have never seen someone effect his nerves the way you did. First he was annoyed with you and now he can't get enough of you." Marc said gently.

His words took me by surprise, it felt like a romance novel where a girl has such a good influence over boys life. It felt outwardly yet kind of satisfying how much Ian opened up to me.

Marc's phone buzzed and he picked up.

"She is here and safe. She is fine. " He said and waited for someone on the next end to say something.

He rolled his eyes to whatever the person over the phone said.

"I understand my duties, douche. And I will bring her to cafe after half an hour." He said sighing tiredly as if he was nagged by a parent.

"Let me guess, Laserian?" I asked with an amused grin at him.

"Ah! Who else. He wants to check how you are and if I am still watching you like a hawk." He said dryly.

I laughed, partially finding it funny and partially because I was happy how Ian was still thinking about my safety.

"Why do we have to go to cafe in half hour?"

"Terian and Liosa will be in the house, while Terian's phone will be on. We will be listening to them together." He said excited about the whole thing.

I felt the thrill about the whole spy mission but deep down I was worried and to some level scared.

"Now stop mopping M, lets look through this book. Laser is the one protecting you, I can assure you that is the best you can get." He said opening the book.

"I know, he is the best I can get." I mumble to myself feeling grateful to the destiny.

Marc was a reader, how did I come to realise this? Even when we walked to cafe, he was reading through that book.

"Marc, attention on the road please?" I said.

"I am multitasking." He said still engrossed in the book.

We reached the cafe and settle down. Ian was not there yet , so I started reading the book as well.

The bell dinged and I looked up to find him and my heart responding to his presence. I don't think I can get habitual of him.

His eyes found mine and he gave me a smile that made me sigh.

"Oh, Romeo is here." Marc said not looking up knowing probably from my sigh.

"Liosa is at mansion, she and Terian are there to talk about the album details with Eibhir. And they will go sneaking around. Terian will call once the search begins." He said and sat next to me, almost close enough that out thighs touched.

"I will get some coffee for us." I said not sure I can breathe now.

Ian's hand caught my hand and stopped me, "Sit, please Amber." He said softly.

"No PDA guys, I can feel the sexual tension between the two." Marc said still flipping through the book.

As if Laserian was rebelling he bent towards me and kissed me lightly on lips. I had to gasp at his sudden kiss but it did sent a shot of pleasure through me.

Marc chuckled at us, "I knew if I said no PDA then you would disobey."

Ian scoffed at him and kept his hold on my hand.

His phone rang and we immediately became alert. Terian was calling.

"We are in Hoods library." Liosa said in a whisper.

"Why there?" Marc asked now bending over table to talk.

"To see if we have same journal as Quantums." Terian whispered.

"There is but it is in Dad's room." Marc informed then and shrugged proudly at us.

Ian rolled his eyes at him.

"How the hell are we suppose to go in there?" Liosa whispered furiously this time.

"Eibhir is not at home right now." Ian said these words surprising us all.

"Where is dad, one should follow him." Marc said in a stiff tone.

"No, we need the prophecy to prove that Amber is not a danger." Ian ordered harshly.

This time I gripped his hand gently to keep him in check. He sighed at my touch as if feeling defeated.

"What is prophecy did say she is evil, then?" Liosa asked bluntly causing me to wince.

And all it took for Ian to growl, there were no ifs and whats.

For a while there was some shuffling and whispering noise indicating that those two were busy sneaking and working. Marc was back to reading again. I was too nervous to do anything, Instead my legs were shaking like hell.

Liosa was right, what if I was some hidden dark evil...witch or something? Will Ian kill me then? Will he still protect me?

My heart ached at the thought.

"Isla just saw me snooping around." Liosa sounded terrified.

Shit, me and Marc muttered in unison.

"Hey Isla."

"Liosa dear what are you doing in study?" Isla asked.

"Umm...I was trying to...to find Eibhir. I have something important to ask." She lied tremble clear in her voice.

"Eibhir just got back home but he is in meeting with someone." Isla said not sounding suspicious of her.

"Oh, Okay then I will wait outside and wait for him." Liosa said.

"Sure."

After a while silence continued.

"Phew! That was close." I said it out in relief.

"Eibhir is having a meeting. Did you have an idea?" Ian asked Marc who shrugged in response.

"Should I check who he is meeting?" Terian asked who was probably behind the study table hiding from Isla.

"No, the prophecy first, it will save M's life." Marc said obviously conflicted with the decision.

"How about we split up, I will look for the prophecy thingy and Terian can check out the meeting?"Liosa suggested.

"Fine, but you will remain unconnected to us for that long." Ian said sounding a little worried.

"I have my own phone, I will call of necessary. My scent will not catch attention." She said.

And I realised she was really brave, walking in house full of shapeshifters to spy.

We have to wait for a while and just hear Terian humming to himself, which made me chuckle.

"He is trying to act casual but he is nervous." Ian explained his humming.

"What if Eibhir hears him?" I asked worried about him.

"He is a Hood member, he can walk anywhere. Liosa is in there because as a human she will not leave a specific scent, like our maids and servants." Ian explained.

"Is this interesting?" I asked a very busy Marc.

"No, but it tells us lot of stuff." He answered busy in the book.

He was almost half way through it.

Suddenly we heard Terian gasp and we were all alert.

"What?" Ian urgently whispered.

"Meeting." Terian whispered.

"Who is it?" I asked a painful knot forming in my gut.

"Shit." This was Marc as his eyes lifted from the book.

And Terian and Marc at the same time, "Talfryn!"

"Huh?" I was not sure what to say, what to understand.

"Eibhir is in meeting with Ailis Mattix." Terian said sounding totally shocked.

"And Mattix family is listed in Quantum bloodline."Marc added his information from the book we had.

Haha! ending was something I came up at spot. Ailis Talfryn? What the hell is she doing? Is she here for some Hoods album related meeting or something else ;)
