(S.2) Chapt.36

EERIE silence enveloped the whole area, and the trio just stood there motionless. Fear also took over their body once they found their hollow eyes staring into seeming nothing interesting, it was like they've seen a ghost - moreover, it was them who's looking like a ghost "Uh. . . Guys?" Marshall slowly questions them, the four didn't answer though and had just continued to stare into nothing, and this makes everything creepier. Chase decided to man up and approach them for himself, every step he took to draw closer is also a step closer to the unknown, and that also means he's also slowly stepping closer to danger for they have no idea what to expect. The German Shepherd himself hesitated and looked back, seeing if the two remaining figures who's clearly not like the four would suggest him to run back to them- but they urged him to go further with a worried look. Gulping in the lump of uneasiness to push himself forward, he proceeded to step forward. Once he was a meter away from Ryder, he expected a reaction aside from the hollow look he wore. Nothing. "Maybe the were all lost in thought?" He hypothesized, however he knows himself that that isn't the case.

He lifted his arms, and he slowly inched his paw forward to touch him, in hope he'll be back to his old self. Despite of doing a great job in what he's supposed to do, hesitation was playing tug-of-war with him, that made it seem like he'll never touch him with that thought running in his head. Although he battled it and had set it aside to get this nerve-wracking scene over with. The tan-hued fur of Chase were the first ones to touch Ryder, and slowly so did his skin than layers his actual flesh for protection. Nothing happened. He turned around and looked at the duo who has a good distance away from the four and gave them a look whereas one glance had told them his whole novella. Skye mouthed 'come back here' with a worried look, and Chase was nevertheless, glad he's being insisted to be back by their side. He was walking to them when he found Marshall and Skye's expression slightly changed into worry, with fright - they were both looking intensely at the view behind him and he's not quite certain if he wants to check it out for himself. Seeming that both of them were lost for words, no one can exactly tell him what they see for themselves but him to see it. Slowly panning his head to the back, to his surprise, Ryder and the four other pups were already standing and darting them a look with their void-full eyes. "Run Chase. . . " The boy whispers, almost too eerily quiet. Chase stuttered a reply on confusion and stood to where he is and froze.

"We're going to get you Skye." Everyone began to whisper as they shot their head up to look directly at Skye with anger fuming behind those eyes. Chase instinctively yelled at the two to run to Skye's copter, which they obeyed and ran away from the four as well. In a quick manner, Chase snatched his glider-pack in his pup house and took off with the copter that safely contains Skye and Marshall, whereas Skye is manning the copter. "That. . . Was close" Marshall breathes out in relief as he laid his back to the cushion "Yeah and THEY'RE AFTER ME!!" The Cockapoo adds, emphasizing the important detail to them, Chase agreed with her as he flies beside them "I'm assuming this is Sweetie's doing, and even if I don't completely remember the whole list of horrible things she did, I'm starting to dislike her greatly. . . "

"But we can't keep flying, we need some place to land and rest later night" Skye reminds as she looked at both Chase and Marshall, they nodded in response knowing her statement is true. Another wave of silence washed over them and had muted themselves with a thin- grim line on their lips, and for the sake of that, Chase wandered his attention somewhere else - and that elsewhere is the view that slowly transitions from a building to another one, a loop that would never end but just change scenery as they further their journey Northwards, and the only thing that could stop that seeming never ending loop is by landing down to the terra firma.

The German Shepherd himself couldn't deny that the view below him was truly splendid, even with the Sun's light touching every possible bit. Despite of being entertained with the passing flora, structure and never-ending threads of roads, something about this was familiar. Something similar yet unique by its own way. What was that thing again?

The brown-hued fur that belongs to a young German Shepherd named Chase, stood in the midst of everything. Everyone else were training for their profession and Chase here's looking for one Cockapoo that promised him that they'll be eating breakfast together. He kept calling her name in hope she'll show up but she didn't appear. Slightly disheartened about this, when he was about to go inside and have breakfast all by himself after seeing all he needed. A familiar voice rang somewhere slightly far away from him. Chase right away knew that it was his Cockapoo friend, Skye. What confuses him greatly is that her presence is quite near if he could see her, but where could she possibly be? It took him quite awhile to realize that she was hovering above everyone else and was in her copter. As he was completely awe-struck with her amazing maneuvering skills, Skye descended back down once she knew Chase's already awake.

Skye made a beeline to him so they can finally start that breakfast she promised, but Chase couldn't help himself but say "That was awesome Skye! You just started training. . . What? Just a week and you're getting the hang of it!" The Cockapoo, clearly flattered that someone appreciates her hard work, thanked Chase with a warm smile and told him that it was just the beginning. Wondering for himself what it would feel like to be up there, he carelessly mumbled he wished he could fly like her, Skye heard it loud and clear despite it having to be considered as a whisper, then suddenly Chase heard her offer him some flying lessons. "M-me? Where'd you get that crazy thought from?" He laughed nervously as the thought of having an air accident occurred in his mind. He didn't like to take-part in something tricky; if simply being a loving pup for a family with one child and being a great small brother to someone isn't complicated as flying a copter, then why did it end tragically? How much more if he were to man the copter, wouldn't it end the same way like he've seen twice lately? This was the reason why he'd let someone lead instead of him. "If it makes you happy, I can drive the copter for you" she suddenly bursts out, he slightly flinched at this and thought long and hard about what her offer. It could be beneficial in his opinion, but in order to do that, he must place his fears aside first. But the big question was. . . When will it be useful?

"Ryder! I am stuck in an
island, and—"

Chase blinked his eyes as the few embers of the memory wither away "What the—" He was about to question himself as to why he had even thought of that, when his head suddenly stung him to pain. He grunted as the pain slowly grew as it slowly ate his mind and it was all he could think about. As Skye and Marshall notices this, they wittily maneuvered the copter so they could catch Chase with Skye's copter's harness. Unfortunately, Chase was out of control and his glider went all over the place which made it almost too impossible to clasp the harness claw onto his waist "W-what do we do Skye?!" The panicked Marshall yells as his eyes that's overflowing with concern and fear looked at her intensely. The Cockapoo's mind raced, and so did her heartbeat, if they don't get Chase in a stable state, he might crash himself and cause harm to his own body, and right now that's the least they wanted to happen right now.

"Man this copter for a bit" She commanded as she suits herself with her regular pup-pack, as Skye flew out of the copter to get Chase, Marshall was piloting her copter and tried his best to keep it afloat above the cities so it wouldn't cause damage and harm to the innocent civilians. Shifting our lenses back to Skye, she was dashing speedily and from a far view, it looked like she's a falling meteor. Chase was currently out of her range, so she sped up so her paws can have a grip on him and manually place Chase in her harness. Physics  weren't making things easy for her, and Chase seems to continue falling with a throbbing head without realizing he's about to fall into doom. To Skye, it felt like everything she ever did to catch up to him never made any effect, it was like they still had the same distance as before, moreover, it feels like she's much farther from Chase now.

Finally, having enough of this, Skye boosted her engine power and had caused a great disturbance in the air, but that successfully sped her down to Chase. She was finally close to him, and when she knew Chase could hear him "Chase!! Hold on to me!!" She yelled as she tried to battle against the rushing wind that attempts to drown her with its cool property. Luckily Chase heard her and had grabbed onto her once he found himself falling and is nearing the ground. He barked his glider off as he allow Skye to do all the flying back to Marshall. "T-thanks for saving me. . . " He blushed out of embarrassment, realizing Skye's been saving his life lately and it appears she usually does when he suddenly gets hit with a wave of a possible memory coming back to him. Skye, who's holding him with all her might, grinned at this "It's no problem" She simply says while the both of them are nearing to where Marshall is.

"Chase! Skye!" Marshall yelled gleefully, his boredom slowly draining away out of his system as he welcomed the duo with a big grin and an obvious gesture to indicate he's glad they're here – wagging his tail. The Cockapoo slowly descended down to strap Chase with her harness "Are you going to be okay here?" She questions before she ascends back up with the dally to steer the copter into some place far away from Sweetie's radar. Chase nodded in agreement "Yeah, this is better than using my glider-pack" He smiles "You do know how I hate being up in the sky and I'm in control" Skye's face lit up once those words came out of him, and it weren't no ordinary words, she knew all along how he didn't trust himself controlling something air-related, that she had to help him get used to such things – like her copter. She was really glad that he's slowly remembering things, even from the oldest ones. "Glad to know you're remembering things" She says, smiling warmly at him before she fled up back to her copter.

When Chase was all alone by himself and everyone else where above him, he was left with his thoughts and he thought. . . Something's still missing. It's a word he Can't Woof It Out.
