~Chapter Four~

"Attention all passengers please prepare for landing arrival time 11:00am"

I heard the lady say over the intercom through my music. I pulled out my headphones and put my iPod and everything away in my purse. I looked at Luke who was still sleeping and woke him up. "what?" "get up we are landing in a couple minutes." "ok.'' he rubbed his eyes and sat up. when we landed we stood up got our stuff and followed the people out of the plane. we walked out of the airplane and went over to baggage claim. we got our bags and went outside to get a taxi to the rental car place. it wasn't very long from the airport to the rental car location, and the process of getting one for a few days was surprisingly not too bad either.

It was now five in the evening and I was putting my stuff in the car so me and luke can head over to my mom's. " are you sure she won't mind one more person?" "Luke you have been my best friend for years of course she won't mind. but where is your stuff?" "oh it's in the car i will get it." he went to his car and stuck it in the back with my stuff. we got in the car and drove to my mom's house.

It was about a 10-minute ride and Luke was talking about how we can stay in his California home out in L. A and that we will have so much fun.

when we got to my mom's we walked into the house with food hitting us and brought a smile to my face.

I ran to the table and was greeted by a surprised mom and a non-surprised Dan. We sat down and started to talk. "so Dan how is your YouTube channel going?" "it's going great I love it, how is your modeling job going?" "it's good but I just wish I could be a scene model instead of a regular model." "you can you know." 'I can?!" "Yes." "holy shit I'ma talk to Karren about this!'' "watch that language." Mom said as she sat down. "sorry." "Hello Luke." she said with a smile. " hi how are you?" "good you." "great."

We stopped talking to eat after prayer, and we soon finished our food around 7 7:30. we had time to kill so me and Dan went out to get ice cream while Luke and Mom cleaned up and picked out a movie.

"so Dan how is Skylar?" "good do you have a boyfriend?" "no why do you ask?" "well cause after your break up with Drew you haven't had a boyfriend." my grip tightened on the wheel and Dan noticed. "sorry I didn't mean to bring up feelings that you don't want." "it's fine I guess I can tell, someone about this finally." "about the reason why you two broke up?" "yeah."

"so you know that day I came to Mom and told her I didn't know how I felt about mine and his relationship?" "Yeah, and you spent the rest of your life until you went to college living with us." "right well when I went to school to talk to him I saw him-" I stopped and sighed then spoke again. "I saw him with a woman on top of him in the process of having sex." "What?!" "Dan calm down it happened three years ago." "but still I thought he loved you, Mom and I approved of him!" "yes I know but it was too good to be true." "Miranda." "no Dan I was a fool to think I could have a guy, have a good relationship, and be happy i should have kept my guard up and never gone out with him nor had any contact with him besides teacher-student-wise." "Well you shouldn't have, you did so there must be a reason behind it."

This got me thinking there had to be a reason behind it so what was the reason?

After dinner, we got settled in, Luke my old room with me of course. it was better than I remember. the mint green walls the bed by the window it was cool.

I set my bags in my closet went and laid on my bed and fell asleep because I was jet lagged it was only a couple hours but that is a lot to me.

When I woke up the sun was shining through the blinds. I rubbed my eyes knowing I didn't have on makeup. I swung my legs over the bed and let them hang off.

I set my feet on the cold wood floor and a shiver went up my spine. I walked towards my bathroom and I looked at my face in the mirror. my brown hair was up in a bun that was halfway out of the hair tie. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I redid my hair and put it up in a bun.

I walked downstairs and saw Luke eating cereal at the table. "hey." I said tired. "hey." he said with a mouth full. "what are you doing?" "eating and hey are you going to the photo shoot today or is it tomorrow?" "It's tomorrow but today I'm going to go around town want anything?" "Nah I'm good." "Kay." I got my monster out of the fridge and went back to my room to get dressed.

I put on red skinny jeans my asking Alexandria band tee and my butt load of bracelets. I did my hair with my bangs to the side and my hair teased a little. I put on black eye shadow and eyeliner with no lipstick. I put on my black Converse and grabbed my little purse I put it over my shoulder and put my money and phone in there.

I went downstairs and with my monster in hand, I walked out the door and started to walk around town since it wasn't that big. I walked to my favorite stores that were like hot topics but they weren't. I got some bracelets and posters and make-up. I then got another monster from this little drink shop down a block from my house.

I walked to about 4 different stores and bought something from each one. everything was going great until someone spotted me. I didn't think they would notice since I'm my scene self and not how they see me in magazines but I guess that didn't work.

"look there's Miranda!" and then a group of girls and some guys came running after me and I ran for it like a bear was chasing me. I booked it. I ran until I slowed down because I didn't hear the screams or running anymore. I noticed that I was at the diner I used to come to when I was dating...

never mind get that thought out of my head.

I walked inside and sat down at the bar. "can I have a coke please I haven't had that in a while" "Sure." the bartender said turning around. "Miranda!" "shhh!!!!!!!" I said lifting myself off the seat while outing my hand over his mouth, "what?" he whispered. "well I'm a model and there was a group of kids chasing after me so please speak my name on the DL." "oh ok, how's the fame and fortune?" fine but I just want to be myself in the pictures." "Then be a scene model there are a lot of kids who are scene or goth or gore models." "I know Gabe but I still have to call Karren my manager." "Then do it I will bring you your drink." I smiled at him as he walked away.

gabe was cool he was in his 30s now and I had known him since I was 10 and moved to this town. I pulled out my phone and called Karren. "hey Miranda darling how are you did you get here safely?" "yes and hi Karren I needed to ask you something?" "sure what is it?" "um well, I want to be a scene model instead of what I am now." "why?" "because Karren you found me as a scene girl and im still am so I want to be a scene model." ' I will see what I can do but you will still be coming for the New Year photo shoot right?" "Yeah, I will speaking of that how was your New Year's?" "It was fine yours?" "I didn't celebrate it and Luke was on the plane here when it became 12." "Oh sorry to hear that." "It's okay there's always next year," I said goodbye and hung up as Gabe brought me my drink.

"so what did she say?" "She said she will see what she can do." 'ok then and I think there is someone you might want to see here" he smiled and I gave him a confused look and he pointed behind me in a booth across the room. "oh no!" "What?!" "I don't want to see him!" "why not? he has been in here every day since the day you broke up nonstop speaking about you." for some reason that brought a smile to my face." really?" "Yes and if you don't want to get back together with him at least go say hi it's been 4 years since you two spoke or seen each other."

I gave a half smile unsure what to do and he sighed and went around the counter and pushed me over to him. he looked up and I gave a scared look but smiled and waved a little. his eyes widened and brightened up. "Miranda?!" "hi, drew."

"sit sit." he sorta begged. I sat down across from him and I was shocked he didn't hate me even though I'm the one who should hate him for what he did to me. but I didn't hate him I was just...hurt. "how have you been?" "Good, you?" "fine, it just sucks being here without you.." "oh.." I said awkwardly. "listen Miranda I need to explain that day It really wasn't what it looked like I swear." I gave him a "go on" look.

DREW P.O.V

"that day I was just getting ready to leave to go home and the woman you saw me with just came in and literally opened my shirt and hers and was doing what you saw her do when you came in." she lowered her head. and she put her hands underneath her hair going to her ears when I grabbed her wrists and looked her in the eyes. "please don't mute me as you do with the rest of the world." she lowered her hands from her hearing aids and looked at me, "Miranda words cant be put together to tell you how much I miss you and still love you please will you take me back?"

"no," she said plainly and walked out. my heart broke into a million pieces. "hi drew." I heard someone say. the words snapped me out of my dreams. and my heart rate slowed sped up and I was relieved to know that was a dream just a dream...

I have been reseeing that dream ever since she left. like one day she would come back. but instead of us getting back together that would happen. it frightened me because I knew she wouldn't come back here until I saw her face right now. my heart sped up like 10 racehorses. a smile grew on my face as I looked up into her beautiful bright green eyes. "sit please if you have time." she sat down in front of me and her red hair had turned brown and it was longer. "how have you been?" "Good I'm a model now so I have been a little busy here and there." "oh, that's awesome." "Where do you work?" she asked. "oh just the same job as you once left." "You still teaching huh." she said with a smile. "yeah I have and I have been writing too." "Really I would love to hear-....uh read them unless they aren't good enough for the public yet."

I smile ignoring the fact she changed her heart to read. "how is your hearing?" "so how is work?" she completely ignored my question." "Miranda." 'what?" "did you lose it?" "what do you mean?" "I know you, Miranda." "I have to go it was good seeing you again drew." she got up and left.

Gabe came sighing walked over to me and sat down. "she is still hurt by that day but she still likes you." "I know but there is something else that is bothering her right now." I got up and left. I went to my car and was going to see if Miranda still lived in the house she had before she left when I saw her walking on the sidewalk. I rolled down my window and yelled at her. "Miranda!" she didn't hear me so I stopped the car and got out and went to her.

"do you need a ride?" she just nodded as she wiped the tears from her face and put away her phone.

as she got in and we buckled up I drove to her house. "how do you use the phone?" "it has a special thing in it." she said quietly." "I thought you were going to get the surgery?" "I did.." "It made it worse?" "Yeah, I'm just thankful for at least hearing what I can."

I laid my hand on her leg as we pulled up to a stop light, "Miranda I'm here for you if you need to talk or something." 'I know drew it's just I haven't forgiven you for that day and I don't think I can." she as she got out when we pulled into her driveway.

I sat back in my seat and sat there with a blank look. no emotion besides heartbreak and disappointment.

MIRANDA P.O.V

I walked out of the diner after talking to Drew and I was halfway down the street when I got a text from my mom.

MOM- Baby I'm so sorry but the doctor said you are permanently stuck like this;-;

I stopped where I was and just started to cry. no cry isn't even the word for it I started to sob. I stood there for like 3 minutes before someone touched me and it was drawn. "do you need a ride?" all I did was nod. "how do you use the phone?" "it has a special thing in it." I thought you were going to get the surgery?" "I did.." "It made it worse?" "Yeah I'm just thankful for at least hearing what I can," I said with my voice breaking. he laid his hand on my leg and I just stared at his hand.

"Miranda is here for you if you need to talk or something." 'I know Drew it's just I haven't forgiven you for that day and I don't think I can." with that being said I got out when we pulled into my driveway. it was true I haven't forgiven him for that day. he has been sticking with the same story for all this time so maybe it is true what I saw wasn't what had happened.

but I can't face him right now I have too much to handle.

I walked inside and Luke was eating pizza. "eating again?!" "Hey, a person can eat more than once a day ok!" "but that's how I left you 4 hours ago!" "so I got hungry within 4 hours." "fine but I want some," I said throwing my things on the couch hopped up on the table, and start
