Rose's POV

"Rose. Wake up. It's time to eat dinner." Amir said as he shook me.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was in my room. I got up, put some shoes on and walked downstairs with Amir and Lux following me. When I got downstairs, I walked right past the dining room and straight to the front door. 

"Rose? Where are you going at 10 o'clock at night? You have school tomorrow." David said from the dining room

"I'm going for a walk because unlike you, I'm most awake at night." I said as I walked out the door with Lux quietly and obediently following me.

Me and Lux walked around town for about ten minutes before we found the first fighting space. It was fairly large and had a lot of cars and motorcycles parked outside. The building itself looks like a very large storage space. When I walked in, there was a big crowd of people surrounding a ring. In the ring were two guys fighting each other. One guy had black hair and blue eyes and the other guy guy had blond hair and light green eyes. Blondie looked worn out and tired while Blue eyes wasn't even out of breath. 

I watched as Blondie kept making mistake after mistake. He must be a newbie in order for him to make that many mistakes. The fight ended when Blue eyes landed a hard punch to the gut. Blondie wrapped his arms around his gt and dropped to the floor while the crowd started cheering.

"The winner and champion in our underground fight is Black Storm!" The manager announced as he looked back at his clipboard that I think has the fights written on it.

"I have bad news folks. The last fight has been cancelled since the challenger backed out."

"Boooooooo." the crowd started to say

"I know. I know. So,if anyone from the audience would like to challenge our champ, please step up to the ring."

I looked around to see if anyone was going to challenge the guy but nobody volunteered. So, I walked through the crowd and onto the stage. Before I jumped on stage, I bent down to Lux and told him to stay. He barked once and laid down. Once he was comfortable, I stepped into the ring.

"I'd like to challenge him." I said

"I'm sorry. You? You wouldn't last a minute with me, little girl." Storm said

"Wanna bet?" I asked

"Fine. If I win, you walk outta here nude."

"Okay. Then what do I get if I win?"

"Three things. I will do three things for you. Do we have a deal?"

"Deal."

"Alright then. Let's start Alex."

"The last fight of the night is between Black Storm and...who are you?" Alex asked me

"Bloody Reaper."

"And Bloody Reaper. Fight." He said as he jumped out of the ring

Once he jumped out of the ring, I started the fight by going for his face . He blocked me with his left arm and tried to punch me in the gut with his right arm. I grabbed his arm and flipped him over me and onto the ground. He laid there for a minute trying to regain his breath and I took the chance to straddle him and put my elbow to his throat, effectively cutting off his air. When he was almost out of air, he tapped out therefore giving up. I let released him and looked over at the manager. His face was hilarious. His jaw was practically on the floor. Then I looked out to the crowd and saw that there faces were the same way. I walked up to the manager and snapped my fingers.

"Oh. Right. The winner and new champion is Bloody Reaper." he said

"Storm, here is what I want you to do. One: buy me stuff whenever I ask you to. Two: be at the mall on Saturday by 10 o'clock AM. Three: show me other places where I could fight.

"There is no way that I am agreeing to those terms."

"I thought guys were a man of their words but I guess it doesn't apply to you. Even more so since you came up with the stakes. Wouldn't you agree folks?" I addressed the crowd.

They erupted into cheers and cries of agreement. They even started chanting my name. I then turned to Storm.

"So what's it gonna be? Are you gonna swallow your pride and do what I say or are you gonna let down this crowd who came to see a fight?"

He nodded his head in defeat.

"Good. Now I'm going to need you to sign this paper that state the three things I have asked from you. Your signature proves that you have agreed and will do as promised." I explained as he signed the paper.

Once he was finished, I grabbed his arm, called for Lux and walked out the building with them. That's basically how my night went. I went to the other four underground fighting places, challenged the champ, beat the champ and have champ sign the paper. By the time I was on my way home, I had five guys in debt to me and five places where I could fight. Before I went home, I bought a red bandanna for Lux. 

"Well Lux, its about time we head back. There is a bed that is calling our names."

WHIMPER

"What's that sound? It sounds like a..."

WHIMPER

"Puppy." I said as I dashed around the corner.

I couldn't believe what I saw. It was a German Shepherd puppy that was black and dark brown. It was also very dirty. When he saw me, he barked and limped towards me. His front right paw was hurt. I picked him up and held him in my arms.

"Hey there little guy. Were you unwanted too? We know how you feel. Both me and Lux here were both unwanted." The little puppy just licked my face."Lets get you to a vet first. That way, you won't be in pain anymore."

So instead of going back to my residence, like I know I should have, I went to the vet 2 o'clock in the morning. Once we arrived at the office, I tried to hand the little guy to the doctor but he wouldn't let go of me. Thanks to that, I had to hold him while the doctor checked his paw. I looked at his tag and it said Sanders.

"It's just a minor sprain, Nothing to worry about." He said as he wrapped his paw."If he rests for about a week, he should be better."

"That's good. When I found him hurt and alone, I didn't know what I should've done."

"Found?"

"Yes. I found him in a wet box on the street. I couldn't just leave him there. I was hoping you could find a good home for him."

"I would've loved to find him a home but it seems he is already taken with you. Why don't you give him a name?"

"Hmmm. How about Cor? Since Lux is my light, why don't you be my heart?" He responded by wagging his little tail and licking my hand.

"Okay, Cor it is then."

"Light and Heart huh? Can I ask why you picked those names?" the doctor asked    

"Well Mr. Sanders, think of it like this. No matter how much a person does, there is always something that they can't obtain. Scientists, for example, are always searching for the answers to some kind of mystery but most die before they can reach that goal."

"But people will eventually find the answers. As long as people live." he said

"True. But then what? If they find the answers, that'll be one goal accomplished, but what do people do after that? Sit on their asses, satisfied? No, they find another goal to work towards. They keep accomplishing stuff only to create more things they want to work for that they might not even be alive to see the finished product."

"The dead pass it on to the living so that they can see it be done from the afterlife."

"Oh spare me the afterlife crap. You are doctor. Do you seriously believe that the afterlife exists? I'm not a religious person but even I have read a little bit of the bible. It said that God created humans from dirt. That's all we are. Do you know what happens when someone dies?"

"The people left behind mourn that person. Everyone does that when a person they know dies."

"Yeah? Then what about years after that person's death? The number of people who actually remember that person drops more and more until that person is totally forgotten."

"That's-"

"Don't you dare say that what I said is not true because i know you have seen it before. Somebody dying and being forgotten over time."

He just stood there, looking away guiltily. I looked at the time and saw that I had only a few more hours until Amir and David wake up. I got up holding Cor in my arms and walked to the door. When I was almost out the door, I turned back to the doctor.

"That is the answer to the question you asked me."

"What is?" He said as he picked his head up to look at me

"No matter how much a person works, there is always something that that person can never attain. They could be as strong as the strongest animal or as smart as the smartest person, but there will be something that is unattainable to that person. See ya Doc. I'll pay you on Saturday." I said as I walked out the door.

Doctor Sanders

"That girl has been through a lot." I said

"Who? The girl who just left?" Sandra, my sister, said

"Yes, the girl who just left. The way she looks and talks, she sounds older than she actually is."

"You're right. That girl is only sixteen. She gives off the air of a person in her twenties."

"I bet David could do something about her. What do you think?"

"I think it's a good idea. But David just got a daughter. In fact, he invited us over this Friday for dinner so we could meet her. I heard that she is very pretty."

"I wonder how pretty she is?"

"For your sake, I hope she's average looking since you have a habit of 'flirting with' girls who are really pretty."

"We'll just have to wait until friday then."

The next day(rose's POV)

"Rose!!!!!! Where were you last night?" David yelled as soon as he saw me in the kitchen this morning. I got home an  hour before Amir and David woke up so I just stayed downstairs and started to fix something to eat.

"I was out touring the town. Do you really think that I am going to remain ignorant of how to get around by myself?"

"But you are a young lady! You should not be out late at night by yourself. We were worried about you."

"Worried? You were worried about me?" I asked as I studied their faces.

Living like I was living, I developed the ability to be able to tell if someone is lying by looking at their face. When I look at their faces, all I see are two guys with unflinching gazes. Their eyes are as clear as natural spring water. They showed genuine worry for me. After studying their faces for a little while longer, I sighed. I got up from my chair, got out three plates, put them on the table and put food on them. They looked at me with confused faces.

"I fixed a little too much food. You can have some if you want. However, it's going in the trash when I leave for school, so you better get some now." I said as I started eating.

They looked at each other, briefly, before sitting down. Once they sat down, they took a bite of their food. The next thing I know, Amir has tears running down his cheeks.

"This is...soooooo good! Who taught you to cook like this? It's amazing!" he said

"He's right. I've never tasted anything as good as this. Even Amir's cooking pales in comparison to yours." David said before scarfing down his food. I just watched the two of them eating like they haven't eaten in a  month.                                                                             "Do you really like it that much?" I asked

"Yeah. We love it. I hope you can cook for us in the future." Amir said

"I'll think about it." I said as I got my things and left for school.                                                                                            
When I got to school, Nicholas was waiting for me at the front gate.

"Hey Rose. How are you?" He asked

I just ignored him and walked away. I walked over to my locker to see a slutty looking girl in front of it. When shr turned around and saw me, she immediately ran over to me and slapped me.

"You bitch." She said. "I can't believe you are trying to steal my boyfriend. He doesn't even want you. Who would want you when you have a face so ugly that you have to hide it?"

I just ignored her, got my things out of my locker and started walking to science class. However, the bitch wasn't done with me. She got in front of me, stabbed my stomach with her perfectly manacured claws and walked away like she won the war.

I started to feel something warm cover my stomach. Blood. Damnit. She reopened a wound.

"Are you alright?" Nicholas asked me

"I'm fine. Why don't you go get your girlfriend under control and tell her not to attack when unprovoked?" I tell him as we both go to science with Mr. Kole. For some reason, that guy does not like me. All I did was fall asleep.

Anyway, class started and I fell asleep like yesterday. But unlike yesterday, I heard a whimper coming from somewhere. When the sound got louder, I looks to my bag and saw it moving. I opened the flap and out rolled Cor, my German shepherd puppy.

He looked around and sniffed the air. He followed the scent all the way to the bitch who challenged me earlier. Turns out, her name is Christina. Cor climbed onto her lap and barked. Everyone looked toward him.

"Awww. What a cute little puppy." Christina said. Then, something hilarious happened. He peed on her. Her face was priceless. The whole class was laughing.

'She must smell like a toilet with all that perfume since the puppy peed on her.' I wrote and passed it to Nicholas. He read it and busted out laughing. He passed the note around the class and soon the whole class was laughing so hard the were crying.

"Silence!" Mr. Kole said "We are in the middle I class and here you are laughing. What's so funny that you would ignore me?"     

The kid who had the note walked up to him and gave it to him. He read it, looked up to see Christina still holding Cor in shock and snickered.

"As funny as this may be, it is wrong to bring pets to school. So who does he belong to?"

I got up out of my seat and went over to get my pup back. I silently whispered 'good boy', then turned around with a big ass smirk on my face and raised my hand.
